Just ordered an i5 2.53 ghz Macbook Pro 17 from the refurbished store! cant wait for it to get here to replace my Dell XPS m1330 (13.3" ---> 17")

I had to go to the best buy to determine if i wanted the iMac 27 or Macbook Pro 17 today. after toying around i decided i wanted the 17" cause i can still take it to the Library.

Hello all, I am migrating from Windows to Mac and have just purchased my first Macbook Pro 13, it is a September 2010 2.4, 4gig, 250gb model, with 28 months of Applecare left on it, I paid £949 for it, was this price about right, over the top or bargain! Answers in a sealed envelope please.........:)

Hi all . . I defected . . Bought a MBP 17" i5 Saturday. Been a Windows user forever. This is my first Mac and I love it! Might have to get the Apple Care but generally I am not an extended warranty person. Looks like I have a year to decide.

Sold:
Late '08 Aluminum 13" MacBook
2 GHz
3GB RAM
120GB

Bought:
Current Generation 15" i5 MacBook Pro
2.4 GHz
4GB RAM
320GB

I just got my MBP yesterday! Woohoo!

I've been using one at work for a while now as well as a MacPro tower and I really like the size and weight of the 15" beastie so I picked up a Core 2 Duo 2.2 MHz and dropped a 320 Gig WD Scorpio Black into it.

Did I get a weird one? 17 inch i7 4 gb ram, 500 5400 drive, non-glare. The screen is gorgeous and in the ballpark, colorwise, and everything else seems fine, but the edges are so sharp they leave indentations on my hand if using the trackpad for any length of time and digs angry red scratches into my forearm if I'm using it on the couch or bed, vs seated "properly" at a desk. The area where you lift the lid has two really sharp points, as well, so even if you use it on your lap you can get stabbed. I have put low-adhesive cloth tape over the edges, and now it's digging into the tape instead of me (I've had to replace the tape several times this week, since the pressure against the edge rips through it. I thought about returning it, but it's a refurb in very good shape, so I was hesitating. I've seen the videos of people wearing goggles using files, sandpaper, and emeryboards on their macs, but htat seems crazy. Will Apple hone the edges for us, if brought in to the apple store? I would like to keep it, but .. dont want to wear the stigmata.

Before the VAT increase they retailed at £999 and you would find it hard to get it any cheaper. Now they retail at 1,020. I think you got yourself a pretty good deal.

Hey guys, long time reader/admirer of macs first time poster/buyer. Just bought my 15" MBP 2.53 ghz i5 4gb RAM 500gb 7200RPM HiRes Antiglare

Just curious when you think my new toy will be in my hands based on the latest tracking, (and yes I paid for the 2-3 day shipping) which means it should technically be here tomorrow in Phoenix, Arizona but I'm sort of doubting that. Anyone have any luck getting their extra shipping charge refunded?

Thanks for the confidence boost! Iv'e been using it for a full week now and have to say it's brilliant, got mt Toshiba laptop out the other day to transfer my files (with a Belkin Win to Mac transfer USB thingy, another great bit of kit!) an realized just how cheap the ordinary laptops are. Thanks Apple.

:D

Ordered my Macbook Pro i7 through amazon yesterday and the status is shipping soon and the estimated delivery date is tomorrow
This is going to be my first ever Mac and I can't wait till I get my hands on it. :D

I've been hanging out for the new models, but with my current ASUS laptop falling apart I can't wait any longer. 15" Macbook Pro on the way. My first Mac.

I finally bought a MBP last Friday. I got the 17" model and I'm loving it. I know the updates are around the corner (allegedly) but I'm not doing anything that I felt the need to wait for the new upgrades. It works beautifully for everything I've done on it. I picked up Office for $33 from my university and I'm all set.

I would have just kept the standard hard drive and then bought a better ssd for the same price.

The toshiba ones Apple currently uses are not up to par with IOP performance as the newer SSDs on the market.

But you will enjoy it :D

I did consider it but I decided I did not want to work on it to much. I am upgrading the ram on both did not want to do the hard drives on both computers and then load the OS as well. I guess I'm just lazy lol. BUT I do totally see your point apple can get a little price happy with their upgrades. $400 for 8gb of ram is insane when you can get it for $80.
