All this time I've had an iPhone and an iPad I just couldn't let go of my Windows machine, even mocking some MAc users on the gaming forums about their silly Macs. Well after Alienware have send me two lemons in a row, I've decided to pull the trigger and get a 15 inch MAcbook Pro!!!! Just felt like sharing!!!!!! Can't believe I've been w/o MAc OS for this long!!!!!!

Congrats!

AeroSatan - I too, just joined the Apple family. I purchased an MBP 13 just this pass week and have spent the majority of my week off trying to get use to this new OS.

Having been a PC user for the majority of my life, I decided to take the MAC plunge and boy, am I glad I did. I absolutely love this machine and really like the simplicity of how a MAC works.

It was inevitable for me as I have owned an iPod Classic, was up at 3am to order my Verizon iPhone and my iPad2. So far, I am totally in love with my new MBP and hope to become more proficient as time goes on.

Thanks guys

Perhaps the only thing I can't get used to as of yet is the fact that I keep hitting the Caps Lock button and finish a lot of my sentences * screaming * to my friends great amusement when i chat with them online. Otherwise I joust can't believe how well it all just works. I just ended up returning two Alienware M14X machines with the raw specks that should make this Mac look like a calculator ( on paper )

Well apparently having killer specs are not enough to make you fall in love with your rig. Between sounding like a Supersonic Jet, the never-ending search for drivers, the faulty wireless cards, the constantly failing GPU - most PC its are lesser than the sum of its parts ( IMHO ). The Mac it seems is just the opposite, the Mac to me is greater than the sum of its parts, it just turns into something that works, that becomes intimate- something that becomes your go to assistant. 5 seconds after booting up my MAcbook Pro and signing into my iCloud account this machine populated all my contacts and all my bookmarks in the first minute. In 30 minutes i have completely customized my machine to cater to my every whim and be set up the way I like. In about two hours I was wondering why I have't had a Mac much much earlier. Thanks everyone for listening to this guy gush about his laptop =-)

Congrats on your new machine!

Although i must say i still use my linux and windows machine quite a bit even today

Congratulations Aero Satan, enjoy your new MBP. We'll understand if you start "screaming" at us ;)

Macs are just awesome and so easy to use. I love them, despite the latest oops, I know I'll get a great Apple laptop. That's why I remain a loyal customer. :apple:

I went to Best Buy first thing boxing day when they opened to get my new macbook pro. I have to say that I LOVE it! After a week playing around with it I must say I love it much more than my PC.
I also have an iPhone and iPad, so the macbook was just the next step in my full conversion from pc to apple!

I just bought a new MBP!!

Happy New Year to me! I've been a Mac user for 7 years, and I just replaced my 2006 Black MacBook with a new 13" MacBook Pro! It works great! I did have a dead pixel, but I brought it back to Future Shop and they exchanged it hassle-free, they never even turned it on! I was impressed with their service, it has certainly gotten a lot better over the years...

I was pretty disappointed though to see that iDVD was no longer included, it doesn't make sense to have to buy the retail box set for $49CAD to get it, and I'd be paying for GarageBand, iMovie, and iPhoto twice! I called Apple to inquire and they are shipping me (at no charge) the retail version of iLife, so that was great!

Congrats, I've also just bought a new MacBook Pro after a lifetime of being a Windows user. Thought I'd better get familiar with OSX since it's industry standard to use Macs in web design. :)

Well, I would assume so, since I don't think Apple is going to stop making computers, so I figured a new model would come out someday :)

exactly lol i got the early 2011 13" i5 and was debating whether to wait or not as people were banging on about a re-design then i thought if i need a laptop then i bloody need one and not gonna wait forever for re-designs... although if the re-design completely destroys my current mbp then i might consider trading it in and purchasing it..

My sentiments exactly. The latest MBP is definitely powerful enough to do what I need it to do and too be honest I'm not that excited for the speculated updates. I just want a machine to make websites on, not that bothered about having the best specs and I certainly don't want to wait 4+ months for them. :)

I feel like you and I did the same thing!

and to be fair you did get the latest update even if it is only a minor bump, i mean i reckon the lifespan before these laptops start to get behind technology will still be around 4 years. the only thing that even bothers me about my laptop well two is the low screen resolution (no that i notice it but would like 1920-1080 for true editing)and the other is the crappy speakers, but thats about it, i have studio headphones so i guess im not to bothered, other than that i can run AE, Logic pro, motion, and maya and google chrome and itunes all on 4gbs of ram with no lag!! thats what i call beefy!!

just ordered :

15-inch MacBook Pro
Pick Up: Available Jan 7

With the following configuration:
•
2.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
•
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x2GB
•
128GB Solid State Drive
•
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
•
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display

1st thing will be to update the ram to 8GB

2nd to take the super drive out and put that in an external case and put at least a 500GB HDD in that bay

I suggest you move #3 to #1 :)

I'm going to be connecting a display to mine while I'm at home so the screen res isn't a concern for me. :) I just wanted something portable for job interviews, client meetups and to take my work with me around Uni. It's easier than putting everything onto a USB stick everytime I have to meet with a client.

Glad you're enjoying your MBP. I'm so excited for mine!

I'll be telling my parents and boyfriend that I got my MBP really cheap as they think they are a waste of money. :p If the world ends in 2012 though I want the chance to own one before I die! Haha!

Just ordered a brand new 15" Macbook Pro: 2.2gHz Quad i7, 4GB of RAM, 500 GB HDD, etc.

Pretty standard setup, but opted for the high-res glossy display. It's replacing a mid-2009 13" 2.26 MPB that has a glossy display which I've grown quite fond of, hence the decision to not opt for anti-glare. I've got 8GB of RAM and an InCase sleeve waiting; can't wait to get it! :)

Here's a question for you guys.. I noticed today that no system restore DVD was included with my refurbished macbook pro.. should there have been? There's a little black sleeve that looks like a DVD should go in it.. but nothing there .. any ideas?

Did you get it from Amazon's Warehouse Deals posted on SD ? ... I got it thru that deal and no discs included with mine either!! :(

Is B&H Photo a reliable place to get a computer? I see they're running a free copy of Parallels + free shipping + 1/2 AppleCare if I go that route. Thinking of pulling the trigger with them on this experiment rather than Amazon.

B and H is great!
