That's what I got! though maybe you got the 5400 vs the 7200 rpm drive but still almost identical.. not many high res glossy people on this forum. either low res glossy or high res anti-glare that I've seen. I couldn't bring myself to do the anti-glare, because I actually do kind of like the black border that is on the glossy over the silver bezel (like the contrast...) and the glossy didn't bother me that much as I don't do much, if any photo editing, and if I do, I have an external monitor I can do for better color reproductions.

I did get the 5400rpm, although I'm already regretting not upping it to the 7200 and I haven't even received it yet.

Still, I'm happy that a Macbook Pro is on it's way to me.

Well you're in America and ordered from Apple Store, but I'm in England and ordered from Amazon, so we can't really compare delivery times :D

I got the i7 7200rpm with high res glossy. I have a glossy screen macbook and used to have an anti-glare PowerBook. I prefer the glossy (and agree about the ugly border... in fact I wish they shrunk the border - the old PowerBooks were so good with the super-thin frame around the screen). Ordered yesterday, will have to wait until 16th July according to apple!

You can always upgrade the HDD to a hybrid SDD/HDD such as the Momentus XT - cheap (<£100 GBP), 500GB and FAST. I'm thinking of getting that myself and shoving the 7200 that comes with the MBP into my old MB.

What price did you pay?

I got my new mbp 13" from Amazon on the last day of June and I'd only paid £888 for it, brand new etc. Saved over £100 compared to Apple Store!
 
First post about a first Mac

Greetings,

Today morning at 6.45 am I, a long time forum reader ordered my first Mac, and I got a Macbook Pro 13" basic 2010 model. I placed my order at the Apple Education Store and the final price tag showed 1.089.78 €uros which saved me about 70 €uros when comparing to the Adult Store :p

Estimated shipping should happen today and delivery between 6th and 8th of July.

So naturally, I hardly can't wait for next week :D

I noticed that £888 earlier on Amazon, having seen an Apple refurb of the same thing for £849 :D

Obviously refurbs are the way to go compared to Apple list prices, but does anyone have an opinion as to whether it is worth paying just £39 more for a new one rather than a refurbished?

I think it would have to be the new one! I think I have OCD though lol, because I just love the fact no one has probably used my mbp apart from me.

I can definitely say it's worth going with Amazon. Paid only £888 and it's perfect condition, speady delivery and I cant believe I got it so much cheaper.
 
Finally did it! I ordered my first MacBook Pro this morning along with a free iPod Touch (after rebate) and a iPad 32GB WiFi!

Cant wait! iPod Touch now says prepared for shipment just 3 hours after placing my order, but the MacBook wont ship until next Tuesdayish. The iPad is going to take forever, but thankfully I ordered that last week, and Apple says it will ship July 12:(

- 15`inch HiRes Glossy
- i7
- 4GB RAM
- 500GB at 7200RPM
- iWork
- Final Cut
 
Just found a 15" macbook pro on ebay for $1650 shipped/taxed on ebay! Finally found one in Canada, so this is awsome ;]

Yup, Just Did it. Took The Plunge. For The First Time. Now I Am Part Of the MAC Club. lol

Ordered the 15" Macbook Pro i7 2.66
500 7200 RPM
Hi-Res Antiglare
Itouch 8g & Printer which have rebates with the educational discount
plus I ordered through BigCrumbs to get an additional 1.6% cashback

After selling the Itouch, Printer and the 1.6% cashback will relief the cost a little.

Estimated Ship Date of July 8-14. Can't Wait.

The waits gonna kill. I got that exact same macbook (first apple computer) and I LOVE IT!!! Wishing a fast delivery for you! =p

Quoting myself: My brand new Macbook Pro 13" is in Da House :cool: I've just unboxed it and now its charging for the first time. So pretty little thing it is :p I'm more than suprised that delivery only took one business day :eek: I'm surely not complaining on that, Thanks Apple a million :D

I can't believe I'm still waiting. Surely it can't take this long to put a screen and a HDD in.

People pay good money for these laptops, and they can't even offer a premium delivery service for them. I'm seriously disappointed with the service I'm receiving from Apple.

I ordered mine on the 30th June yet it says delivery on the 16th July!!! Just a MBP i7 + high res glossy + 7200HDD.

well I just made the switch!

All I can say is wow!!!

I went to a local store yesterday to just check out the macbook pro's, they happen to be running a special on the brand new 4gig ever so wonderful computers. Anyway I walk in check it out and a guy who used to work for me is now the sales managers, instead of paying the listed 999 for my computer I ended up walking away with a new macbook pro 13" for $850 with a carrying case!

Now after a couple hours of use, I can that is drastically different but these really are amazing machines. I did download Iwork (i believe, thats what its called) so I can start work immediatly.
