The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

had my new MBP for about 2 weeks. first time mac user and i'm loving it. ive been using my MBP for everything while my PC gaming machine lays dormant....

still thinking about upgrading to a 6Gb SSD..... but with all the compatibility problems, i dont know....
 
Just Bought 17"

Best Buy had a sale- 2350$ for the 17" (2500 retail). I went in and asked them to match the Student Discount from the Apple Store and got it for 2150$ before taxes... GREAT DEAL. Also got a free printer as well (after rebate).
 
got a 15" MBP last week. Holy crap is this thing blazingly fast and an absolute joy to use.

It's my first Mac ever and I came from a Sony Vaio running Vista :eek:
 
I ordered a 2.2/4/750 refurb but then decided I wanted AGHiRes and ordered a new one (edu discount). The Refurb came in like 3 days standard, the new one hasn't shipped yet :(

I also bought a 8gig pack to install myself, CAN't WAIT!!!
 
How long does it take for BTO's to ship?
The refurb i ordered shipped in a heartbeat and was here in 3 days (standard shipping)
 
Well just ordered my MacBook Pro 13.3 2.3GHZ refurbished from Apple, after days of researching I went into the Apple store this morning and had a play and a chat with a guy who worked there, asked me what I need it for and he recommended the basic Pro straight away.
Just ordered now from Apple going through Quidco saving another £25 so in total I got a refurbed Apple MacBook 2.3 i5 for £825, saving £175 from new, well happy.
 
WTH? My computer just shipped from China to MISSISSAUGA, ON (I live 20 mins from there) now it went to Tennessee?? to come back to Canada... does that make any sense? Unless MISSISSAUGA, ON is some other town other than the MISSISSAUGA in ONtario..

Hurry up computer!!
 
Just ordered a 13 inch i7 with 750 g hard drive after my HP crapped out on me. First mac pc (I already own a 32g iPad 1 w/wifi). I can't wait. After using my mom's snappy mbp it is really hard for me to use Windows anymore. Next stop is an iPhone when my contract is up. :apple:
 
I got my MBP 15" 2.2ghz, antiglare, 500gb/7200rpm , yesterday! i was so exited!!! Untill i found out it was DOA :(! i'm calling apple store again on monday to arrange me a new one! i reeeaallly hope it will arrive fast, as i have allready been waiting 3 weeks for my DOA!

I just got my first 15 MacBook Pro yesterday! I've had the thirteens for the past year but really wanted something to power games. The quad core i7 is amazing and the card holds it's own for only being a 256gb card. The best thing too is i picked this baby up at best buy for an open box price of 1550! Someone sadly returned it so I decided to give it a good home! Now if I can only add 8gb ram, 512ssd, and Lion! Then I will be a happy customer!
 
Just Ordered

Just ordered my macbook pro from apple,(it will be my first time seeing/using a mac ever) got the 13 in 2011 model, upgraded the hdd to 500gb got a free Epson Stylus NX420 All-in-One Printer and i purchased apple care for 1725.00.
a usb external hdd should be fine for me to xfer my music over from my pc correct? and anything i should install when i recieve it :D

Just ordered the hi end 15'' Macbook Pro with Hi-Res glossy screen and a 500gb 7200rpm HD. I am upgrading from a 2008 Black Macbook. Cannot wait to get my hands on this blazing fast system! I plan on upgrading the RAM to 8gb and when the ssd prices come down a bit upgrading the HD.

I appreciate all of the users in the forum that helped me decide on my final purchase.
 
Have just won a 2010 MBP for $840 in mint condition, and warranty. Will definitely work great for me!
 
I recently received a 13" MacBook Pro as a graduation gift. I am both grateful - and in love. I have been on this laptop everyday thus far. I absolutely love it.
 
Just bought a brand new 2.3 i5 at the Apple Store here in Md. So shiny...

I miss the screen real estate of my iMac but I'll live.
 
I just bought a 15inch core i5 320GB MBP(refurbished). It says it should arrive on the 14th. I really can't wait. Very excited about my purchase. Never had a Mac computer before.
Actually i purchased a 14inch white vaio w/ bluray dr and 500gb and core i3 processor but i am selling it basically for the same price i paid when i first bought it from Best Buy about 6 months ago.

Not sure it's much of an upgrade but at least im making the switch .
 
Just got my quad core 2.2 i7 with hi Res antiglare, 750 HD, I put in my own 8gigs and this baby FLIES!!
 
Just got my 15" 2.2GHz MBP 2011 with anti-glare display. Absolutely stunning. The matte display is perfect (no more reflections!!!) and I'm more than happy with it coming from my late 2010 iMac.
 
Ordered my 15" base quad core with hires antiglare. Putting in my OWC SSD and 8gb ram when my baby comes. Happy :)

I just got my 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro back in April! (I'm a little late, but still just as in love as the first day I got it!) I got the base model, but upgraded to the 500GB hard drive rather than the 320 (for only $45 more, it was a no-brainer!).

I originally had my heart set on a 15-inch hi-res so I could take advantage of the quad-core, and the extra screen real estate. But it turns out that I am very content with this mac, and I love the portability! I have it in a black Speck satin-touch hard-case, and it looks very sexy while still being protected.

I was coming from a crappy Asus netbook that was fun for the first few months, but turned to ***** after a year. I have a feeling my new MacBook and I are going to be together much, much longer <3.:apple:

Okay, glad to get all that gushing out of my system! Hehe.

Portability?

I had concerns after reading many people comment it was not as "portable" as the 15". I guess they never owned a 17" MBP and maybe were comparing it to a 17" HP, ASUS, Compaq or other Windows based notebook. This is SLIGHTLY larger in physical size than the 15" MBP but about the same size as all other 15" notebooks. In fact when I bought a case for it, I ended up with a 15" Notebook Case from Targus. The case carries the 17" Notebook, all necessary extras and also my iPad.



Speed?

Does this need to be addressed? Quad-Core i7, 2.3 Ghz with the standard 4 Gig Ram and it is extremely fast in handling what I throw at it. I do plan to up the RAM very soon.



Now many people have told me to look at an SSD as a " speed upgrade ", but in all honesty I do not see any real value in doing so. I boot up and start apps once a day, and leave them open the entire day. In fact this week I booted up on Monday installed my three main apps, started them up and they have been up ever since.


SSD's are fun, but they are too small in storage size and yet to large in the price point factor.

If anything I would like to get a larger HDD, I mean t he 750 Gig HDD is fine .... but I sure would use more space if I had it!
