Bought my 15'' Macbook pro 2011 High-End last week, and i can tell you, I'm so so so happy with it !

I Can even run Crysis 2 Multiplayer demo on max resolution + everything on max details ( around 30~40fps ). <3

If you can afford it, just go for the high-end guys, you wont be disappointed.

i just ordered mine! 15", 2.2ghz, 500GB 7200rpm, and antiglare. while the 2.3ghz upgrade was a little too much money for me, and the 128GB ssd was tempting for $90, i figured i would save the money and use it towards a next gen sandforce based ssd, which should be coming out real soon.

i have 8GB DDR3-1333 ram that i bought from newegg for $65, and my usual 500GB seagate momentus XT. cant wait for it to arrive!

just found out my order is being delayed because of the earthquake.

thoughts are with the folks in Japan

Sorry, but Shanghai is in no way affected and Fedex is still flying planes.

They missed a plane load, and yet those shipments were passed over when they resumed flying. I guess our expedited shipping isn't enough for them to give a damn.

UPS has has no issues with flights, this is strictly Fedex incompetence.

Can somebody tell me, what the 'built-to-order' means for apple?
I ordered my new mbp, and the salesman of the shop I made the order, told me that it will be shipped directly by apple, because I want 8gb ram and 256gb ssd, so it is not a base model.

A friend told me today, that he has been told by other shop, that most of resellers take the base models themselves, and change the hard disk themselves and add memory themselves. So the whole 'custom'(built-to-orde) machine, is not shipped 'as is' directly from apple, but it takes the 'final form' in the shop.

What is the truth and where is the lie?

I ordered my dream machine friday 11th march : 15" Hi Res, core i7 2.2 GHz, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon 6750M 1 GB GDDR5, SSD 512 GB. Delivery expected 17-22 march.

Seems each time new MBP are out, there's a natural disaster : last year it was delayed by Island's volcano, now Japan :(.

Just ordered the 2011 15" 2.0ghz model :D

Unfortunately, my Credit Card company sucks and won't give me a $2000 credit limit (too young), so I had to do a Wire Transfer, which takes 2 extra business days.

$1738 CDN, plus $35 wire transfer charge.

Total is $1773.

I'm getting the 15" baseline MBP on Wednesday from the local Mac Store. Has anyone in the Northwest (US) bought their Macs from them? How was it?

This will be my first mac and I'm so anxious to get it in my hands! I've been waiting over a year, this will be the longest 5 days of my life but I know it's worth the wait. :D

Just upgraded from the 2010 13 MBP to the 2011 MBP

Gotta say I am very happy with the upgrade. Apature and iMovie seem to be much snappier as well as multitasking word excel and lotus notes. I also ran Portal and WoW as sometimes when traveling I play these games and both ran well. Portal was flawless and speedy but wow had some odd rendering issues, the bricks on the gate of stormwind looked like they were missing a layer of testure. even with this it was playable at the same settings I used on the 2010 MBP.

What surprised me was how much better the screen looks on my new MBP. Its contrast ratio is much better, blacks are clearly blacker and whites whiter at the same brightness settings.

All in all I am very pleased with the 2011 13" MBP, the sandybridge i5 screams.

The rendering issue is probably due to the Intel HD integrated graphics instead of the Nvidia integrated graphics on the previous generation. I'm kind of disappointed that Apple went from Nvidia to AMD graphics on the MacBook Pro line. Still, I'm extremely satisfied with my new 15" MBP w/ 2.3GHz Quad Core i7. The new MBPs are definitely screamers! ^_^

That's what I've ordered except I've got the standard screen, mine is supposed to be arriving tomorrow but I can't access the tracking page to find out who my courier is :(

Anyone else having problems with tracking their UK order?

Been doing research for weeks, but I finally pulled the trigger last night.

15"/2.2GHz/8GB/128SSD/antiglare

I was initially thinking I would buy a third-party SSD, but I tire of having to break open my computers to upgrade them. Plus for just an extra $100 on top of the MBP price why not? The RAM, though... that was just pure laziness. $75 so I don't have to open the MBP up and worry if the sticks I get will work... sign me up.

Just got my new MacBook Pro 15" 2.3 GHz w/ HD Anti-Glare display! Sooo happy! :D

Edit: so it turns out I had a dead pixel... just exchanged it, now it's all good!

Just picked up the new 2011 13" 2.3ghz

Hey what's up everybody. Longtime lurker here, finally decided to join the forums after realizing what a great bunch of people you are here. I've had a million questions in regards to the Macbook Pro and the search function + your answers and advice have been awesome help.

Anyways, long story short, the gf bought me a Spring 2010 13" Macbook Pro 2.4 base model for Xmas. Little did I know the 2011 refreshed line was to be released so soon. Being the type of guy I am, always wanting the newest like so many others and after researching which Macbook Pro would best suit my NEED FOR SPEED  (Audio needs -Adobe Audition etc... I'm in the Radio biz) I decided to go for the base 2011 13". The gf was gonna buy a Mac anyways, so I gave her mine and I got the new guy.

After reading so many horror stories about problems people have had with the Mac's after taking them home to have keys popping off, scratches among other things. I decided to go for the quick 20 minute set up. I opened the box and took the Mac out and opened the lid, removed the white cover and BOOM  scratch near the trackpad. Took an even closer look and there were scratches and paint coming off the edges of the right hand side. I was embarassed  to be so picky about things like this, but I value the things I purchase. So, I told the girl about it and she took it back right away to replace it with another one. They were extremely understanding. Got the new box and did the same thing, BOOM :( black markings on the edges again, scuff marks here and there... I didn't know what to do at this point. Then the gf tells me, it's just dust and stuff from the black padding thats carried onto the mac. I start to rub them and they all came off... phew :D. I even got to the point of trying to wipe off the white led beside the infrared sensor lol... after remembering from the 2010 model that, it's part of the mac

Anyways, just thought I'd share that. Has anyone else experienced things like this? Anyone else as picky about scratches and things?

Is Wrapsol the answer to my worries? I tried to get ghostarmour but I've been waiting for a callback from them for 3 months now.

Oh ya, one other things for the audioheads in here, if you have any tips etc on how to optimize my mac for audio production that would rock.

Later

What you have should do the trick swimmingly, I'd just recommend sticking in a 7200rpm drive, if not a SSD. And depending on what exactly you do (lots of production plugins, etc.) and since it's so cheap aftermarket ($80-100), go for 8gb RAM.

Wow! So my Mac should be getting here tomorrow according to my tracking info. I'm so excited! I thought it was coming in the middle of the upcoming week, but I guess not. :D

My 15'' 2.2ghz 8gb 128SSD High-res glossy screen MBP is currently in Koeln, Germany according to UPS tracking. Hopefully arriving with me in the UK early this week!

It looks to have set off from China to Korea to Kazakhstan to now Germany, so getting closer... Apple site estimates a Thursday delivery but hopefully it may arrive sooner.

Can't wait! I have been without a mac for almost 5 days now lol...

OK everybody,
My first Mac on the way :D

It´s a 13" mbp with a 128 GB SSD.
I´m really, really looking forward to it ;)
