My MBP's been here in my state about an hour away since 7 AM. So for the past 8 hours it's done nothing. And I love how it's going to now sit there in the warehouse for another 2 days and it's 100 degrees out.

According to macrumors and other websites they're going to release a 2.8 ghz i7 macbook pro around this fall, but right now they're offering the free ipod if you buy a mbp now. which one should i get? also i kinda wanna get the ipod touch 4g when it comes out.
choices choices....lol
congrats to everyone who has bought a mbp recently :)

Buy now, Macrumors is made up of 100% speculation peppered with rumors and guess's supported by few if any facts. Apple has not disclosed anything about when they will release an update much less what the update will be comprised of. If you have a need for a computer today then get it, it's really that simple.

Regards,

Roger

This, and Apple will not launch a refresh before Sandy Bridge hits in Q4 2010/Q1 2011. I imagine that it will take place in January or February of 2011. It wouldn't make sense to launch an update without it.

I got my MacBook Pro yesterday night. I went to the store to get it. I am absolutely in love with this machine and as I add my music and applications to it, I am sad to see the memory disappear. Well only like 30 GB has disappeared, I'm just being dramatic.

If you have or know someone with a Military ID, get them to buy the MacBook for you! I was with my grandmother and she paid for me and I gave her the money as a check. But she showed her ID and we got 100 dollars off! :D Thats 100 in my pocket.

Impulse Buy

So I wasn't expecting to get a new MBP -- I have an i7 iMac (LOVE it -- best computer I've ever had), an iPad (64GB 3G) and a 3 year old BlackBook and honestly use my portable machine very little these days.

So on Saturday I order my mom a 32GB 3G iPad and accessories for her birthday. Yeah, I'm an awesome daughter (I kid -- she's the one that's awesome and the iPad will totally change her life). While I'm in the Apple Store iPhone app, I'm thinking - man my power adaptor is janky and my warranty is good for like another two weeks, I should make a Genius Bar appointment to get it replaced. Then I'm thinking, man, I'll be in New York in few weeks for work and if I want to do video, I'm going to be hating my machine.

Next thing I know I've added a 13" base MBP and Apple Care to my order and pressed buy. The MBP shipped out on Saturday and the rest of the stuff is in various states. I hope to get it by Wednesday.

What can I say, Apple totally has my number and I'm hopelessly addicted.

Just ordered mine! Not from apple directly- from another online retailer who have listed the MPB 13" base model for £75 cheaper than apple @ £935.

I've also ordered a Intel 160GB SSD and a optibay WD 640GB drive.

Will be delievered tomorrow! cant wait! :D:D:D

If you don't mind me asking, could you let me know which online retailer it was.

Cheers

p.s. you could of gone down the education route (saved 13% instantly + free ipod touch, which u could of sold for approx £100). Just over 200 quid off if you purchased from Apple.

Well my MBP just arrived at my house but I'm going to be at work until 6 PM.

This is going to be brutal!

Sorry for the double post but I am officially typing on my absolutely gorgeous new MacBook Pro that I can't stop staring at. It's 12:30 AM here and I need to wake up again for work in 5 hours but I can't stop. Lmao.

Ordered MBP 15" i7 w/ high res. anti-glare and 500 GB 7200 RPM upgrades late night last Friday. Just received shipment notification and FedEx says delivery will be this Friday by 4:30 PM! I was worried because Apple's delivery estimate was showing delivery by Aug. 3 and I really wanted it to arrive before this weekend. I also live in Massachusetts, so I figured if it was going to Alaska first, it would probably take until the last estimated day. Glad I didn't pay for the 2-3 day shipping!

I was planning to buy the Momentus XT 500 GB to pop in right away, but Newegg is sold out. They don't even have an "auto-notify" button. Has it been discontinued or something? I checked a couple other sites and it was sold out too. Anyone know where I can get it for a good price right now? If I wait, will it still be easy to copy everything over to the new drive if I just go ahead and start loading files onto the built-in drive when the MBP arrives? Or, is it better to pay more for the Momentus XT from someplace that has it in stock so I can take care of that now? I'm planning on getting an external enclosure to put the built-in drive in anyway, so I figure I can use that to transfer if I wait until later.

I think I'm holding off on the upgrade to 8GB ram for a bit...heard ram prices are about to plummet.

Anyone else heard this? I'm going to be doing a lot of Photoshop work, so could use the extra RAM. How long should I wait? Is OWC the cheapest/best place to buy RAM for MBP?

What happens if you need to send in a MBP under AppleCare if you've upgraded your HDD and/or RAM? I know it doesn't void the warranty, but are you supposed to take out your upgrades when you send it in? Do I need to keep the original parts on hand and swap them back in before sending it in? OWC has a $50 trade-in rebate on the factory-installed RAM, but is there any issue with sending it in to them?

It hasn't been discontinued...it's just popular at the moment.

Why did you upgrade to the 7200rpm drive if you plan on swapping the drive?

Hey figured I'd add my new purchase

Yesterday I ordered my 15 inch MacBook pro 2.53 4gig ram 128 ssd hi-res screen. :D student discount helped out a lot. Also got the apple care and picked up a free printer and free 8gb iPod with the promotion they are running. Figured I'd sell them to pay the computer down and I have no need for them.

Super excited and just got an email that my printer and iPod are already on the way and will be delivered tomo, and I should be expecting my mbp in 3 days! I'm suprised at how short the wait time is!

:)

Just unwrapped my new MBP 13" and its truly amazing! Should probably shut it down to goto bed, given I'm up for work in 5 hours but... can't.stop.staring.

Happy 'mac'-y chappy!

mac newbee here

Well after 20 years of using pc's, I bought a Macbook pro 15"! I'm a techie kind of guy and I've always been curious about apples, so I sold some of my unworn watches and picked up a base MBP 15" today. I'm very excited and have been playing with it all day. I've worked on unix systems for years so I was happy to see the terminal application sitting there winking at me.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and I'll probably be asking some dumb questions in the future.

Dave

Been using PC for the past 8 years on my 8 year old compaq :) runs like a champ haha. I am about to buy a new 2010 MBP 13in base for my main for my first two years of college then selling it to buy the newer MBP. I've done my homework and i want to get the most BANG out of this baby since its pricey.
Here is my plan:
student discount -$100
Free Ipod touch after $200 rebate then selling for 180$
Free Wireless Printer after $100 rebate (keeping)
Purchasing with American Express. Benefits are extending my warranty by an extra year and 2% cash back.
so with that and 8.75% tax. So in the end I'll end up paying $1013.43 for my base mbp 13(two year warranty) and printer.
Anyone else have any suggestions to help me save/gain more?
thanks.
