good news: my MBP arrived at my house!
bad news: no one was home... :(
i work 8-5 every day so it seems like the only option is to pre-sign for it. i'm just worried to leave it all on its own until i get home. eeek :(

i dunno what time fed ex closes but u could go after work and pick it up at the fed ex place

Nope just a 500GB 7200RPM HDD (Anyone know what HDD it is?). Too poor to afford a SSD :(
Than again getting a Macbook Pro i7 was already extremely harsh on my wallet :(

The 7200rpm will be plenty fast for you. Just start saving up for an SSD and install it when you can afford it. Gotta figure in 6 months a 256GB SSD will cost what a 128 does now.

But I was actually surprised at how fast the WD Scorpio Black 320GB 7200rpm drive is. Def not slow like a 5400rpm HDD!

I ordered my first unibody late Monday night. I am getting a Spring 2010, 15" MacBook Pro 2.4, Core i5, 320 HD, HR AG. I did not really like the unibodys at first, but the design has grown on me. I am excited that I am going to get to use a mac again. My order status changed today from "Not Yet Shipped" to "Preparing to Ship". Glad to be back :)

veryyy niceeee, congrats on your purchase!

Cool, my package is in Oakland now. It'd be amazing if it got to L.A tomorrow and to my doorsteps, but I doubt it. Sorry if I'm kind of "spamming" this wall, but I'm excited for my MBP! :p

After many many years of abuse, screaming, and unconditional love, I am retiring my faithful MacBook Pro! I got this 15" beaut back in Dec 2006 after I sold my 2004 12" PowerBook.

With graduate school up around the corner, it was time to upgrade. Am going to get a new 15" Macbook Pro this weekend. Just the basic model but might get a high-res glossy display upgrade - love how the pictures pop. I also may take advantage of the back to school deal with ipod touch and get one for my dad.

My laptop will be for aim, papers, internet, movies, music, ripping dvds for my iphone, some slight movie editing, and that's about it. Don't really need the extra speed / ram and will do my own upgrades soon enough.

I also just ordered a speck case (satin black) so should be here when I get my laptop, w00t!

However, I do need some advice: In a month or so, I am upgrading the HD (done deal) and now am looking for deals on SSDs and working out the fiances. I have been reading around but I absolutely cannot decide which one to go with.

For the HD, I plan on getting Optibay and installing this: Western Digital Black 1TB 7200RPM

As for SSDs, I'm not too sure which would be best. I am looking in the 80-128GB range and found these:

Intel X-25M 80GB

Corsair Force 120GB

Kingston V Series 128GB

Which would be best? The 1TB is for fast storage so the SSD is just for ludicrous-speed and stability - thus TRIM, etc are a must.

Basically my dream laptop - I've gone plaid! :D

Ordered my MBP 15inch 2,4 with HiRes AG last Friday. Still not shipped.

But I got it quite cheap with a German education discount. Paid just 1575 Euro for it.

Cheers

That HDD won't fit into your MBP. It's a 3.5" drive for desktops.

Out of those three SSDs, the fastest is the Corsair Force 120GB.

I'm getting my Optibay today. I'm so psyched.

I've ordered it a little over a week , and I got it yesterday, It is awesome! I love it. The trackpad is amazingly big and good. Im on a acer laptop from my nice right now , and the trackpad sucks compared to the MBP. Im addicted to the backlit keyboard aswell.

i dunno what time fed ex closes but u could go after work and pick it up at the fed ex place

the fed ex office is pretty far from our house but we're getting one of our neighbors to sign for the package for us. so i should be getting it when i get home today! :D

yes the 13 inch is so nice! i thought the screen would feel small compared to my 14 inch ibook, but it doesn't at all. i love the widescreen set up.

ugh it's torture being at work on this Dell when my beauuutiful MBP is all alone at home :( hahah.

I've been saving since before I joined this site and FINALLY bought my Macbook Pro today for tax free weekend! Got the 15" Hi-Res Glossy i7 with 500GB drive @ 7200 rpm. I cannot wait! (Although hopefully the tax is at 0 when I get the official email because it wasn't on the site D: )

FedEx tracking shows that my macbook pro is on the FedEx vehicle for delivery. My macbook pro shipped a little after midnight Thursday. If it really is delivered today, it will be two days early. I can't believe it made from Shanghai to my city this fast. :)

I ordered the same model as a refurb for tax free weekend as well. When I ordered it included tax but on the email it was $0. It still says that it is prepared for shipment but has not shipped yet.

I paid for next day shipping but it says that it will arrive on the 9th OR the 10th? I ordered at 6AM EST and the shipping estimate was within 24 hours...I better get it on the 9th or I want my $15 back...

I just ordered a 13 inch macbook pro on Amazon!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I am not rich, Anyone know how to explain to parents? They will be saying like how I should of gotten a PC instead (I'm a regular PC user) because it is way cheaper.

Tell them its more reliable and OSX doesn't get viruses. But the best way to prove Macs are better than Windows PCs is to hope it works according to this plan.
1. You own a Mac because you had so many problems with your Windows PC. Correct?
2. Hope your Mac lasts longer than your PC. (Take VERY good care of it)
3. Show your parents how after a few ears, its been a great machine, and its still running as fast as it did.
