3 1/2 year old daughter spilt a full cup of water on my year old 17" mbp.

Took it to genius bar today and it's fried. Picked up a new 15".

Been restoring the profile for the last few hours but cant wait to play with it.

"prepared for shipment" the suspense is killing me
Ditto.

I'm just happy that apple let me return my previous-gen MBP 17". The new ones came out on the sixteenth day, but apple let me return it anyway. Maybe now i'll get over my bitterness from the apple vs. creative days. Long live the nomad jukebox 6GB

Wooo! So after it saying would be 3-5 days to dispatch and arriving 7-12th April, I've just had an email saying it's shipped (after just a day and a half) and will be with me by the 7th if not before. Moving in the right direction. Though Apples order status system seems to be down so I cant see where it is. maybe thats a good thing tho as otherwise i'd be on it constantly to see if it had moved any closer to me :D Excitement definetly building now

Ordered my 17" MBP yesterday at 5:00 PM... opted for the $18 expedited shipping option... hoping to get it by the end of next week.

Specs:

17" Anti Glare Widescreen Display
2.3 ghz i7
8 gb ram
256 gb SSD

got apple care as well.

picked up a speck case and magic mouse to go with it, and i'm anxiously awaiting the first thunderbolt hard drive to be released.

Purchased through the educational website so it saved me about $400.

I, like the rest of you, am drooling over the thought of hearing my doorbell ring and getting that package. And it's spring break... I fear I may be locked up in my room for a few weeks once i get this bad girl.

Yesterday I'v ordered my MBP 17/CTO. It will be dispatched within 3-5 days ->>>>>>> delivery date 01-06 April.

On the 3rd day my order has been shipped. Delivery 31th March or before :)
Hoping for a fast 3 day delivery this would mean I`ll get it on the 29th of March.

So far I cannot trace the parcel carrier is TNT !?! Only heard of UPS as a carrier with the mbp 2011 before.

Destination: Germany

Plane watching..

I had the unique experience of seeing the Fed-Ex DC10 carrying my MBP on approach today.

Right time, right place, thanks flight-aware. Can't wait for my first quad-core!

I don't seem to be able to track my shipment :(. I had an email on the 25th saying it had been shipped and in the email it named the carrier as 'Syncreon Technology'? But when i use the track my order button it doesnt give me a carrier or tracking number instead for both it says 'In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly.'

After two days it still says this so i phoned Apple who have confirmed its shipped but according to the telephone opperative it is coming from China (as id gathered from it being BTO and seeing others tracking logs). But apparently I'll only get a tracking number once it gets to the UK. Is this normal? How come others can track it step by step from China?

I'm buying my first MacBook Pro today!

Sorry for the noob question but should I charge it all the way before I fire it up or can I turn it on and just start using it? I'm just looking to not have any battery issues.

Not that I've even got mine yet, so I don't really know. But I was reading this about proper calibration last night

Hope that helps

You can turn it on and start using it. Be sure to calibrate it, so your battery readings are accurate. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Newb

I just bought my first MacBook today, a Pro actually. All started with the iPhone, then iPad and now the MBP.

I love this thing. Very nice and easy to use. Very fast. OK, back to playing, I have a lot to learn.

Can I buy a longer charging cable?
It comes with an extension:

I am in college and currently use my computer to do microsoft word and browse on the internet.

So I bought a new Macbook Pro 15 with 2.3 ghz, 8GB, 512 GB SSD and antiglare high res screen for $3900 before taxes. (9.25% tax in S.F.)

Am I crazy?
