I was planning to buy the Momentus XT 500 GB to pop in right away, but Newegg is sold out. They don't even have an "auto-notify" button. Has it been discontinued or something? I checked a couple other sites and it was sold out too. Anyone know where I can get it for a good price right now? If I wait, will it still be easy to copy everything over to the new drive if I just go ahead and start loading files onto the built-in drive when the MBP arrives? Or, is it better to pay more for the Momentus XT from someplace that has it in stock so I can take care of that now? I'm planning on getting an external enclosure to put the built-in drive in anyway, so I figure I can use that to transfer if I wait until later.

:) you are doing the exact same thing i did! bought the exact same mbp 15" (core i7, 500GB 7200rpm hd, and bought the momentus XT 500GB). weirdly, i also ordered last friday, but at 2pm.

yesterday, i was notified that it was on its way, but literally as of 20 minutes ago, it says "shipment exception" - unacceptable pkg or incomplete paperwork. what the hell was it doing in shanghai for 12 hours? its still showing delivery by this thursday by 10:30am. im really hoping it'll get here before the weekend...ugh. :mad:
 
Woohoo got mine yesterday!! :D:D

After 2 hours of testing the stock HDD, in went the intel 160gb SSD ;)

Mine did the exact same thing! Now it says in transit, and it's supposed to make it here by 10:30 am tomorrow. I really hope it does, cause I'm going out of town this weekend and I wanna migrate everything over form my old MB before I do!

I use the new InCase hardshell case, and I absolutely love it. But when I'm traveling, I slip my MBP (with the hardshell on it) into the neoprene sleeve...
 
I ordered my first Mac Monday.

I ordered the MacBook Pro 15" 2.4Ghz 320gig HDD @5400 rpm with the high res screen.

I am so excited. The printer I got came here today. It's the $100 that is free after the student rebate. It's all fancy. :p

The only bad thing is, I had StarCraft 2 preordered, and picked it up Tuesday, but can't play it until my MacBook gets here on August 3rd. I just have to stare at it and see what could be. :(

Haha, but yeah, I can't wait.

I figured the 7200 RPM might still be useful if I was using it as an external drive for video editing. Though, I may have just wasted $50. In any case, now that the Momentus XT is out of stock, maybe I'll just stick with the configured drive for awhile and save the Momentus for my wish list for the holidays!
 
Oops I wasn't on here when I first got it... a week or two ago I received my new 15" 2.53GHz i5 MBP, 7200 rpm and HR glossy screen. Lovin it so far! :) I sold my 2006 black Macbook for $400 so that was pretty great!
 
Hi, just joined yesterday and I thought I`d make this my first post.

Ordered my first Mac ever on the 27th thru Apple finance and should be here by the 3/4 August according to Apple.
I`ve been thinking about the switch for a while and just thought sod it and ordered.
I haven`t even been near a Mac for over 10 years so I`m nervous as well as seriously excited, really looking forward to learning about a totally new (to me) OS.
Weirdly I not long ago got a new 17" Win7 laptop and I was going to wait until late next year but a screen fault on the laptop has given me the (flimsy) excuse I needed to switch.
I`m going to be living next to my front door for the next few days until that package arrives!

Yesterday ordered my first mac ever:D.

the i7 15" antiglare. Will be ordering the Hitachi 7k500 tomorrow to upgrade the hd myself. Can't wait. Estimated delivery time 09-10 august:(.

You only got $400 for it? I sold my ~6 year old 12" Powerbook G4 1.33GHZ for $150 about a month ago. I'm just amazed at how well Macs retain their price, it's a good indicator of their quality design, function, and demand.
 
Hey guys! I came across these forums on a Google search and decided to make an account here. I ordered a 2.4ghz Macbook Pro 15-inch with hi-res antiglare screen on July 30th, and I can't wait for it to ship and get here!

On a side note: my main computer got a virus :\ and I'm stuck on my laptop, not that it's a bad laptop, but I'm just annoyed about the whole virus situation.

Anyways, hopefully I'll be posting around on these forums on my brand new Macbook Pro soon :)

just got the base model 13 inch 2010 macbook pro at bestbuy today around 3 pm, got the student discount and they did a instant rebate on the 8 gig ipod touch so that was nice.


calibrating the battery right now, waiting for it to drain out so it can sleep for 5 hours, wish it didnt need so long but oh well lol

I am a long time pc user and i must say up to this point anti apple, but this macbook pro has impressed me so far!! :)
