I saw one the other day... I just saw a 2.53 i5 one. They're not that much of a deal though honestly. My friend told me to look at it but I wasn't saving much so I just bought a new one.

Darn. D: They always have a bunch of anti-glare ones so I was hoping to get a deal with glossy. Then again I only have $1,400 saved so I can't get the laptop I want yet anyway. It's taking forever to make this kind of money argh.

Why would you think the battery needs calibration when the system is new from the box?

After reading many posts on battery life in these forums, it was a general consensus that a calibration should be done as soon after first boot as possible and then (depending on usage) about once a month to keep the battery healthy and the system meter accurate.

Just got my new 15 inch hi-res i5. Its totally awesome.

I'm surprised by how noticeably better the performance is compared to my old 17 inch c2d. Also a little bit surprised that activity monitor reports that it has four cores (hyper threading i guess).

The high-res screen is STUNNING. Way better than my old 17inch with the same resolution.

Looking forward to pushing this beast to its limit for the next 3-4 years.

I am so happy right now. My mom just told me that I can order my MBP 13 inch tomorrow! I have to wait for her to get home, because she can get me a discount through Air Canada! Yippee! I also have an exam tomorrow - so I should get back to studying! Finally after waiting for soo long I can get a Mac!! :D

:apple: here I come. :p

You have a good mom. :apple:

My 15" i7 is flying from Oakland International to Portland at 2am today. Should have a nice package when I get home from teaching VBS at church tomorrow. :D

You have clearly done your homework. By the way, if you haven't done so already, be sure to download both the iStat widget and coconutBattery apps. Both are free. I have come to rely heavily on iStat. In addition to telling you about your battery's health it provides a bunch more useful information, too. A word of warning about battery health might be in order. My 30 month old MBP's battery health has fluctuated between a low of 42 percent and a high of 94 percent, depending on when I last discharged and recharged it. I have learned as a result of this not to obsess on that number. A better gauge is to pay attention to how you are using your computer on battery power and how long the battery's charge lasts in actual use.

Yes, I've been using iStat on all my Macs and love it. It's a shame they made iStat Menu a paid app. I ended up installing MenuMeters to get my CPU info on the top bar.

I'll have to check out Coconut Battery.

Just as a FYI, I was able to import a 7 minute clip from my Canon HFS-100 at the 960x540 and encode/export it at 1280x720 in about 40 minutes. Works great!!!

The waiting is the hardest part...

I ordered my first MBP June 22nd! Officially making the move to :apple: from PC! I'm getting irritated because it was shipped out yesterday in the wee hours of the morning but is still stuck in China customs, or so they say  The online tracking, as I'm sure several of you have experienced, is currently delayed and has been since yesterday. I spoke with two customer service reps at Fedex and neither of them acknowledged the online tracking problem and kept telling me it was working fine. Umm, NO, I am not crazy! They told me my laptop shoulda woulda coulda been here tomorrow (Friday) but as far as they know it's still in China. I don't know if I believe them! Has anyone else experienced this?

Relax, your computer will arrive when Apple says it will. We've all been through the angst of waiting for a new toy however Apple generally does what they say they will. If they say it will be there by tomorrow, then it probably will be. Nothing you do or say is going to get it there any quicker so take a deep breath and be patient.

That's been my experience, too. Recently, I bought an iPad from the Apple Store Online as a high school graduation and birthday gift for my grandson. It shipped via Fedex and arrived almost to the hour the tracking information had said it would get here.

Anyone from the UK ordered a MBP 13" from Amazon lately?

They have been up on the site at £888.25. I ordered one during this week and it should be due next week although now when I look at the product on the site it says due in stock 6th July. It still says estimated delivery 29th June for my order though.

Thanks for the reply however I wasn't irritated with Apple but with Fedex. I was irritated that they kept telling me to track through the website when it wasn't working (check out the iPhoners, they were mad, too!). If I'm going to pay for it to be expedited + the cost of the laptop itself, I would like to at least know where it is! Apple has been great so far, no complaints. And yes, I'm stoked for it to get here

I took advantage of the Microcenter $200 off the 13" Macbook Pro. Although it was a 45 minutes drive (to St. Davids in PA from NJ) the experience was great. I was in the store no store no more than three minutes. So far the mbp is awesome. This is my first Mac so I am getting used to the new environment.

just got my new mbp - my experience so far

First of all, Hello everyone.
Well after wanting to change from windows for over 2 years, i had to wait till my old pc got a little more rust. Last nite my 24" monitor got a big bad line of dead pixels, and i decided that was it.
Im personally exited, since this is my first big investment i do on my own, with my own money earned by my own business, and it feels great.
Well, i went to the store considering to buy the 13" but since i really wanted to fully replace my desktop i opted for the bigger screen (i think the specs on the 13 were enough), the bad part is that im not in the US and my store had no HD screens, so i had to go with the normal one :S.
As for the xperience, im truly amazed by the quality of apple products. Everything since you unpack your computer its an incredible experience. Apple gave me what i was hoping to get, to enjoy computers again!! I was tired of windowns for many reasons, im not gonna list, but mostly because i didnt even care to download MY music, MY stuff just because i knew id have to format soon or my pc could crash anytime, so instead of backing up etc i just gave up to a lot of things i hope mac gives me back.

Its been a little weird so far, but im enjoying everysecond (this is like the 3rd thing ive done since opening it, hehe i maybe have 1 hour on this mb)

The machine is so nicely done, the screen is beautiful, every picture, video, etc seems to look better, even the webs looks different, like im rediscovering the internet all over again. Thank you apple, 1 big happy customer, hope to keep getting even more amazed.

Congrats, I got mine 2 weeks ago as well, first 4 days was amazed before it started to lag.

I still yet to discover why but I do occasional bugs that are annoying.

In general I love my experience so far.

WHOOOOO

Just checked my tracking info this morning, and it's coming today - 1 Week early.

Just waiting for that knock on the door, Happy days.

MAC Book Pro 15 I7, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD, Hi-Res Glossy.

I've had my 17" MBP for about a month now, standard configuration but with antiglare screen.

It's my first Mac (iPod touch doesn't count as one I suppose? :p ), and I am pretty impressed: Awesome build quality, nice design, great battery life.

I've grown up with Windows, and OS X is a nice change to the Windows world I am used to. I didn't actually switch, my new MBP now coexists peacefully with my custom built Win 7 PC that I use as a home workstation. But now I have one of the best mobile computers aver made. I am happy with my purchase.

Wohoo! my mbp is supposed to arrive on tuesday, but it's on the truck to be delivered today! I thought it missed the morning delivery trucks, but it was picked up 10 minutes after it arrived! YAY!

MBP HR Glossy, 2.4 i5 500gb 7200 rpm

Can't wait!:)

Enjoy!! :) I got mine yesterday, and loving it. soo much faster. :p almost identical computer except different hard drives. :p

Hello!

Hello MacRumors!

I just figured I'd introduce myself quick.

I'm a longtime Windows user. I build and service PCs, but I just received my first ever Mac.

I got the new MBP 13". So far, I'm loving it. I have just about everything here to setup my Windows 7 side on it and I'm very excited to basically have 2 computers in one.

Anyways, I started out at another site and I still have to prove I'm human anytime I want to do anything, so I figured I'd check it out over here. :)
