Macbook Pro

Ordered my Macbook Pro and should have it sometime Tuesday!! Can't wait!!! will be my 1st ever Mac computer!! I got the 13.3 inch screen!!

My BTO 17" antiglare showed up today, FOUR DAYS EARLY! Needless to say I almost gave the fedex guy a big wet kiss.

Planning to get everything set up by tonight but I am flippin stoked :D

It was such an agonizing wait, but I finally got my 17" BTO today! Spent half the afternoon setting it all up.

Picked up my new 17" yesterday. Due to my parent's pre-unibody macbook pro dying they wanted my unibody one (for whatever reason) and I upgraded from a 15" to a 17" quad. It's standard spec at the moment (2.2GHz) but it's getting an 8GB RAM crucial upgrade tomorrow as well as an expresscard USB3 adapter on order and when I save up the money a SATA III SSD of some description (Stock disk will go into a USB3 enclosure).

I never realised how much difference the extra 2" in screen real estate makes. Until now. (My old 15" was a hi-res 1680x1050).

Also, the speakers on the 17" are SO much better than the 15" presumably since they have more space available and what not.

The new computer is also getting better battery life than my old machine did new!

*Edit: Ordered 8GB ram from Crucial and have a Vertex 3 240GB on order. Cant wait for them to arrive (using my old 750GB as a usb3 drive via expresscard)

Ordered a refurbished 15" 2.4GHz Intel Core i5. For the price of a brand new 2011 13", it was a no-brainer. I still think Apple should've offered an i5 15-inch in the 2011 lineup...but oh well.

Edit: Also, it's amazing to me that Apple can charge that for that particular 15" model, then try to sell refurb Core 2 Duo 15's from 2009 at similar prices...kind of messed up really.

I just picked up the same refurb model today. I guess I got the last one because it was out of stock 5 minutes after I checked out. When did you order yours?

A little before 9 PM EST I'd say...I have had the page open all day waiting for stock to be available, refreshed, saw it, jumped on it. Definitely seems to be the hardest 15" to keep in stock...at that price though, no surprise!

ordered my 17" standard badboy with 500gb, STOKED! and officially a broke college student! WOOOP! can't wait till the fedex truck pulls up!

Finally the saving is over and I've just ordered my 2011 MBP 17" with AG and 128GB SSD. Thanks to all those who have made this forum so useful to me in deciding to take my first plunge into the world of Macs. Now I just have to wait to 7-12th April :(

If I try to configure a MBP on the Apple website and add it to my cart it says available 1-3 business days. Is this not the case? Is the wait longer?

That means that it will be sent within 1-3 business days, the actual transport takes time as well. Mine was shipped from Shanghai to Sweden, ordered on a Tuesday, got it the next Monday. Also said 1-3 business days, since it was BTO.

Yesterday I'v ordered my MBP 17/CTO. It will be dispatched within 3-5 days ->>>>>>> delivery date 01-06 April.

Just finished the ordering process:

MBP 15" 2.2 ghz
Stock 750gb drive
Stock 4gb ram
Anti-glare hi-res screen
Incase Nylon Sling grey

And to beef it up I ordered this on the side:

- Vertex 3 240gb SSD from Dustin.dk
- 8 GB Crucial ram from Komplett.dk
- WD Scorpio Black 750gb 7200 from Dustin
- MCETech Optibay from shop.zapware.de
- Akasa Noir external drivebay from Komplett.dk
- Arctic Sliver 5 and Arctic Cleaninig kit from Dustin.dk
- Chilldesk XL mini laptop cooler powered by throughput USB.

SSD Goes in the main bay, partitioned into 100gb for windows, 140gb for OSX, and the 2nd bay the Scorpio will go formatted in exFat, hopefully allowing both os' to use it as storage.
The stock drive goes into the Akasa and will work as storage for all my raw footage.
If I dare and the temps seem to high when windows'ing, I'll do the thermal replacement and see if that can keep the heat away a bit. Don't like those photos posted of the default paste applications in the new MBPs.

I really really hope this will work out and cause no problems (especially the Vertex 3 :S)

Photo/video editing and rendering here I come! :D

Great would love to hear your feedback ! I'm awaiting the Vertex 3 240GB already ordered 8 GB of RAM. Right now looking for the best Optibay and external drivebay. The Akasa Noir is USB 3.0 which is sadly not supported by the MBP.

Yeah Mine says 3-5 days for dispatch but then the delivery is down as 7-12 April. Its coming to Manchester England if that makes a difference?

3-5 business days I guess would mean that it will be dispatched Monday-Wednesday next week, (28-30mar), so they are then giving the carrier anywhere between 8 and 14 days (inc weekends) to deliver it!? How can anything take that long these days, and if it can why dont Apple have some sort of paid for express delivery option. back in Jan i ordered a new lens for my SLR from hong kong and it arrived within 48hrs and that was their standard free delivery!

Hmm I think I can see why now. I also ordered VMware Fusion as part of the same order. As Ive just tried to order the exact same MBP through to the checkout and on its own it says 4-7april for delivery, but as soon as I add VMware to it it goes to now showing 8-13th April! I've tried to change my order so to remove VMWare (i didnt think it would be a problem originally as that was ready for dispatch in 24hrs so thought it surely couldnt slow the process down). but it wont let me remove it as its now saying prepared for shipping just on the greyed out cancel items box though.

Pain too as I have 2 Apple retail stores close by i could have gone to, or used Amazon or just got it in a different order from apple :( oh well, i guess its a lesson for others.

Will keep you posted

My first Mac, a new 15" 2.2 Macbook Pro arrived!

Well, to update my earlier post, mine was bought on Thursday afternoon, shipped Friday and arrived via Fedex on Tuesday afternoon.

I had said I was like a kid waiting for Santa, and man is it a cool Christmas! Even the packaging is cool!

The thing flies and for day 3 of being a new user, I'm not doing bad. It found my Windows based wireless network, wireless printers, etc. with no problems.

All is well!

I have to say, applications work like Windows wishes they did. Everything is better!

Hey, I'm a convert!!:D

Finally!

Just purchased the base 13" Pro and cannot wait until it arrives on Monday!!! My first Mac, I'm almost excited as the first time I had sex!
