The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

I have been reading many of your posts I feel bit jealous that you got a better i5 or i7 cpu. I still have a Powerbook G4 that I bought 5 months ago and I was shocked I won a Mid/Late 2007 model 15in MacBook Pro off eBay I can't wait to get my hand on my first used (shrug) MacBook Pro next week!

I will be getting this one next week hopefully but I am wondering how GOOD is this model? I heard some issues about nVidia card...not sure about other issues? Oh I know it is a Santa Rosa model....So tell me about it.
 
New to Mac switching over from PC. Just ordered my MBP 13 with I7 and upgraded to 128 SSD. Im really impressed with Apple products and service thats why im switching over.

Still keeping my Gateway notebook tho. Amd processor, Ati radeon graphics and hd screen. Not a bad deal 3yrs ago for $397 brand new.

So i say hello to you all, ill be on this forum alot.

I finally got the new MBP...had to do a lot of research before doing this purchase and MacRumors forums helped a LOT. Thanks guys!
 
Got my 17" mbp. Did a lot of research and MacRumors helped a LOT. Switched from PC to MAC so still trying to learn.
 
My 5-year-old White Macbook finally gave up on me about a month and a half ago. I thought I could survive on another laptop with Ubuntu on it until I could save up for a new MBP. I couldn't stand not having everything "just work" (and Ubuntu's supposedly the easiest Linux distro!) so last night I said "The hell with this I'm buying a MacBook Pro tomorrow and figure out how to pay for it later."

So here I am, posting from my new 13-inch 2011 MacBook Pro. Here's hoping I make enough money to pay for this before the credit card bill arrives. :D
 
Quick question that doesn't merit its own thread!

Will leaving my MBP plugged into the charger all the time affect the battery life?

Should i charge it as i go or should i be looking to turn it off and charge in full then use?

Sorry if it seems a dumb assed question just want my machine to last as long as possible!
 
Ordered a 15" MBP, Anti Glare screen and the 7200 500GB HDD yesterday afternoon from the UK HE Apple Store. Dad ordered/payed for it though (don't have the full money right now, and he's got 0% balance transfer for 9 months ;D)

Didn't get the confirmation email though, and the order status is down :S

However, I went onto the American store and that order status is working, and it's listed as processing. However it says that expected shipping is 27-29 Dec 11? That can't be right...surely? Could it be that I'm viewing it on the US page?

Edit: Found out why, printer had 3-4 month waiting time for stock, cancelled it and reordered it with another printer yesterday, 21st Sept :3

Leave it plugged in if you can. You will save cycles on your battery and therefore prolong its life. My wife did this with her old 2007 MB and the battery still holds a good charge (we just upgraded her to a base 13 MBP).

I am so glad right now.
The last windows pc (a laptop) in our home just got crushed by a brand new 13" MacBook Pro Base Model and I really love this beast.

This morning:

Hmm, why start the iMac just for some web browsing? I start the laptop instead (LG model, about 3 years old).

---Pressing the start up button--- and i wait...... I decide to make some coffee while waiting and just when I'm about to press the button on the coffee machine i hear the start up sound for windows vista. Finally i think for myself and walks to the pc and it's loading some apps.........more waiting....and when the wait is done there is messages everywhere about system updates and windows security essentials updates...... and there is more waiting + restart and more waiting.....

When i finally manage to use the computer i do some web browsing and notice that one of our big computer and electronics stores is offering the 13" MacBook Pro Base Model with almost 10% discount.....and suddenly......

........my fingers have pulled the order button for collect at store and 1 hour later i stand in the line to pick up the brand new MacBook Pro :D
 
just ordered my 15 in MacBook Pro. even though I love the look of the glossy screen, I went with the hi-res anti-glare. 500gigs @7200. 2.3 i7. can't wait to get this! how long is shipping most the time? I did the 2-3 day. will I be happy with this? first laptop and Mac ever. hope it's fast and will last. is there anything I should look at for when I get it?

i built to order mine. i ordered on wed and thurs it was shipped from shanghai and i got it at 9am this morning. so i would say awesome shipping from over seas. would of had it sat if they would do sat delivery

where do you live? I live in il. so I'm hoping it get it by Friday. I would be so happy. it would suck to wait till Monday or tuesday! :/
 
My first MBP is now in the house

It's nice I installed full office 2011 and vmware fusion.
So far fast and I have no heat issues.

bad wifi in mbp 17"

I just got my new mbp 17" and I started having problems with my comp. loosing the connection with the router. My iPhone also started to loose its connection. I have the top of the line router and it was working great with my 11" air, my 13" air and my 15" pro. Now that I settled on the 17" mbp and have had it foe 3 days I am loosing the connection almost every time a go on to check my e-mail. I had geek squad coverage but I am waiting till my extra ram comes before I take it in to get it installed.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their new 17"pro?
I waited till I could get the one with lion pre installed and on the box so it is the latest one made. I have restarted the router and it still shuts me off the network like once a hour or more.

it happens when just 1 is connected. But the router can handle many hook ups. I was able to run 2 on-line x-box 360's playing and my wife would be on line at the same time. now since I got the 17" I get cut off when I am the only one using it. we have dig. cable modem with comcast. The router is the Netgear 3700. It is only about 1 year old and this is the first time that I have had any problem. When I am disconnected, all the lights are still on and the router seems to be running fine. I did disconnect two lines the other day that used to go to my son's old room that he had hooked up to his laptop and x-box but were no longer needed. I am thinking about getting a switcher in my room because I have a line run outside the house to my room for my PS3 and x-box. I didn't want to run another separate line, but I will if I need to. Or I could get the New Netgear 900 if that is better.
The net gear supports many hookups and selects the 2.5 or 5 bands with multiple hook-ups and it was working great until 4 days ago.

I haven't had any problems this morning. Late last night I moved the wired connection for my gaming up to the top hole of the router where I had removed the 2 lines that we weren't using anymore. Maybe that helped. I think I will still get the new 900 router soon anyway because it says it has better reception and some other improvements.

ive had problems with routers at the 1 year mark before, they dont make them to last too long to keep us buying more, but try reseting it, sometimes they just get over loaded with all these devices on and off them
 
got my macbook pro yesterday morning. it was due friday but in my city already so i called and asked if i could come pick it up. i took a cab right away. everything seems to be awesome. i was so excited!!! only thing is the battery seems to go kinda quackish...thats to me. and how do i use spell check when typing? if I'm spelling something wrong and they give me the word, how do i choose it or correct it?
