congrats enjoy! i opted for the 750hdd because its replacing my desktop but i might do an optibay in the future with a 128 ssd we shall see :D

I too finally got my 17" AG SSD today. Couldn't be happier right now. Coming from a 2008 Macbook, so I'm totally in love with the highres. :D

Just ordered a nice little MBP 15" 2.2ghz SSD with high-res glossy screen.

No email confirmation as yet but all looks to be in order on the Apple site.

Can't wait! Need the portability so moving to a MBP from the iMac thats in my sig...

my 17" of pure gloss arrived today and I love it! ive just got to work out how the OS runs compred with windows:confused:

Just ordered from Amazon:

2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
750 GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD/CD SuperDrive, 4 GB DDR3 RAM
17 inch LED-backlit display, 1920-by-1200 resolution

Will have it tomorrow, can't wait

I have the 13" i7 as well, but it's stock (for now). When loading my music back into iTunes from an external hd, the process took FOREVER.

Question: would a ssd and/or upgrading the RAM help with this? If it's the ssd that I need, I'll get one when the prices drop a bit more. I plan on upgrading the RAM pretty soon anyway.

Oh, yeah...and sure, I'm a bit jealous. LOL

because I have 2.2ghz quad core with 1gb video card. My computer will actually do tasks requiring 8gb of ram. Not on a 13".

What kind of backwards thinking is this? You're telling me just because a person is using a 13" MBP that he/she does not need 8GB RAM because NO applications on a 13" need it???

Hater.

Actually in all fairness, seemed like the OP was trying to show off. I mean it stated he wanted people to be jealous of his computer, yes?

My 13" MBP 2.3GHz i5 has been delivered, but waiting VERY patiently till I can leave work.......

Why do YOU have 8gb of ram?

I have 8gb ram and a 240gb SSD and a 500GB SSD/HDD hybrid in the optical bay all in a poor little 13"
I travel a ridiculous amount so the 13" is the perfect form factor.
I am constantly running up 3-4 virtual machines at once at customer sites.

There are people that NEED 8gb of ram.

Simple as that :D

New MBP owner! Looking for all experts!! :)

I just got a new MBP.. 15in 2.0 quad core i7 with 4gb ddr3 ram and 500gb hard drive... I have used macs before as I am a Graphic Designer.. But I just barely bit the bullet and dumped money into a mac. I want to baby this thing!! Is there anything I should do with a new MBP?? Some recommend a clean OSX install.. I'd rather not unless its something that REALLY should be done. Also, I still have norton left from my pc.. Since I already have the program is it a good idea to put it on my mac?? Thanks for any replies! I'm ALL ears!

Congrats on the new baby! :p There is NO reason to do a clean OS X install. It's not like Windows, there is no bloatware, there is nothing... It arrives out of the box the exact same as it would be if you reinstalled OS X. Would just waste 30min - hour of your life :p Norton is probably the worst possible antivirus for PC's, and Macs are not susceptible to virus' or malware like Windows PC's. When a virus comes to OS X, it will be ALL over the tech world news. And Apple would fix it in a heartbeat. There's really no need to waste resources or time with that either :) Just enjoy your new machine! Best to go into it not thinking of Windows at all, the two are designed/used in entirely different ways!

Only reason you should bring that Norton over to your mac is if you're running Windows via Boot Camp or Parallels. Although, I agree that Norton isn't very good. I've always stuck with free editions of anti-viruses, AVG mostly, and have never had any problems.

So I'm buying from a local store (non-Apple) but Apple licensed. I have to wait till Thursday to actually order it, then I have to wait another 2 week. =|
I'm getting ready to go through hell waiting... It's going to be my first Mac, and it'll be a huge upgrade from my previous laptop.
