HI All,

Just ordered my first Mac, went with the Macbook Pro 15” i7.
Can’t wait to get to grips with OS X.

I ordered it on the 14th and it’s been shipped on the 18th, the estimated delivery date to the UK is the 1st July which seems quite a while.

Do the delivery dates change or is it likely that will be the actual arrival date.

Best regards

Really!
I just ordered mine over the phone, post above and it is a custom build.
I got an estimated delivery of next Tuesday (22nd)

Just picked up a 13" MBP with the Microcenter deal (not my first Mac). Looking forward to getting it up and running shortly. :D

Can't believe I finally did it

After months of deliberation and my computer going crazy for all too long, I finally splurged. I was originally going for the 15" and debating I5 v. I7 but then ran across the refurb section and found a MBP 17" 2.66 I7 Matte for $2169, which came out cheaper and higher specd then either one of the following:

1. 15" MBP, 500GB 7200, Hi-res matte
2. 17" MBP, I5, regular spec'd

Even with the education discount it was still cheaper !!

Excited to get it, and plan on buying applecare on ebay in a few months :)

Nice find. I don't know why the 17" machines are generally cheaper than the 15". At least that was the trend I noticed from looking at sale threads etc.

one of my MBP's feet doesn't touch the ground. I didn't notice it for awhile, since I rarely use it on a table - what are my options? this will be really annoying and I paid $2700 for this thing.

My new Unibody i5 15" MBP is quite possibly the best one I've ever had. Bought it Saturday after waiting in the Apple store for about an hour then finding out I could have just gone to the register. Only things I just absolutely cannot stand is the missing 2nd enter key, and the new placement of the volume keys. They're kinda out of the way. Love the new screen backlighting, and the glossy display is... sort of... growing on me, although slowly.

Did I mention that it's lightning quick? Graphics rock and everything just performs so well? :)

I am so happy right now. My mom just told me that I can order my MBP 13 inch tomorrow! I have to wait for her to get home, because she can get me a discount through Air Canada! Yippee! I also have an exam tomorrow - so I should get back to studying! Finally after waiting for soo long I can get a Mac!! :D

:apple: here I come. :p

I checked delivery status of my MBP ordered from amazon, it has this text;

Delivery attempted. Signature is required to complete delivery. Please see carrier notice for next delivery attempt or contact the carrier.

what does this mean? I made this shipment to my friend in USA Michigan, i live in Turkey, he will bring it to me when coming here at the end of june. What do i have to do now? Call him or something. Please help.

Just means that they have tried to deliver it to your friend and he was not at home. He must sign to delivery to verify that they have dropped of the package...

They will try later, se the note that they have left at your friends house or call them for an appointment for delivery

Thought I'd wait till I actually got it before posting, but...

I got my new MBP :D

17" AG
2.66 i7

That's a nice rig! As long as you don't need 8Gb of RAM for any of your apps, when you get around to adding an SSD your setup will be state of the art. I wish I had a setup like yours.:)

I ordered my MBP 15" 2.4 core i5 High Res Glossy 500 GB 7200 RPM on sunday and it shipped this morning! So looking forward to this new one to come in.

Thanks :)

She's pretty and fast. I'm doing the battery calibration now and it took 4 terminal windows running "yes > /dev/null" to max out the processor  But I I got the battery drained and it's sleeping now. Once I put it back on charge I plan on testing the i7 and 4gb of RAM using iMovie to render a HD home movie. That's the main reason for getting this. I figure if I can get a smaller SSD for a boot/OS drive I can save money by using the optibay for my main storage.

And I'm constantly amazed at the advancements in computing. I remember my first intro to Mac was with my parents Mac Classic and Mac SE: 8MHz processor, 4mb of RAM and a 20mb HD. I have RAW images that would only fit one on that HD

I would try to bring it into one of the stores and see if they can do anything. You can also call, but it will be easier to show them the problem in the store in person, but if there isn't an apple store nearby that may be your only option. Not sure what they would do. Does your computer look warped on that side or something?

what was your total if you dont mind me asking.

$2,324.00 from the Education Store. I wrestled with the cost of this thing but set my mind at ease when I started looking at comparable Windows laptops. They're not that much cheaper and the build quality/OS is worth the extra to me.

Cool part is, I did the iPod deal with it and my wife was able to get the 64gb Touch for 200 :D I was fully expecting to have to submit a rebate request but it appears they only charged us for the retail minus rebate price.

I hate this waiting game with the battery calibration. I want to use this thing so bad!!!!

Well, I went the Apple Store today, and came home with a 17 inch MacBook Pro.

Absolutely amazing. Posting from it now.

Now I might have to post around here instead of just the iPhone forum. :p

Just order my MBP 13 inch
2.4 C2D
4 GB RAM
320 HDD
iWork preinstalled

haha can't wait! my first mac! does anyone know how long it will take to get to me? like a rough guess? im in Canada (ontario) :p

thanks! :D

The refurb store needs to add a hi-res glossy 15" already.

I saw one the other day... I just saw a 2.53 i5 one. They're not that much of a deal though honestly. My friend told me to look at it but I wasn't saving much so I just bought a new one.
