This laptop will replace my MBP (Late 2008) so pretty excited about that. Put in the requisition for a retina 2.6 GHz with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM. Figuring it'll get here one day, eventually. Expecting the worst though with regard to shipping but not worried about it. Thanks, Company!

Here's a few pics of my retina MBP: you can't tell much from the pics, but I thought I'd post them here. I got it at the apple store in Southlake, TX yesterday.

Why would you be charged for the back to school? It's $100 free.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'm guessing the $100 is a temp hold to make sure the card works or something. Still "Processing Items" :(

EDIT: From googling, it seems that they charge for the back to school card initially and then subtract it from the laptop price, since the card is supposed to be shipping first.

Can someone help me out. Just updated to a new macbook pro, my previous computer was a macbook i bought in 2007 it was running mac osx 10.4.11 and won't update anymore. What is the easiest way to get my files (mainly iTunes) to transfer over. Is there a way I can upload my iTunes from my 2007 macbook to the cloud? I can't seem to do it because my iTunes is out of date

What you may be able to do, if you have a proper USB cable, is to connect the two together and start your 2007 macbook in target disk mode (hold down something like T when you reboot or turn on the computer). Then it will show up as an external drive on your new MBP.

I Just Pulled The Trigger...

Ordered a late 2011 15.4" MBP from BHphotovideo.com

Specs:
2.2 Quad Core i7
+ 3 years Apple Care
+ 256GB Crucial M4 SSD
+ Parallels
+ UPS 2 day shipping
------------------------
$1,823.19 (no sales tax)

What a deal!
Now, I will buy 16G RAM and a Data Doubler kit from OWC

Intended Use: Do everything machine, Digital Audio Workstation, Virtual Synth Host for live performances, Cartoon Animation Studio, BYOD for work to run virtual desktop from, then web surfing and email.

Psyched to grab this machine as it still has opto (for Data Doubler), user-upgradeable RAM and storage, FW and Ethernet. Non-retina display is perfectly adequate for me.

I went refurbished:

Originally released October 2011
15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1440-by-900 resolution
4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 6750M

$1,443.94 after tax and will be here tomorrow!

Would have loved to get the Retina, money is an object for me and don't like the soldered RAM.

I will probably upgrade to an SSD at some point and up the RAM.

I don't game on the machine, so the updated graphics really arn't worth the cost for me.

Needless to say it will be a huge upgrade from my Nov. 2006 white MacBook. With it's 2GHz Core 2 Duo, I upgraded the RAM to a whole 2GB and it's 80GB HDD. Not to mention the bulging battery.

I have the same machine but with a 256 Apple SSD and 16GB ram when bought new last Dec. You don't want to know what I paid for it. I upgraded the ram myself. Cheaper. And that is with a business discount.

That deal makes me kinda sick.:( And refurbs are usually better than new. Good deal. :)

I just got the same machine new (not refurb) from BHphotovideo.com for $1499, plus they have Apple Care for $122, free Parallels and a Crucial M4 256G SSD for $179. Sweet Deal!

Note: it only has 4G of RAM, but 16G are on the way from newegg.com

Don't waste your money on the Data Doubler...

Retina MBP arrived today

The Retina MacBook Pro I ordered arrived at 8:45am PST today, June 14th.

I'm busily benchmarking it and will post some results on this forum soon.

FYI, it's the 2.7GHz with 16G RAM and 512G SSD.

@Pipper99

Can you post the system report in Serial ATA, what SSD chipset its using? Alot of I see in the net uses the 512gb variant, you're the first one I saw that has the 256gb variant, just wanted to check if they're using the same SSD.

Just did (almost) the same thing from B&H as well. Late 2011 17" MBP, 2.4ghz quad i7. Applecare (duh at the price they are selling it), and free Bento since I already own Parallels. Will do the SSD and 16gb later. Selling my 2yo 17" to a fellow later today. Will plan for this new one to carry me for a few years.

Someone asked that I post the SSD speed test results with Blackmagic for my retina MBP. My SSD is a Samsung SM256E.

Wow. Thats a good deal. I might just have to buy a few for my business and keep them for my new employees. If you want a Macbook pro now is the time to buy, weather it is a new Retina or a last gen, good deals to be had by all.

Enjoy your new mac. :)

I was looking to buy a new 13" macbook pro, but I ended up buying an open box 15" off of ebay for $1500 (thank you best offer!).

8gb of ram
750gb @ 7200rpm
1680x1050 Anti-Glare
1gb 6770m

After much research, I couldn't decide between a new 2011 or 2012 13" Base model. Then I checked out the Apple refurb section and I made my decision.

I am real happy with the specks and also that I should be able to run Snow Leopard as well.

MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7

15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1440-by-900 resolution

$1379 cdn + Taxes.

Quite a good price considering the 2012 13" starts at $1229 cdn.

It should arrive next week. My first new Mac since 1997. :)

I went to the the Apple store in Munich today and I thought "Just ask, maybe they have one left..." BAAMMM....and now I´m writing on my new MacBook Pro Retina 15"
