The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

Got the base 15" (2.4GHz Core i5, 320GB HDD, etc) yesterday, kind of for free (Apple damaged my previous MBP [the late 2008 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, the last with the user replaceable battery] and gave me the latest one to say sorry). Such an amazing machine. I thought my original MBP was lightning fast when I got it, but it doesn't even compare to this. Love the intertial scrolling (is a life saver in iTunes), and the added battery life is welcomed too - I think I'm in love :p

Out for delivery a day early! Ordered Sunday and showed expected date as Friday, but its on the truck now (Thursday)

Same here, 17" i7, 8 GB Ram, AG, only difference is I upgraded to the 128GB SSD. Ordered Sunday, was supposed to be here on Friday, but out for delivery today! (standard shipping!) Not sure why yours is taking so long Khryz.
 
I ordered Monday night, and mine has shipped this morning but it's still in China so it's expected to get here Monday. Was hoping for a weekend delivery so crossing my fingers for an early surprise!

I also bought the Power Support Body Guard for the externals of the computer and the Protection Pack for the trackpad and wrists. Want to keep this MBP mint.

What does everyone use to clean the screen and around the keyboard?

Apple says not to clean the screen with anything but a damp lint-free cloth (water). If you have a glossy screen you can use iKlear since it's just a slab of glass, but if you have the anti-glare display, I wouldn't use anything but water and never spray anything directly on the display. Around the keyboard you can use soapy water or iKlear.

I have tons of micro-fiber cloths so I'll just use those for the display/keyboard.
 
Just received my 15 inch high res/matte i7 a couple days ago. Everything is beautiful...except the battery. I'm at half brightness, 1/3 keyboard light doing light browsing and adium and I'm only getting maybe 4 and a half hours of battery life.
I've calibrated the battery twice and its still done that. My local Apple store didn't have any HR/matte computers to exchange...do you think they'd let me keep my mac while they order one and exchange or would I have to wait again?

I have seen other peoples' MacBooks - earlier versions - where they had a black cloth that looked like they completely covered the screen when they were going to close the laptop.

I did get a black cloth but it looks like it is for screen cleaning as it isn't big enough to cover the whole size of the screen/keyboard.

This is my first MacBookPro (or any MacBook) and I am just inquiring to see if anyone thinks I should be protecting my Mac when I close it down each time.

I believe all Apple products should come with that cloth (not too sure about iPods before iPod touch.)
That filmy thingy in between the screen and the keyboard... I was told it's there so your screen does not get keyboard marks on it. Not sure how true that is. I just use it

My 4 yr old macbook screen has a mark (you'd really have to look hard to see it though) from the bottom edge of the hollow where the keyboard is. I bought a tucano microfibre/neoprene sleeve for my new MBP - it comes with a micro-fibre keyboard protector that covers the entire hollow (just), so will hopefully protect from marks on the screen.
 
Is it me or does FedEx tracking blow? My MBP has been in Shanghai, China for 2 days. I hope they're just late to update it and it's in the US by now.

EDIT: It just arrived in Anchorage, AK. What're the chances it'll arrive here tomorrow? ;)

Hate to say it but I think it's you just being overly anxious, my FedEx tracking experience (over 15 years) has shown them to be pretty accurate.

Maybe you're right, but I selected 2-3 Day Air and it shipped 2 days ago so I'm still banking on it coming tomorrow.

Mine arrived in Anchorage on Wednesday night and today it is now out on the truck for delivery. It basically spent the whole day yesterday in Anchorage and then got shipped to Memphis before here. So yours might be there tomorrow and if not, then more likely Monday.

Now I'm just waiting for the FedEx man... :rolleyes:

Damn. Lol. Well mine arrived actually this morning at 3 AM according to tracking. I am anxious because being able to get it setup over the weekend totally beats Monday after work.
 
I know, that's what I'm thinking too... glad it's arriving earlier than the scheduled delivery of next Tuesday! Heh.
 
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. After posting just a few questions, but lurking on here for weeks.(The Search Function is my friend). I finally went to The Apple Store yesterday, and pulled the trigger. I was lucky enough to bring home a 15in 2.4 i5 MBP. Was tempted to order one and get the Hi Rez. But was just too impatient and wanted it now. Thanx again for the previous answers and posts. I'm sure more questions are to follow....

Well, it is showing up as being out on the truck for delivery, so I'm assuming it will be here any time (I'm going crazy waiting for the FedEx man - haha). But yeah - I ordered an iPod Nano with it (education purchase) and the Nano shipped first and showed a scheduled delivery of today. Then the MBP shipped the next day and showed scheduled delivery of the 27th (Tuesday). But they both arrived in Anchorage about the same time and have pretty much been in sync ever since, so it looks like both will be here today.
 
Nice!! I have the same color iPod Nano. I wonder how they're going to update all the iPod's in a couple months ..

My MBP has departed from Alaska as of 3:30 PM eastern.

Oooh... you're getting close then. :) I was SO excited when I saw that the FedEx man was here today - haha.
 
woohoo! FINALLY ordered my 15" mbp with core i7, 500GB 7200rpm, and the 1680x1050 antiglare display. i bought a seagate momentus XT 500GB to put in the mbp when it arrives.

i ordered yesterday at 2PM and chose 2-3 day shipping. it says delivery by july 27th - august 2nd, but im really hoping it'll come by this coming week, maybe on tuesday or wednesday if im lucky! :p
 
hmmm

According to macrumors and other websites they're going to release a 2.8 ghz i7 macbook pro around this fall, but right now they're offering the free ipod if you buy a mbp now. which one should i get? also i kinda wanna get the ipod touch 4g when it comes out.
choices choices....lol
