Just ordered a CTO 17" 2.2Ghz i7 MacBook Pro tonight :D I'm a web designer/developer and went for the AG display after countless Apple Store visits to make sure I was set. Went for the 128GB SSD as well, couldn't resist it after seeing a YouTube vid on how quick it was.

This makes MBP #2 for me, my first was a 2007 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo that I used at my last job. I had to give it back when I moved on to a new job this month, so the latest refresh was perfect timing!

Can't wait for it to arrive sometime next week :)

Just ordered my first Mac! MacMall had a great price on the high end 13" when going through the Apple Insider referred link. Couldn't wait any longer!

Ordered my MBP 15" with the high res display and 500gig 7200rpm drive on Sunday.

Not scheduled to arrive until the 12th of April :( Starting to wish I'd gone into the Bullring store in Birmingham and seen what they had in stock.

I know its built to order but it was dispatched yesterday and there's no way in this day and age that something should take two weeks to reach the UK from China.

man, this computer is a BEAST!!

battery life if flippin phenomenal, my temps are super low (idles around 37 C), havent heard the fan once, and did i mention how fast it is?

no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, keyboard is just fine!

soooo happy!!

though it's going to take forever to get it setup properly (already started though!)

I just ordered the 15" MBP with the following specs:

- 2.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
- 4 GB RAM
- 128 GB SSD
- HR AG

Decisions, decisions...Because of all the options to choose from, I keep double guessing myself on if I should've gone for the 2.2 with the better video card, went with a normal hard drive, or with the standard resolution display.

Since I will be using the system for development, my reasoning was the following:
- I don't need a large drive (have NAS for storing larger files) so the SSD will make things faster
- AG will be good for the eyes, HR is good for having multiple things up at the same time
- I don't need the better video card since I won't be playing games.

Hopefully, this will be a good config and my doubts will be put to rest when I get it. I would appreciate input from others that had the same decision-making experience.

Hi there ive been lurking for awhile and finally decided to create an account since I ordered my first MacBook ever on tuesday.

I ordered the base MacBook Pro 13' Glossy 2010 refurb for £200 off the price of the current gen, to be exact. I bought an iPad last year and got sucked in so im super excited for my new MBP. They shipped it out last night via UPS and it has said since 7 this morning that it's out for delivery on the UPS site but still no sign of it. Kind of annoying because I had plans today really but ill gladly wait for it hahaha.

Just really hope it get's here tonight and they dont postpone it for whatever reason.

Really hoping it gets here today so I can get some audio recording done on my Blue Yeti Mic for a VO audition. Blue Yeti doesnt work on my PC for some reason lol.

I got such a slamming deal!

Just got my 2011 base 13" and I am in love! First Mac ever and I am sorry I waited so long. Picked up an iPhone 4 to go right along with it. Best part: I paid $1075 total with Apple Care! Thank you Ebay and Paypal for your awesome deals and coupons!

Received my 17 inch MBP today. Somehow it got loose in the box and was bulging the front of the box. When I open it, it was out of the inter packaging and the plastic seating was cracked. Interestingly, the adapter cables were not properly wrapped up. It almost looked as though they had been previously opened and crammed back in the box. I watched a few unboxing videos and mine did not match theirs. Now I'm going through the whole replacement process with Amazon. They told me there would a 1-2 day delay in approving my replacement. Looks like I'm out of luck till next week. Needless to say, I'm not a happy camper.

Congrats, man! Would you mind breaking down how you got the 2011 base 13" with Applecare for only $1075?!? I know you probably used one of the 10% eBay coupons but I still don't see how you got everything that cheap! :)

My MBP 17 was delivered yesterday!

2.2ghz

500GB HD
Anti-Glare screen

and Adobe CS5 Creative Suite!

This machine is a beast. I've only used an iMac and that was at school...This is my first Mac computer.

The person selling it had won the Pro with Apple Care in a contest and didn't need either of them! I won with an ending bid of $1175 - 10% coupon ($100 max) and there ya go! Everything was brand new still in plastic. I still can't believe the deal I got!

I think the usually quote the arrival date much later than it usually ends up being, just in case. I ordered a CTO Monday and it shipped within 3 days, arrived in Japan 2 days later and I should get it today or tomorrow.

Well I did it--took the plunge and got the higher end 15" with the 2.2ghz quad i7, even though my early '08 MBP works just fine. I'm hoping this new one, which ought to be delivered Monday or Tuesday, will be the one that lasts me 4 or 5 years. This is the 4th Mac I've owned in 9 years and the 3rd I've used as my main machine (still have a MacMini I barely use). Can't wait to get it rolling.

I as well pulled the trigger and opted to get a 15" 2.2/Hi Res/8Gig/128 SSD/Higher End. I wasnt "in the know" about getting cheaper 3rd party SSD and Ram. However, i recieved it a few days ago and this thing flies. literally is so fast i cant even keep up with it. It loads and i have safari open in about 17 seconds. Best purchase i have ever made.

By the way, i only use this computer for web, word processing, excel, and very light photo editing. So this thing should without a doubt, last me for 5 years. Oh, and its immaculate. I smile every time i take it out of the bag at school. and so does everyone else. :D :apple:4Life.

Just ordered a 15" Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz 128Gb SSD Hi-Res Anti-Glare from macmall. No tax & free shipping as well as 3% off my order w/ a coupon code & also 3% cash back from my bank. My first Apple computer purchase!! I can't wait to try it out! I was a little bit disheartened when I was searching through the forums & stumbled across this thread talking about overheating issues & discussing how to replace the thermal paste for the CPU & GPU! Either way I can't wait to try out my new Mac! :apple:

Hi,

How did you get the 3% off on the MBP? I tried going to researching online but didn't find the coupon. Do custom-built systems ordered through MacMall ship directly from Apple?

It's arrived!

The delivery speed was amazing. BTO MBP ordered on the night of the 23rd, shipped on the 25th and it arrived to me on the 30th :D.

Apples tracking and delivery estimate system is useless though. When i ordered it it told me it would arrive on the 7th-12th April after 3-5 day dispatch. it then gets shipped in 1.5 days and arrives a full 8 days before the earliest first estimate. and the only time i got a tracking number was after it had been delivered!

I'm not saying that i'm not thrilled its arrived already, but surely in this day and age a company like apple would have a better system than this.

Anyway, rant over!

This thing rocks! it boots in under 15 seconds and everything just screams along! I think i might need to upgrade the ram at some point so i can run windows via VMWare but other than that. :D

Very nice. What was the total price -- $2,300 + tax?

I've ordered the same config but with the 2.0 GHz processor.

Nice, congrats!

I ordered the exact same spec as you on the 30th, it actually just shipped out from China this morning :) 15 secs boot up time, damn - can't wait!

I'll be running CS5 and Parallels Desktop w/ Win7 so I'm already looking for RAM deals in my area.

It's strange you didn't get any kind of tracking. Usually you can track it as soon as it's picked up by the carrier.

As I said before, Apple and other companies will sometimes give you a later initial estimate to cover themselves in case it takes longer than expected.

Just bought a NEW 2.2 MBP No thanks to the "Apple Store" in Boise Idaho

I went to the apple store in Boise, Idaho hoping to be able to get a new system to replace my 4 YO macbook pro. When I get to the store, they only have 3 different configurations ( none of what I wanted ) and the store personnel tell me to go online to order what I want... WHAT? You only have 3 different configurations?? So I leave the store somewhat sad that I would not be getting a new machine. I then remember that we have a store that was the only Mac store in town before the Apple store opened. MacLife, so off to the store I go thinking that there is no way they will have what I am looking for because they are just a Mom and Pop. Funny how wrong I was... Here they were with exactly what I wanted:
15" MBP 2.2 GHz with a 500 gig 7200 and a no glare screen. When I told them that I wanted 8 megs of ram, they state "no problem and we will do it for half the price of the apple store" and when I stated that I worked for a company that gives me a discount, they stated again " no problem we can match that price as well, just look it up here and we are good to go" So here I sit.. HAPPY that a local company was able to take care of me better than the MotherShip store in Boise.....

Hi,

How did you get the 3% off on the MBP? I tried going to researching online but didn't find the coupon. Do custom-built systems ordered through MacMall ship directly from Apple?

As SPEEDwithJJ posted you can click the buyers guide on the appleinsider site or you can follow this link which automatically applies the 3% code http://www.macmall.com/n/macCustomPages-803?source=APPINSDRMWB27133

Also, check your bank or credit card company for any additional cash back deals. For example, Bank of America has a cash back program called Add It Up. Any purchase made with your Bank of America card through Macmall.com earns you 3% cash back. Mine is built-to-order but is first shipped to macmall & they then ship to me. I actually had them bump me up to next day shipping because of the extra wait. My total was $2370.68 for a Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz 15" HiRes Anti-glare w/ 128GB SSD. I may or may not get an additional $70 cash back from my bank...not too shabby :D

Just got my new standard Macbook Pro 15 2011. My first Mac. Im NOT going back to Windows again after this machine!;)
