Entry-level 13" 2011 MBP > my out of pocket was less than the low end iPad and AC, and since I figured out a work around for my wrists, very happy.

Need the low resolution for now (helps a good deal when comparing documents btw my 2010 iMac and the laptop).

I'm sure Apple is sick and tired of my indecisiveness. I originally had a Base 15, traded that in for an MBA Ultimate and now I just traded that in for the high-end 15". I was so hung up on the extra $300 that I kept trying to find other ways to compensate.

Lesson: It's worth it just close your eyes and go for the best machine out there. Yes, it was very expensive but I felt so limited with the base model's GPU. Now, I am officially content with my purchase. It will last me for years to come! :)

Nice, congrats!

I ordered the exact same spec as you on the 30th, it actually just shipped out from China this morning :) 15 secs boot up time, damn - can't wait!

I'll be running CS5 and Parallels Desktop w/ Win7 so I'm already looking for RAM deals in my area.

You wont be disapointed! Though dont be suprised if your boot time is more like 25 seconds to start with, as mine was. then after various updates and other applications installed and a couple of days of using it it now boots in 15 seconds (from the startup chime). the only thing i can think that i actively did to try and get this to happen was setting the boot preferences to look at the ssd first when booting rather than cd etc. this is my first MAC so im not so familiar with this process, but i followed a suggestion someone else had put up on Macrumors somewhere.

just ordered the following spec after i sold my old iMac

15" - 2.3 i7
128gbSSD
anti-glare

I'll upgrade the RAM myself to 8GB, wasn't confident about doing the SSD myself though, already have a 640GB portable drive that runs off the USB to hold all my music, videos ect...

now all I have to do is be patient and wait till its delivered.

Ordered a refurb 2010 15" 2.4ghz i5 over the weekend for $1269, coming tomorrow :) Can't wait

Planning to wait until summer to get an SSD (after I have saved some money..lol). Now I should jump on the big optibay thread...

I ordered a 2.2GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro Early-2011 from MacMall on Saturday evening. Waiting for them to ship it and give me a tracking number. Getting a little anxious because it's now almost the evening and still no tracking number and I've read some bad things about MacMall via Google...

Assuming that you ordered online from MacMall, have they called you up to confirm your purchase yet?

I did order online but I did not get any calls. I chatted with the customer service via their website and the guy assured me that it "will ship anytime today". But, it is getting pretty late, 5pm my time.

Just got my 2011 13in at microcenter today for $999, jumped on it after seeing the sale price. Almost bought it last week, glad I waited a couple days.

Oh, I see. MacMall usually are very "paranoid" about fraud/security & they'll tend to call the customer to confirm the online purchase(s) before sending the item(s) out.

I can't speak for others but when I previously bought stuff from them, they always gave me a call to make sure that I'm the one who made the purchase before sending my order out. I guess it is good for our protection but it really is annoying especially when you're "desperately" waiting for your shiny new gadget to be rushed to your doorstep. :)

made the switch

Last week I ordered and today I received the 2011 17inch 2.2 GHz 4mbRam 500GB 7200rpm drive. At some point will attempt to boost the RAM on my own.

Been reading here faithfully for about 5 months and finally pulled the trigger and jumped ship. Lots to learn but seems do-able.

Ironically I was going to have to run windows to be able to connect to work from home but now there is a beta version of our work site that runs in safari....just found that out today.

First impressions---this thing is real slick.

OK, apparently they had a "power failure" at their warehouse that prevented them from doing any shipping today, and they are not willing to upgrade my shipping for the delay. Go figure...

I've been using a 2011 MacBook Pro 17" 500Gb 7200rpm with 8Gb RAM (upgraded after purchase) and it is absolutely awesome! This machine is much, much faster and easier than my old company-owned Lenovo laptop. With 8Gb RAM, I can fire up IntelliJ IDEA, at least 2 browsers, TextWrangler, and plenty of background supporting apps and processes and the MCB runs like a top. I do not know how to read the RAM/VM usage very well but all seems great from my user-perspective. Also, the fans hardly turn on at all. I just wish I remembered more on how to use the Mac OS X (I'm an oldie from System 5, 6, 7 days) but I'm getting the hang of it again.

Does a MCB costs more than a comparably equipped laptop that you could customize from Dell? Probably, yeah. But, face it, its not a Mac.

YMMV but I love my mileage.

I ordered a refurbished macbook pro 13 inch last night around 9:30 pm yesterday. It's 7:49 am in the morning where I live and I still didn't get a confirmation email from them. I checked my spam folder, and still nothing. Is this unusual for apple to have their customers wait this long for a confirmation email. Any other site I order from, the confirmation email is sent to me within 30 minutes after i order.

You ordered late and it's still early in the morning...give them some time :)

I just called Apple today to return my custom MBP since there is a scratch at the bottom back of it. TNT will send their courier to pick my MBP around early next week. I am not happy at all.

Assuming everything goes well, I should be ordering my very first Mac this weekend; a 17" MacBook Pro.

Any advice on what to check for to make sure the device is in perfect shape right out of the door?

my new 15" MBP was shipped this morning, so should have it on monday, just need to go buy a case for it now, one that'll fit snug in my bag.

Just received my CTO 17" 2.2GHz, 128GB SSD MBP this afternoon (ordered on March 30). Damn you weren't kidding about the fast bootup time, out of the box it boots up in 20secs from chime to desktop screen. I recorded a video of the bootup and will post it online soon. Damn I couldn't be happier :D
