17-inch MBP on its way!

Just ordered a 17-inch Refurb MBP from Apple, specs are as follows:

2.66 Core i7
17-inch LED-backlit antiglare Hi-Res widescreen display (1920 x 1200 pixel)
4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory

Can't wait to get it...I also ordered 2 4GB sticks from Newegg to bring the RAM to 8GB.

Maybe this doesn't count, but I just purchased Office 2011 for the MacBook Pro I will be getting soon. Still saving up for the MBP but there was a great price on Office 2011 at Amazon.

I'll post when I actually order my MBP :D

Nova cases for macbook pro

Just so you know -
I was looking for a silicone case for my new MBP so I went to: http://caselogic.ecrater.com/contact.php (which I read about on this site)
contacted them, asked about the shipping, price, discount, etc.
Their replies were within hours. I used PayPal to pay for my case.

2 weeks later still had not gotten my case. They did not respond to emails until I filed a case with PayPal and then they replied that they were waiting on a shipment.

That was 6 weeks ago. PayPal closed the claim in my favor but there was not enough money in the account to credit my the $39.95 I paid.

Not only would I not recommend them but I would love for this to be sent out so others do not have to take the loss!!

I don't see any reason to get 8MB ram unless you plain to run WIN 7 64 bit

Just ordered by first MacBook Pro :)

15in - 2.66 i7
4gb Ram, 500GB etc etc..

Reading the forums on a constant basis and trying to figure out if I should wait for the new update expected in Q1 or Q2 and trying to figure out what will be included in the new MacBook Pros was just to stressful. I made the executive decision to just buy now. And boy does it feel good......

My suggestions for prospective buyers - if you can truly wait; then wait. If you need one now, buy it now (Something thats been repeated 100000000000000000 times in this section :p)

Looks like I'm finally going to become a Macbook Owner. I ordered the Macbook Pro 17" stock except for the 7200rpm version of the 500 GB HDD. I have a 8GB RAM kit on the way care of OWC as well. Should power through all of the RAW files I can throw at it. Needless to say I'm excited about it. Currently the status is "ships in 1-3 business days" obviously as I ordered it at 1 PM this afternoon it hasn't shipped. Hopefully it arrives soon as I need it for work ASAP.

My last Macbook was getting old, having airport problems and didn't like being connected to monitors [late 2006 (Black/2.0 Ghz C2D/667 FSB/GMA950/Geekbench 2760), the one with the noisiest fans ever]. It was time for me to upgrade to a macbook pro. I couldn't wait for the Sandy Bridge update, since I "needed" a computer.

Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz/320HDD/AG/Geekbench 5010 - blows away my old macbook

I got the 2.4, so that I can spend the saved dinero on intel's next 25 nm SSD. I gotta say this thing is sweet though, and I'm excited to put intel's next SSD in this thing and maybe even try the optibay hack too.

:D

Just gotmyself a 17" Macbook Pro this Black Friday (11/26/2010) got a killer deal from my local Best Buy. They had several "open item" MBP's. 2 of which were 17"

40% off!! so $1300 for my 17" MBP... I am a happy camper.

Added the 2 year internals warranty and a nice HDMI adapter. Total $1710

I should have posted sooner, but I got the base 13" MBP on Black Friday. My first Mac.

I have a quick request, but I did not want to liter the forum with it. Can someone provide a list of specialty accessory makers for the Mac? I know there are several and I sometimes see cool links provided here, but does anyone have a relatively comprehensive list? Think twelvesouth and the like.

my husband just bought me a 17" 2.66 i7 anti-glare hi-res. i am in love. it showed up a few days ago, and i had no clue he had bought it for me. i had been shopping for them online and trying to figure out what specs i wanted. i saved the info just for myself, and he snuck around and found it and ordered it. :D it was a refurbed one, and it is in perfect condition.

i'm coming from a 13" late 2008 model macbook, and this 17 is a glorious beast. i just need to name her.

!

I FINALLY got my MPB after weeks of anticipation. I finally worked up the money to afford the 13 incher! I am so excited!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Well my MacBook Pro shipped a few days ago! I've actually been tracking the flights it's been on and have been correct every time. I'm in NH and my MacBook Pro arrived in Newark NJ early this Saturday morning. It appears as though Fedex to saved time just brought it all the way across the country instead of stopping in Memphis. My delivery date originally was Tuesday before being pushed back a day to Wednesday after it hit its first scan point. Is it safe to assume that my MBP will be now two days early and arrive on Monday?

I finally placed the order for my :apple: MacBook Pro (15" 2.66 GHz i7 with Hi-Res Glossy Display and 7200rpm 500GB HD). I guess the one I wanted is pretty popular: just had to click on "MacBook Pro 15-inch with faster hard drive and Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display" :D

This will be a Christmas gift for my wife. This oughta get me a year's with of get-outta-doghouse passes.;)

Just got my latest MacBook Pro 15" 2.66 i7

While I was out in Germany for work, my co-worker bought my 3.5 year old Macbook Pro from me and I had ordered a new one from Amazon. Saved on shipping and tax. Plus it was on sale. I love Amazon! MBP and 1TB drive arrived 12/5 and I arrived 12/6. Still waiting on 2x 4GB RAM to come in to increase to 8GB RAM. :)

Just signed up for this forum. :apple:

Oh my - it has been 3 weeks

Yep - 3 weeks since my MacBook Pro 15.4", Hi-res AG screen, 2.66, i7 arrived and I did promise to report back.

I am a convert, having had PCs previously, so I was expecting a steep learning curve in the land of Apple but, actually, it hasn't been that difficult. I won't bore you with the "everything just works" routine - if you own one you'll know and if you aspire to owning one you will find out soon enough. The first few days were spent making this beauty the hub of my personal life. Music, video, photos, a massive iTunes library and all the other stuff had to be transferred (which wasn't so difficult to do), Mail had to be set up of course but as I use GoogleMail is was really easy. The other Apple things I have, the iPhone and the new Apple TV link together well and my most recent purchase (Airport Express) really helps by bringing more clever flexibility.

I can only say that I am impressed - hugely impressed - with the Macbook, Mac OS and everything. In fact the way it has all got under my skin was made very obvious this morning - half awake I was on my work laptop and was looking for the window control buttons over on the Apple side rather than where I've always had them on PCs.

Everything I've done has worked fine and the Macbook is now just a tool - a powerful one - that I use to do my stuff. Thanks Apple.

P.S. I may not always be so uncritical - nothing untoward has happened yet but if I find something worth criticising I'll be back here on these forums raising a storm.

Wow!!! I ordered the 15" 2.66 i7 4g 500g/7200 with hi-res glossy display for my wife on Saturday night and received it this morning using normal free shipping from Apple. She is so happy getting her first personal computer...all hers!!! I am impressed with Apple and their service.

So I must say, we are totally Apple...Mac Pro, MacBook Pro 17" (work), MacBook Pro 15", 2 new iPhone 4, and a iPod Touch!!! Now going after Apple TV.:D

Wow, I guess a lot of people want the same configuration I wanted (15" MBP 2.66 with the only upgrades being a 500 GB 7200RPM HD and the HR glossy display. I will upgrade RAM myself, and get a SSD at some point. Did not want to pay Apple's prices on those. The display cannot be upgraded and the HD upgrade was only $45, $1,170 for a 512GB SSD, to maintain the same capacity, is way too much) I thought it would be shipped from China (like my friend's recent MacBook purchase) but it's out for delivery now (sent from PA to me in VA, I guess his configuration was more unique!) Problem is I am out of town, returning tomorrow. I guess FedEx will have to hold it for me.

Is this for new MBP's only?!

Either way, hello everyone, I just purchased a 2007 MBP from a friend and I'm looking to read and post on this board about it! I frequently read the front page for the news but just signed up for the boards.

I collectively own

*2006 Mac Mini 1.6ghz 2GB RAM and 80GB hard drive with a 500GB external attached- running Snow Leopard
*32GB iPhone 4
*2007 MacBook Pro 2.33GHZ, 2GB RAM, 120GB Hard drive which I'm looking to upgrade to 500GB and it's running leopard currently.

I got it for a steal pretty much, friend had to sell a lot of his stuff and needed $ quick so he said $500 would take it so I bought it no second thoughts.

So yeah, I'm pretty happy about it, stoked to have a laptop finally and hope to post and read and gain more knowledge about my Apple stuff that I didn't know about!

Also sorry if this thread is for new MBP's only, I don't care either way I still happy haha

I just got a new 13" MacBook Pro today to go along with my 27" iMac, I plan to park it in the living room quite a bit attached to my TV, does anyone have any recommendations for a good Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter? I found this one on Amazon, which seems to be a fair price compared to some others. Happy to be part of the MBP club again!
