I ordered my 2.0 15" with the HR Glossy Screen this past Friday (Mar-4) and I also have an ETA of Mar-10 shipping to Fremont. Finally upgrading 5 years later from the first gen 2.0 Duo black macbook. I CANT WAIT!!.... Bay Area FTW!

word!

I just tracked, my MBP arrived at Oakland tonight, still showing March 10th ETA, but I'm hoping it might show up tomorrow, or at least Wed. It's 30 minutes away, I'll go pick it up if I have to.

After a 6 day stuggle with customs, my new 13" FINALLY cleared--just in time for me to do some lab write-ups and a presentation that are in desperate need of being done. That'll be 3 weeks since my old logic board went out. Normally I wouldn't care, but it couldn't have come at a worse time. Should be here tomorrow, with a little bit of luck. My new external monitor & speakers have looked soooooooo lonely on my desk...

Woohooo
Hopefully it delivers today !!! I'm so excited :)
2.0 15 i7 with high res antiglare

Hey guys. New to the forum and the world of Mac. I've been an avid PC user since I can remember. Prior of owning this MBP, I had a total of 9 laptops till I converted to Mac as of this month; and boy I sure do love my MBP. I hope to learn a lot from this forum and will use as a tool of guidance. :D

Yup it's getting here today. I'm so excited!!!!

Just got my 13" 2.3 i5 today. Changed my signature asap. Upgraded from a black macbook 2.16 core 2 duo. This thing is super fast in comparison to the old one.

OK, this is going to be a bit sentimental, but March 8th, 2011 is a big day for me. I got my first computer (a Commodore 64) in 1988 (I believe) at the age of 5, and we got our first PC at home about 2 years later. The first OS I remember well is Windows 3.1, although I probably used 3.0 as well.

Back then it was all about games to me. I loved playing around with MS-DOS, frantically tweaking config.sys, autoexec.bat and command.com to try to make the PC run all the early Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest and Test Drive-games, and later Stunts, Myst, SimCity 2000, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Wing Commander, Strike Commander, Syndicate, Shivers and Phantasmagoria. I was also into early Summer Games/Winter Games and soccer games like Sensible Soccer, Championship Manager and the early FIFA-series. Not the most "artistic" games perhaps, but I was a kid.

My "gaming career" pretty much came to a full stop around 1999, but looking back I don't think I can remember a single install that went well without me having to tweak something. From 2000 to 2010 I've used various PC's and (Acer) laptops for regular stuff like surfing/writing, but also music/video work, and I've followed Microsoft all the way from Windows 3.0 to Windows 7, but I've grown increasingly tired of having to tweak and clean the OS.

I first thought seriously about leaving ship when Microsoft Vista came out. I just couldn't get it to work right, and I struggled so much with it. I have to say that Windows 7 was a massive improvement, but my whole chemistry is ready for a change now, and over the past 6-7 months I've frequented this forum, and gradually begun the transition.

I too have been one of those that were turned off by the specs and the Apple tax, but - and this might be a little weird, but it was actually buying an iPhone 4 with iOS that sold me completely. I love pretty much everything about it, and the word that keeps coming back to me is "intuition". I have just about no experience with Mac OS X, but from the videos I've seen, and the few times I've fooled around with it, and seen others work on it, it just looks so intuitive, dynamic and stable. It simply looks like a lovely environment to work in.

So today - after 20 years with Microsoft - I ordered a 17" (high-resolution matte screen) 2,2GHz i7 Quad-Core, 500GB (7200 rpm) HD (which I might upgrade to SSD when the SATA III HD's are available) and 8GB RAM Macbook Pro. Got myself an Apple Remote and a Magic Mouse as well. The store said that it will take about 2 weeks.

It feels... A little scary, but definitely exciting! My dream is simply to spend less time tweaking, and more time being creative. I hope I made the right decision. :)

First post from MBP Spring 2011 13 inch i7

Core i7, 2.7 Ghz
8 Gb Ram
128 Gg SSD
13 inch display

If you are running anything other than this, be jealous.
If you have a larger SSD on this configuration, **** i don't want to hear it.

That's actually the exact setup I want to get.

Still not sure about the 13" screen, though. How is it looking?
