Writing this one my 13" Macbook Pro that I got for xmas. Taking a little getting used to (its my first mac), but am really liking it so far
I got my MacBook Pro 13 inch today for Christmas. It is my first Mac and I am really excited to have one. But I do have a few questions about certain things.
1. Does leaving the battery plugged in once it is fully charged hurt the computer in any way?
2. Should I be worried about how many times I have to charge it? ( Today I charged it once and am now on it after it was charged. )
3. Any apps that I should know about that would be helpful to me?
If this is in the wrong place or something I apologize. But I just figured that I would post it here and see if anyone could help me out. Thanks.
Same position as you, just got my MBP 13"I'm really concerned about my battery though I love to use my computer but all my other laptop batterys I burned through fast. Is there a way to keep the charger plugged in without charging the battery? I thought there was..
I ordered it by phone with an Apple tech guy.

Just got my MBP 15" as a christmas present. Its the i5 version and WoW runs great on it!! But it runs really hot, any tips as to continue or not continue playing WoW with my MBP?
I just got a MBP 15" with the 2.8ghz i7 processor, 4mb RAM, 7200rpm drive, and the hi-res anti-glare display for Christmas also. I have been running WoW on it since the day I got it. It runs hot when I'm playing, but not too hot to keep in my lap. The fan runs most of the time, but not ALL of the time, so I doubt that it is overheating. I have the graphics settings on max resolution (1680x1050?), and the ingame settings range from good to ultra, depending on the individual setting. WoW actually runs a lot better on my MBP than it ever did on my old Dell desktop.
I also bought a MBP 13" 2.66 4mb RAM, 1400x800, for my wife for Christmas (we got them for each other). She wanted the smaller one with the stock hardware. All she does is websurf and email on it.
Except for a few iPods that we've had before, these two laptops are our very first Apple products. The transition has been more difficult than we were led to believe. Hooking into the home wireless network was easy, but finding the printers, configuring email accounts, and just trying to figure out how to do very simple things was incredibly time consuming. There are some features of the Windows XP/Vista/7 platform that I find very useful and wish were incorporated in Mac OS, but there are definitely some things about the Mac OS that are very nice as well. From a new user perspective, I really don't find one OS to be superior over the other.
As far as the machine itself is concerned - it is a beautifully designed laptop. Definitely the finest that I have ever owned from an aesthetic perspective. I hope that it remains reliable and useful to me for many years.
All which you have described just takes some time. You need to get used to the OS if you have been a long time windows user. Can't expect it to be THAT easy from the get go. But congratulations on the nice gear - you have a pretty powerful machine there, that is capable of many many processes.
