I got my 2.26GHz 13" MBP on thursday, then found that there was a rattling in it. When taken to the Genius Bar they found an extra battery screw loose beneth the RAM! They then replaced it with a machine with seemingly no issues. I'm irked about the 1.5Gb SATA, but not enough to think its a bad machine. It's name is Bertrand Pierre.:D I love my new MBP....

I ordered my 15" MBP last tuesday, and I have been tracking my shipment. Apple said around the 16th, and the fedex site still says the 18th. However, I live in Columbus,Ohio, and my packege left Memphis TN today at 3 PM. On the map on the FedEx site it says 2 days from memphis to c-bus, yet the estimated delivery is still set for the 18th? Is there any chance it will come early? I never use FedEx, I'm usually a UPS kind of guy ;). What do ya'll think?? Could I se it tomorrow?? Tuesday?? This is my first Mac, and I have been waiting for several months for WWDC so that I could buy one without having to kick myself for not waiting!

I've never seen Fedex estimates turn out to be wrong. I hope I'm wrong because I'm in the same boat as you are. Apple said Tuesday and I ordered 2-3 days, but it's been in transit from china since Friday and fedex says the 18th is when it's due.

UPS... do they work weekends? I don't mean do they deliver on weekends, they don't (unless you paid for Saturday delivery).

I'm asking because there were lots of events on Friday (Origin scan, Departure scan, Arrival scan, another Departure scan). The last tracking entry is a departure scan at 1:26 AM on Saturday morning. After that, nothing. I'd understand if the last entry was an arrival scan on Friday before everyone punched out for the weekend... or maybe they don't update tracking data on weekends? Nah, that can't be it.

Mine also left Memphis at 3PM earlier today and I'm hoping that it gets here by Tuesday.

Update to post 543, 561.

All shipment travel activity is displayed in local time for the location
Jun 13, 2009 8:41 PM Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN
Jun 13, 2009 7:56 PM Picked up SHANGHAI CN Package received after FedEx cutoff
Jun 13, 2009 6:31 PM Shipment information sent to FedEx

Notice from Apple said ETA June 17, FedEx says June 18, I'm guessing because the package missed the cutoff time.

Looks like our laptops will be on the same plane :

Mine's expected to arrive in SoCal on 6/18 by 4:30. The FedEx guy is usually in my neighborhood at 9:45 am though.

Here's to a safe flight!:D

Seems as though all of ours will be buddies on the same flight:

Jun 13, 2009 12:21 PM Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN
Jun 13, 2009 12:09 PM Picked up SHANGHAI CN Package received after FedEx cutoff (BLAH!)
Jun 13, 2009 4:47 AM Shipment information sent to FedEx

Estimated delivery: Jun 18, 2009 by 4:30 PM (Even though Apple said 17th )

I'm pretty sure that this flight will go out late tonight, possibly before midnight EDT as midnight EDT is approx Noon in China.

Pray for a safe flight!!! I know I am... harder than I've ever prayed! :p:rolleyes::D

Well, after being a loyal PC user all my life, I have finally bit the bullet and purchased a 15 inch 2.53 MBP. I'm supposed to receive it hopefully by Friday (I got the expedited shipping), and am anxiously awaiting the arrival! I'm sure I will be surfing these forums an awful lot trying to learn Mac's way of doing things haha.

be careful about ebay applecare. sometimes they open up the box, email you the code, and after you've left glowing feedback, call apple and cancel the applecare. They claim you don't need the box, so they will email you the code, and you can get the software for free through the apple website. no wonder it's so cheap! Ebay applecare is less likely to be a scam if they will mail you the box.

Good deals can be had on amazon (and other websites). Apple authorized resellers should be a good bet. The academic discount on applecare from apple directly is a steal, though. :)
Well yeah but there are also a lot of e-bay sellers who are OK. You are right though, one must be careful. A little research pays off.

Welcome to the Apple world. Be careful though. Apple products tend to multiply very quickly! I started with the iPhone and within 3 months I had a iMac, Macbook, AppleTV and Time Capsule. :)

Mine's been 'in transit' 30 mins from my house since Saturday. I'm really hoping I'll get it Monday but not counting on it. Once it's in your city, do they usually arrive 1st business day?

I am in the same boat as you. I will buy driving 2 hours away to get my MBP 15" 2.8ghz on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, not sure yet. The reason for driving that far away is to take advantage of the Free Ipod Touch deal. Also be getting $200 off with the Student Discount and $110 off the $350 Apple Care program also.

I got my "new" 15" MacBook Pro with ExpressCard!

Ever since the keynote at WWDC 09 I had a dilemma - I have a 3.0 Gb/s SATA ExpressCard for my first generation Core Duo MacBook Pro to access my various array for external hard drives.

My old MacBook Pro is long overdue and I was planning to get a new one right after WWDC however guess what?? No ExpressCard slot for 15" and for a few days I was weighing between should I get a 15" for portability (and I do need to carry it around) or a 17" for ExpressCard compatibility .

Over the weekend I went to one of the Apple Premium Reseller and found they are selling the 2.66GHz former top of the range 15" MacBook Pro at the same price as the current 2.66GHz MacBook Pro! What a relieve! :D

I know I will lose out 2 hours of battery life and have a smaller hard drive (320GB Vs 500GB) but I am happy with the older model just fine - have everything I need and no compromise!

I just wish Apple hadn't swapped the ExpressCard for SD slot and I could have bought a 2.8GHz but I do realise I may be one of the minority (single percentage digit according to Phil).

So my macbook has been shipped from China, then Alaska, later California, and finally it is in Seattle.. The last 3 FedEx tracking updates are as follows:

Jun 14, 2009 2:51 AM At local FedEx facility SEATTLE, WA
Jun 13, 2009 4:09 PM At dest sort facility SEATTLE, WA
Jun 13, 2009 3:54 PM At local FedEx facility SEATTLE, WA

What are the odds that it will arrive tomorrow? It is scheduled to arrive on the 17th by 4:30.. Yet- i am only an hour away from Seattle.

What do you think? Should i give my hopes up????:)

Why did you get it from China and not support your local Apple Retail/Mac Store?

Wow, you just made me feel really guilty! I ordered through the Apple online store because that's the only way to BTO, but I didn't even think about it not supporting local stores. The ones in the store do get ordered from China too though.
