Yes, he could have, perhaps he did not know or nobody told him... he is a new mac user.

Instead of just assuming he pirated/stole software, my post was to point out the legitimate way you can download the use iWork right away, as he mentioned.

Yup, Just Did it. Took The Plunge. For The First Time. Now I Am Part Of the MAC Club. lol

Ordered the 15" Macbook Pro i7 2.66
500 7200 RPM
Hi-Res Antiglare
Itouch 8g & Printer which have rebates with the educational discount
plus I ordered through BigCrumbs to get an additional 1.6% cashback

After selling the Itouch, Printer and the 1.6% cashback will relief the cost a little.

Estimated Ship Date of July 8-14. Can't Wait.

I just ordered mine last friday with the same specs, however I didn't get the promo. After reading your post, I regret not getting the itouch; called customer service to add the itouch and printer to my order. :D

Quoting myself: My brand new Macbook Pro 13" is in Da House  I've just unboxed it and now its charging for the first time. So pretty little thing it is :p I'm more than suprised that delivery only took one business day  I'm surely not complaining on that, Thanks Apple a million :D

Wait, you got yours delivered today? What did they ship with? Cause I ordered through apple and Fedex isn't delivering today in US.

I ordered the base line model on friday at 6.45 am. My carrier was TNT and I live in Finland. My mbp shipped from the Netherlands (Arnhem and Eindhoven) so it wasn't a long trip :)

The waits gonna kill. I got that exact same macbook (first apple computer) and I LOVE IT!!! Wishing a fast delivery for you! =p

Mine says ready for shipment as of today. since it is about 12:00am in China I take it , it won't be shipped until tonight or tomorrow. The wait is on.

As long as it had not been shipped or prepared for shipment you could have cancelled your order and start from scratch. That is what I did when I forgot to do it through the cashback site. I am taking back every penny possible. This purchase is hefty as it is. 1.6% back is good enough for me .

Good thing you were able to add the promotion, it is worth it.

How many gigs?

IAMBASIL, The 8 GIG that comes with the student promotion. If you are patient and put it in a long auction 7-10 days, there is always that one buyer that would not mind saving 15$. I have seen it go for as inexpensive as 125$ to as much as 179.99 with one buyer.

Oops.. I was getting GBP confused with USD! I have a load of things to sell on ebay including an ipod touch 8GB and brand new mobile phone, and have never sold a thing!

So do you mean 7-10 days and 'buy it now'?

Also, since I'm feeling guilty for going off topic on this thread, I should mention that Amazon are selling the latest MBPs about 10% cheaper than direct from Apple (and ship a lot quicker!).

haha, thanks for the warm welcome fellas.

No kidding

Geez people, the guy buys a new Mac, joins the Forum and all you can post about how he obtained iWork? When meanwhile you all have NO idea and yes there is a 30 day trial too ... To many posts here lately from people who sound like 'grumply old men' ... lighten up!

To the OP:

Congrat's on your new 13" MBP! You'll grow to love it even more as you spend more time with it and see what the OS is all about ... I'm a ex-windows user of 15 years ... been with Mac's quite a while now, switched my whole off/staff to Mac's as well ... never look back!

Joined the club yesterday...

Well, since purchasing my iPhone 3G two years ago I have loved the simplicity of Apple's software. That led to me researching OS X and I was temped on and off for the past two years. Recently I decided I had become bored and disgusted with Windows (and the Dells I had it on) and decided to make the jump.

Over the weekend I decided now was the time. Woke up early yesterday and proceeded to the local Apple Store so I could take advantage of my returning to school and the Back to School promotion. After a few minutes I walked out with a 2010 13" (base) MBP with the accompanying 8GB iPod Touch (will probably sell), an AirPort Extreme to replace my D-Link router and the HP wireless printer.

I have been thoroughly impressed with OS X and the hardware these past 24 hours and would recommend it to anyone. Still trying to learn the basics but it seems to be progressing well.

All I can say is wow!!!

I went to a local store yesterday to just check out the macbook pro's, they happen to be running a special on the brand new 4gig ever so wonderful computers. Anyway I walk in check it out and a guy who used to work for me is now the sales managers, instead of paying the listed 999 for my computer I ended up walking away with a new macbook pro 13" for $850 with a carrying case!

Now after a couple hours of use, I can that is drastically different but these really are amazing machines. I did download Iwork (i believe, thats what its called) so I can start work immediatly.

Definitely congrats. MacBook Pros are worlds better than any windows laptop manufacturer even tries to make. And the UNIX environment is excellent from those that need the terminal or those that hate anti virus (oops. did I say that? not that I run that stuff on my windows pcs either)

Anyways I tried out iWork when I first got my MacBook Pro too. I ended up getting a discounted copy of Office through school ($10) though and liked it better.

That's really inconsiderate and rude. Regardless what do you care how the thread starter obtained the software? or what software the thread starter installs on his computer?

Wow. My first Macbook Pro.

So I have been using my iphone 3G for almost two years and I was the owner of a Dell Studio Laptop. I really loved my Iphone and I grew to hate my Dell with Windows Vista. I had heard that Windows 7 was pretty good, but I have about had it with Windows. My laptop was also a major POS in my opinion. The plastic creaked and it got RIDICULOUSLY HOT. It was heavy and SLOW!

So I was almost complete with my MA in Elementary Ed and the school I interned at used all macbooks. And most schools use macbooks so with that incentive, plus my ed discount and my previous experience I decided it was finally time to switch.

I got a 13" MBP base model and let me say, WOW! The screen looks amazing. It is amazingly fast. Itunes opens up instantly. I can't even believe it. When I close it and come back a few hours later, I open it and bam it starts immediately. This is incredible. The trackpad is awesome. I love showing people the four finger swipe. Windows users are very impressed by that. Ilife is awesome. Faces! How cool is that?!?!

Then it just looks awesome. So sleek and professional looking. I rest it on my lap for hours and there is NO bothersome heat. It is SOOO light. Wow, let me just say it one more time. WOW.
