From iBook to MacBook Pro
I started my first year of college in August of 2009. At this time, I hadn't put any thought into getting a laptop for college. A few months in, my grandma suggested that I should save up for one and with this, the Mac or Windows debate began.
At first, I figured I'd get a decent Windows laptop. It's cheap (didn't have a job in August) and I've grown up using Windows. While I was beginning to save some money (got a job in September) my grandma lent me her old iBook G4. That's right, it's September of 2009 and I'm using a computer from December of 2003. The iBook G4 had a blazing fast processor clocked at an amazing 933MHz

couple that with the 640MB (odd, I know) of RAM and I had myself a great main computer to start college with. MS Word and iTunes only took 20-30 seconds to open and you wanna run a flash video... it wasn't happening. However, I was very grateful for the laptop I was given to use temporarily.
The iBook could only run 10.5.X but this was my first extended use of OS X. I used it a little in high school and various other places for limited amounts of time, but this was the first time it was my main OS. Just a few weeks in, I realized that this was a far superior user experience and I just fell in love and I knew my first laptop/computer that I'd buy would be a Mac. I started following the rumors and began waiting for the new MacBook Pro's. The summer 2009 revisions had been out for a few months and some rumors pegged the new Pro's to be released as early as late December or early January. Well as we all know, the MBP's weren't refreshed until mid-April. Every Tuesday from February to April 6th I would eagerly check MacRumors and Apple's website only to be let down. However, the morning of April 13th, there they were, the new MBP's. I spent my entire morning surfing the internet, reading early reviews and stats. (Didn't pay much attention in Chem Lab @ 7:30am

) I was a little hesitant to order as $2100 is a lot for a college student to spend on one purchase. I had to sleep on it. Finally, Wednesday morning I decided to go for it; I ordered my MBP. 15" HR-Glossy screen with the 2.66GHz i7 & 4 GB of RAM. After spending a week tracking it from China to Alaska to Indiana then back to Arizona, it finally arrived on April 21st. It's the fastest and nicest computer I've ever used and should last me some good years. That old iBook G4 got me hooked on OS X and I don't think I can ever go back. So thank you grandma for bringing me over the good side.
TL;DR iBook G4 slow, got me hooked on OS X, now own a MBP. Awesomeness!
Middle right picture: Why yes, that is a watermelon on the desk. Why? I really don't know... It isn't mine.
