FINALLY ordered my new baby:

MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display base model.

Sold my old MBP (see sig) a couple of weeks ago and have been working on my ancient PowerBook and *shudders* a Win 7 machine. Would have loved to wait until the next update but I need a new laptop now. When my finances allow, I will upgrade to 8 gigs of RAM. Unless my unit is a lemon, I think and hope this one will last me a long time. :apple:

Finally received my computer.

The good:
Flawless keyboard and body, hinge, backlight, quiet fans etc.

The bad:
One stuck/dead pixel which can't be fixed using the online tools. :(

Guess I will call Apple tomorrow to schedule a repair because I do not feel like sending this thing back to China for a replacement.

Hi guys! I just ordered my first Mac! I'm so so excited. I've been waiting a long time. I ordered the base 13 inch. I couldn't wait, so I expedited the shipping. I already have a 500GB external hard drive, and will be buying a sweet deal 2 TB for 119.00 as a another backup. (It was cheaper than paying 300 more for the next level of 13inch.

I am so so so excited I can barely contain myself. It delivers this Thursday! I for see many sleepless nights playing with my new toy!

My MPB arrived! I transferred my iTunes and almost had a heart attack. I only have 50 gigs of space left already :( VERY sad face! I really didn't think my iTunes library was this big. I'm wondering if I should have got the 13 with the 500 gig hard drive instead. Or do most of you guys run your iTunes library off an external hard drive? I guess I could do that again, but my hope for upgrading from my ****** Dell laptop was that I'd never have to run iTunes that way again. *Sigh*. I need to think about what to do next.

Besides that caveat, I LOVE my new MBP. I'm quite obsessed.

how big is your internal hard drive

Ya I have 500 but I'm thinking of swapping it for a 1tb

I just got the scoop from Apple. You actually have to go through a full return process, wait for the refund and then you can re-purchase. The support rep said you'd like have to mail it back too. :(

I think I'm too impatient for that. It's ok...I think I'll manage. I will just have to be selective I guess. :(

Hard drives and ram are user replaceable read the little manual they gave you to see how you can get ram and hard drives much cheaper than apple charges, a good site to look at is www.newegg.com

Just picked up the same machine for $999 at Best Buy. I got them to pricematch MicroCenter's price. Saved me $$$$$

Great little machine too. I work on a 27"imac all day and was worried about the 13 inch screen beig too small, but for my purpose it is just fine.

Back to Apple with a new MBP...

Hi everyone, it's been a few years (over 20 yes, I am old) since owning an Apple computer, I just picked up my MBP and wanted to see what you all thought.

I've been researching a bit and it looks like the MBP cycle is about to refresh but I though the deal was good so nabbed it.

It's a MBP i7 2.2 (MC723LL/A), got it at Best Buy as an open item, they were marked down $200 already and since it was an open item it was an additional $200 off...they then had a coupon for $100 off any open computer bringing the total discount to $500

$1699.99 was the total and tax was $131.

Everything seemed fine with it, even though the box looks like horrible and I'm missing the power cable and mag safe (said nothing missing on box) so I'm going to try to get that tomorrow, even without it it might not be a deal killer...

How do you guys think I did?

Looking forward to interacting with you all!

Thinking about returning my 13 macbook pro to bestbuy and buying the refurb on apples site now. $929 is a smoking deal, and i have purchased many refurbs from Apple and have never had an issue with any of them. Doing that will save me $70 over the already great $999 price i got from Best Buy on a pricematch.

Yes i know it seems kind of cheap, but although I have many gadgets and toys, i always try to get the absolute best price. Kind of an obsession i guess.

I just came home with my refurbished 15" MacBook Pro. 4 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive, 2.4 GHz processor. Running Snow Leopard. Yay! This replaces my 7-year-old iBook G4.

My new 15" is on it's way to me today!

Massive upgrade from my macbook, really pleased with the upgrades.

Ordered the upper-level 15" with hi-res antiglare display plus a $100 printer which I'll get the rebate for. Glad I waited for the refresh.

ordered a 13" refurb 2.3ghz i5 last night for my GF. She's coming from a PC and I'm sure she'll be excited as an early graduation gift.

Had my base model MBP 13" for just over a month now and I'm LOVING it, it's just soooo quick at doing everything! Loving Mac OS X also also.

This is my first ever Mac and it won't be my last!!

Previous to that I had a Dell Inspiron 1525 (C2D) running Windows 7.

Ordered my first MacBook Pro on the 24th. Should arrive on the 3rd :p 480GB SSD ready, 16GB RAM ordered. This is my powerhouse.

Finally going to upgrade my old laptop; I'm guessing the new 15" 2.4 GHZ MBP with hi-res anti-glare display I just ordered will run a couple of circles around my old Powerbook G4... :D

Just ordered my first MacBook Pro to replace a long line of Dells.

$1359 (less 5% ordering through DiscoverCard) got me:
15" MacBook Pro
Feb. 2011
2.0ghz Quad Core i7
4gb Ram
500 gb Hard drive
Discrete Graphics w/ 256 mb (I decided this wouldn't bother me because I'm not gaming with the computer; only reason I went with the 15 vs 13 was the added screen real estate for working with multiple documents)
Running Lion.

Can't wait for it to arrive Monday! Just think, 2 months ago, I had a Droid and a Dell notebook. Now, iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro.

Here's my config.

Configuration

2.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display
Keyboard/Users Guide-GBR
Country Kit-GBR

I also ordered separately

16GB RAM
480GB SSD Drive

I'm looking forward to the 3rd.

Just received my 13" base macbook Pro refurb from Apple for $929. It is perfect as are all the refurb products I have ordered from Apple. Also just returned the one I got from Best Buy last week for $999 ( got a price match).

Saved another $74.20 ( with tax) and really got a nice machine.

Saw the updated 13" model but for me it wasn't worth the difference in price.

I use my 27" iMac at home where I work, but sometimes I need more than my iPad and don't always want to be stuck at my desk.

I've been lurking on here for a few days, finally decided to join since I need some help.

Long time Windows user, swore off Macs like an idiot. Used Logic Pro and fell in love with that DAW. Ditched Reason and Ableton on Win7 and moved over immediately. Got rid of 2 HP laptops and 1 custom build desktop. Now just on 1 MBP. Threw in a 160GB SSD and this thing flies. Running into some issues which I think are permission errors since I am using the 750GB as my file drive and the 160GB as the OS/Apps.

Glad to finally have gotten my head out of my *** and move on over to the intelligent side.
