Glad you ignored the haters and are happy with your 17" AG 2.3. Just one thing...

Now many people have told me to look at an SSD as a " speed upgrade ", but in all honesty I do not see any real value in doing so.[....]

SSD's are fun, but they are too small in storage size and yet to large in the price point factor.

My Apple SSD seems to make a difference. It's cool if an SSD is not the right choice for you, but you don't want to act like some of those 15" owners and diss what you don't have. I'm getting so annoyed when I go back and use my 15" with the 7200RPM HD that I'm thinking of getting an SSD for it.

Lol @ the SSD comment.

SSD>HDD any day, its worth every dollar. Buy an Optibay for storage.

You'll never know how bad a HDD actually sucks until you go SSD.

Ya, there's not a mechanical hard drive on the planet that can come close to the everyday performance of an SSD. Even if you don't launch applications all the time its a tremendous upgrade. Highly recommended.

Yesterday I ordered: Refurb. 15in MBP 2.0GHz Quad-Core Intel i7 Glossy (Feb 2011).

Delivery expected for tomorrow, I'll be camped out by my front door until then. :apple:

Just made the move, I've been itching for too long, couldn't wait for the BTS. Everything just feels right, it's a match made in heaven. Can't wait to make my upgrades.

Still at Pudong airport (PVG) after completing clearance processing yesterday afternoon. Hasn't budged till evening (8pm here) today. :(

Just ordered my first macbook pro last night.

Upgrading from a white macbook 2006.

Got a 13 inch 2.3 w/ a 500 gb hard and 8 gb of memory. Couple of questions, which is the easiest way to transfer files from my macbook? Is microsoft office available in the app store?

Today I was using my Lenovo X100e and it got a nasty virus, and I had to use Lenovo recovery (Fixed it). But I really hate using this computer for daily purpose. I had an iMac 20" 2.66 C2D a while back, was a member of this Forum back then. So I thought to my self, I am starting college soon (Why did I wait till I am 20 to start college?) and this pos barely makes my needs now... So I went a head and placed an order at MacMall for a new 13.3" MacBook Pro dual-core Intel Core i7 2.7GHz.

Should be here tomorrow, it's been overnight via Fed Ex. I also opted for free Dell Printer and Parallels (Will sell both). Plus jumped on Applecare.

As for the price, $1,826.11 :( (Before rebates)

Just got my 13 inch core i5 with SSD. Lovin it!

Have a couple Qs:

- How can I get my dock to magnify whatever icon i am hovered over? I thought dock does that where as you move your mouse along the dock what ever you are hovered over gets bigger?

- My laptop is super hot near the battery area. Is this normal?

Apple > System Preferences > Dock > Check the "Magnification"

As for the heat, it is normal for it to be hot near the hinge of the laptop, because that's where the heat is released, depending on how intensely you're using it at the moment

Received my base 15" with HR AG. 8gb ram and OWC mercury pro SSD installed and I'm good to go. A day earlier than expected, thanks DHL. God, I'm a happy camper. :)

just recieved my 2011 MBP refurb! 2 business days after it shipped from the apple store. Condition is like new, so far so good :D

Heading out to pickup my MBP now.

I've used windows my entire life and have never touched OSX outside of (very) lightly to cover for the Apple rep when I worked at Best Buy.

Anything I should know? I'm assuming I am going to feel fully dysfunctional and completely confused for the first few days but it'd be nice to know the basics.

Off the top of my head the #1 question would be how would I capture my screen to send, say, a picture of my desktop to someone? Windows has printscreen, Mac has...?

How would I copy (similar to windows CTRL C copy CTRL v paste)

And is there anything I should know? :) Thanks!

command-shift-3 for whole desktop, command-shift-4 for a portion of the desktop (you'll get cross hairs you can drag around the area you want to capture) and command-shift-4 then press space to grab a window (cursor will change to a camera and then just click on the window you want to grab). The screen grab is then saved as a png on the desktop itself.

Wow!!! I'm impressed!

I got my new 15" 2.2 with 7200rpm drive a few days ago and installed 8gigs of the Kingston 1600 Ram. I did the geekbench test (32-bit) and got a score of 10305! That's crazy!

I've been able to do a couple test renders as well and the MacBook Pro makes quick work of what I've thrown at is so far.

Needless to say... I'm thoroughly impressed! :D

I just ordered a new 15" Macbook Pro 6750m 1GB, 4gb(I'll upgrade to 8), 500GB 7200 RPM, and High res Anti Glare.
I plan on swapping out the optical drive for an 80GB Intel X-25m SSD I already have the optibay and SSD.

Excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally think it's nearly impossible to remember the combo, so an even better option is to use 'Captur', it's an applet that hangs in the top bar of your mac. Just click it and it gives you all kinds of options for different ways of taking screenshots, once you take one, it prompts you to name it.

Very VERY useful.

Can't wait till next year. I'm going to bag myself a beast of a 17" :D

Anyone have any idea how much my MBP will go for on ebay? The specs are below:

- 2010 15" Macbook Pro
- 2.66GHZ Intel Core i7
- 8GB Ram
- 256GB SSD
- High-Res Anti-Glare Screen
- Top Quality, no scratches.
- Original Price : £3000 (give or take £50)

Finally just ordered my first Mac. I've been using friends and relatives' Macs for the past couple of months but I'm finally getting my own. This is a big step considering not too long ago I was an Apple hater and vowed that I would never use or own a Mac.

I got the 2011 13" i5 MBP and upgraded to the 500 GB HDD. I took advantage of the Back to School sale so I'll be able to get some free software. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can start using/learning the OS. I'm still a complete newb when it comes to OS X.
