because I have 2.2ghz quad core with 1gb video card. My computer will actually do tasks requiring 8gb of ram. Not on a 13".

So, you're saying that 13' can't handle any tasks that would require 8gb of ram? you must know something we don't about how this computer's going to be used....

It got here this afternoon, last night it arrived at Oakland, which is about 30 minutes away, this morning it first showed arrived at SF, and then 30 minutes later it showed Out for delivery. It got here 2 days ahead of Apple's ETA, glad I didn't upgrade shipping. :)

It's SUPER fast, installing heavy stuff like Xcode, Photoshop, was super fast (while I was transferring 100 of GBs of stuff over via FW800 in TDM from old Mac, chose not to migrate this time for a lot of reasons)

Ordered a 15" MBP from Amazon yesterday after they dropped the price to $1714. It will be here Thursday. I would have liked a higher resolution screen, but I had so many Amazon gift cards that it would have been foolish to pay full price + tax through Apple.

I went to a store to get my first mac yesterday.
I had planned on getting the 13" MBP i5, but it was sold out so I got the 13" MBP i7 instead. :D

I am a very happy switcher so far!

Looks like Apple sent the shipping information to Fedex at 3:15 AM today. I got the optional two day shipping, but it looks like Fedex is experiencing delays in Memphis due to heavy rain last evening.

Loving this beast!!

Thanks! I am enjoying it so far!

Congrats on the new baby! :p There is NO reason to do a clean OS X install. It's not like Windows, there is no bloatware, there is nothing... It arrives out of the box the exact same as it would be if you reinstalled OS X. Would just waste 30min - hour of your life :p Norton is probably the worst possible antivirus for PC's, and Macs are not susceptible to virus' or malware like Windows PC's. When a virus comes to OS X, it will be ALL over the tech world news. And Apple would fix it in a heartbeat. There's really no need to waste resources or time with that either :) Just enjoy your new machine! Best to go into it not thinking of Windows at all, the two are designed/used in entirely different ways!

Thanks for the reply!

I've had it since Friday and so far I don't use it as much as I had expected. I'm sure that will change when I get my design programs on it. I am not planning on doing a clean install and although scary for me I will not put antivirus or spy ware on it *crossing fingers* I have a friend who has the 2008 version. She was about to get a new one as hers was running slow but I told her that she needed to free up hard drive space and get some much needed ram as it only had 1gb on it. Is there a disk defragment program for a mac? It also wouldn't be bad to know this for myself in the future.
Also, are there any apps you may suggest from the app store?? I hear people like their apps and widgets! :D

Just ordered my first eve MBP!! 2.0 i7 with the faster 500 gb hd, and high res anti glare display!! so excited!!

my 17 inch 2.2 just got delivered :)

$2448 total including overnight shipping. gotta love amazon.

can't wait to get home and get to work.

Got my first Mac ever- a 15" MBP i7!

I'm slowly figuring things out, but I'm fairly confident that I don't ever want to go back to my clunker of a Dell... Even getting on it to transfer files was depressing. :p
