Got my 15" I7 today! If I want to use windows for most stuff would that be really weird?

No it isn't weird, if people around you are using windows apps and do programming and stuff with windows then you'll have no choice. But if you're doing apps like photoshop, then you can get the mac version which runs better in OS X. The point of getting a mac is the compatibility and freedom to have both Windows and OS X at your disposal, and also of course the look, feel and design of the mac.

Had my new 13'' pro for a few days now, this laptop is worlds apart from my old 15'' dying dell laptop, this laptop is
very fast and what an awesome screen, watching Netflix is
a real pleasure now and looking thru my photos what a
difference :)

I ordered a MBP 15" i5 2.53ghz 4gb ram 500gb hd (upgrading those things later)
Im so freaking excited!!! But im a little confused, or rather annoyed by this:
So i put it up to two day shipping. Shipping began yesterday so it would be most obvious that it would arrive tomorrow, but tomorrow is sunday so you would think it would be left for monday, but on the tracking website, which is FedEx, it says the expected arrival is on Tuesday, before 7:00pm. Why a day late?

MBP 13"
£850 from amazon, a saving of £150.

It's a Christmas present... So HURRY UP SANTA!

I ordered my base model 15" MBP with the AG HR screen almost 4 weeks ago. Just got told by Leading Edge it'll be here in 10 days. Which is just before my birthday :D

I'm going to the apple store on friday to pick up a 13" pro base model. I am already going to receive the education discount, I was wondering if there would be anything more...doubt it though. One of my main reasons for switching to a mac after having a windows laptop through college is battery life. Its extremely annoying having to come to class earlier than anyone else so you can find a desk next to a wall w/ outlet...I will be going to law school at the end of next year and I wanna be able to sit anywhere during my classes!

I made my mind up about a MBP a long time ago, but I've just been saving for it, then time has came for it to be updated so I decided to wait a little longer. Anyway now fresh rumours suggest a new one won't be out untill April, I was wondering, could I go to my local Apple store (in the UK if it makes any difference) and order a 8gb ram 13 inch model instead and pick it up from there instead of buying it online?

I would go for it & tomorrow (Friday) may get you a discount. Online or in a store would work & I would skip the Apple memory - way overpriced - try Crucial.

Well when I say I have the money, I mean I'm due to recieve the money and it's allocated to my MBP so I can't get one tomorrow, not that I think there would be any, any noticable discount in anyway. The reason I'm after 8gb ram is to mainly just make sure it will run Lion smoothly next year. I can't see what Apple can bring out in the model refresh that will make it worth waiting for, and I'm someone who would still like to have the use of a optical drive aswell. That is though if the rumours are to be correct. I'm also going to get a Time capsule to save and run everything off there instead.

Hi guys!

Joined specially to say that I am a newly converted mac owner. It's been two weeks since I got my macbook pro 13. I used this forum/section a lot to find out most of the things I wanted to know so thumbs up to everyone here!

This is my very first forum post on my very first mac ever! I picked up a 13" MBP base this morning for $979 with no tax. Quite the steal, eh?
I've been a hardcore PC user since I was a kid, and I'm very excited about learning the new OS. It's hard getting used to the nuances of macs. I think the hardest part of the migration will be learning all new keyboard shortcuts, like using the command button instead of control.

I was going to wait till the next version came out before getting my first Mac book. I dropped and broke my 1year old HP and broke the monitor a few days ago. I ended up buying my first Mac today. I should have purchased one years ago. They are awesome.

I am such an Apple geek. My hubby just don't understand. Anyways my hp laptop plug in is broken, so I can no longer charge my laptop until we find the part to it.
We broke down and got the macbook pro today to take advantage of the black friday sale. :p
I got the 13 inch. I wanted the 15 inch but hubby said that it was too much and I have an imac at home as well that was bought in Feb. of this year.

Maybe sometime next year I can get the 15 inch and give this to my hubby. Think he'll let me? LOL:p

Just ordered my 15 Macbook Pro on Amazon. Excited!! but a lot of money. I still have questions about programs to protect the computer? I was going to wait to see what come out in April but I didn't want to so I ordered it before the sale if you can call it that ran out

Please stop saying "hubby", it pisses me off.

I got 2 mid-2010 13" MacBook Pro laptops in the past few weeks. One for $900. One for $500 with AppleCare. I gave the one with AppleCare to my mother. Happy holidays. :p

The other I am keeping for sound recording. I immediately upgraded the 250 GB HDD to a 128 GB SSD with a SandForce controller and added 8 GB of RAM from Crucial. This MBP is practically silent and boots in roughly 10 seconds (I haven't really clocked it accurately). Loving it but will definitely upgrade if they begin offering i5 processors for 13" MBPs. :D

Just got my new 2010 Macbook Pro 13" base. Added 500gb 7200rpm Black Caviar wd HD and 8gb of ram w/parallel which i haven't installed yet. I kept going back and forth between the 15" and 13" and Air and did the best of both worlds I guess! Love it so far. If they do upgrade the processor, I might do it but so far everything that I have thrown at this one has been great. I will eventually put a SSD in it but costs need to come way down before I can do that. :)

I've always looked at this stupid stickied thread but I've never had the delight to post in it but here we go!

I just bought a 2.53ghz i5 for 27% off retail!!!

It was the same price as a freak'n 13" !!!

I'm the king of bargains... bow to me.
