Hurray!

Just wanted to share my joy with you guys. Literally, I've got my Macbook Pro this afternoon (16/3). Actually it was signed by my brother and I am not home until next Monday, WTF!! Anyway, I was very impressed by the superb delivery service offered by Apple (or probably DHL). I ordered a CTO on Sunday night 13/3. It said it will take 3 business day to be shipped. The next day afternoon I was informed that it had been shipped. Wow, it took less than 24 hrs for them to process my order, build the machine and then ship (I think they have already had them built and just waited for us to order)! What a wonderful surprise. Since the estimation of arrival is 21/3-23/3, I never thought that the machine will be delivered by this week, it is 3 business days earlier than the shipping time frame (from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).:p

Edit: by the way, I used the standard free shipping.

Just got an email saying mine MBP shipped from SHANGHAI CN.

I live in Utica, NY. Is this normal?

Forgot to add, I am worried that my MBP is shipping from that distance. Read were some got theirs damaged.

I ordered my 2.0ghz 15" Hi-Res GLossy screen on Monday and got the shipping confirmation at 5.00am on Tuseday morning.

Tracking it with UPS, it landed in Germany on Tuesday night, then went to Kazakhstan and then to Poland today!
It will have visited every blooming country before it gets to me!!

interesting, seems like everyone else's macbooks are moving faster than mine.. ordered on friday afternoon, should be shipping today. will probably be here friday or so.

Ordered my refurb MBP over the phone from apple. I was treated great and am very happy (new to mac). I ordered last thursday, I asked him to hook me up with free overnight and I would buy it now, he actually credited me $28 bucks even though overnight shipping was only $23! was at on my desk by noon on Friday. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between refurb and new to be honest.

I pride myself in buying the best i can afford and was hesitant about a refurb, but there is no doubt in my mind i made the best educated decision!

Finally made the plunge and ordered my low end 15" with Hi-res AG screen. Will upgrade the RAM myself should i feel it needs it. Can't wait to retire my stalwart 2005 built PC.

Picked up my new 2011 17" MBP yesterday, first Mac for me. Taking some conscious effort to migrate my thinking from Windows to Mac, but really loving this machine!

just picked up a new 13" mpb base model :)
my first mac. i have a question what screen calibration settings are a good choice to use?

Had my high-end 13" for a week now. Literally the sexiest thing I've ever played with. My boyfriend is officially a letdown.

With the big-screen external monitor and badass speakers...let's just say that my work & media station are complete. Just can't wait to upgrade to 8gb RAM and a WD Scorpio Black - 750gb. Gonna hold out on the SSD until they come down a little. In a year or so will stick that in the HDD bay and stick the other in an optibay. Life is good.

so whats the estimate on the shipping time from shanghai to northeast united states? with expedited shipping of course...

I paid for the 2-3 day shipping, and (once it actually left Shanghai of course) it arrived at about 9:30am on day 2 :)Typically, with the things I've ordered from Apple, that's how it works. It usually ships from the factory within the time window specified, and arrives about a day earlier than the FedEx tracking number estimates :)

My turn! :D

Just finished the ordering process:

MBP 15" 2.2 ghz
Stock 750gb drive
Stock 4gb ram
Anti-glare hi-res screen
Incase Nylon Sling grey

And to beef it up I ordered this on the side:

- Vertex 3 240gb SSD from Dustin.dk
- 8 GB Crucial ram from Komplett.dk
- WD Scorpio Black 750gb 7200 from Dustin
- MCETech Optibay from shop.zapware.de
- Akasa Noir external drivebay from Komplett.dk
- Arctic Sliver 5 and Arctic Cleaninig kit from Dustin.dk
- Chilldesk XL mini laptop cooler powered by throughput USB.

SSD Goes in the main bay, partitioned into 100gb for windows, 140gb for OSX, and the 2nd bay the Scorpio will go formatted in exFat, hopefully allowing both os' to use it as storage.
The stock drive goes into the Akasa and will work as storage for all my raw footage.
If I dare and the temps seem to high when windows'ing, I'll do the thermal replacement and see if that can keep the heat away a bit. Don't like those photos posted of the default paste applications in the new MBPs.

I really really hope this will work out and cause no problems (especially the Vertex 3 :S)

Photo/video editing and rendering here I come! :D

"Prepared For Shipment"

What is usually the turn around time from "Prepared For Shipment" to "Shipped"?

My CTO 13" i5 with 500GB drive arrived today. I've transferred all the files over, and all appears well.

I really love the screen - it looks so much nicer than my old 15" Santa Rosa MBP from 2007.
