The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

"MBP 17/2.8/2X2GB/500/SD/GLSY-SWE"

What the hell is that? Is it a typo (the 17" doesn't have SD) or is SD short for something else?

Edit: Doh! SuperDrive of course.

Yeah I was totally fixated on the SD card reader which fortunately didn't replace the ExpressCard slot on the 17", so I forgot all about Ye Olde SuperDrive. Thanks though. ;)

yes thank god for that! i have many a time thought about changing over to the ExpressSlot for eSata for all my hard drives (currently Daisy Chaining a whole bunch of FW400 HD's) - im glad i didnt, a simple FW400->FW800 cable will let me change over now.

what will you be using your MBP for? 17" is a tad to big for me, and too expensive ha!

Are there any good sites that will provide me with benchmark scores for my 2006 C2D 20" iMac in comparison to the 13" MBP I'm planning on buying tomorrow?

Not fair :mad: I ordered mine Tuesday (320 GB and iWork Pre-installed) and it still hasn't even shipped. Arggggg...
 
I just bought my first mac, a refurb 15" 2.53 Macbook Pro. When I get it, is there anything I should do right away? Must have apps?
 
Just picked up a new MBP 13" last night to replace my MBA Rev. A.

As soon as I got home, I replaced the 250gb 5400 rpm HDD with a Corsair P256 (Re-branded Samsung) 256gb SSD and performed a clean install.

All I can say is WOW!

This computer is fast, really fast. I have a Core i7 desktop with 12gb of ram and the same 256gb SSD running Windows 7 and the MBP just feels so much faster, I guess I can thank OS X for that.

Couldn't be happier with the new MBP 13"
 
I love watching the updates to see where the package has traveled too. It is shipping to Oregon so after it left Alaska it went to

Posting from my brand new 15inch macbook pro!!! Just came into day at 9am. Nothing like waking up to the sound of your macbook being delivered. It was all the way in alaska yesterday and was expected to be delivered monday. So I am quite pleased with fedex right now.
 
Just ordered my 2.8 15"MBP. My first foray into 15 inchdom. Ive had 2 blackbooks and I only hope the screen is better. Custom configured the 500gig drive for a 320 7200rpm as I dont need 500gig in a lappy but I do need speed.
8gig memory on order already elsewhere. Doubt it will be as fast as my mac pro but hey for field work...............
 
Ordered mine Tuesday. It said 5-7 days for shipment, but I just got an email saying it had shipped this morning. Apple says it should arrive by June 16, but Fedex's tracking says June 18. Since I paid for 2-3 day shipping, it better not be 6 days before I get it.

MBP Ordered

I ordered a MacBook Pro (13.3/2.53/500gb) yesterday, June 11. It should ship in 1 to 3 business days with delivery June 15-19.

The terrible update made me future-proof by buying a prev gen 2.66 15" MBP
 
Ordered a 17" 2.8 w/ standard config which means it gets shipped from the Netherlands depot instead of China.

Placed the order Thursday evening. It was shipped with UPS around noon today (Friday 12th) some 15 hours later. Scheduled to arrive on Tuesday the 16th. Not too bad considering there's a weekend inbetween, so it's really just 2 full business days worth of transit (12th and 15th).
