Ordered a new one last night, 3-4 weeks.... please someone give me some good news that it'll come sooner, spilled beer on the laptop I'm using right now and it's dying at an alarming rate.

Have ordered the base model MBPR, 2.3Ghz MBPR, 8GB RAM, 256GB Storage AND 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM, 512GB Storage.

The reason for ordering these two is because I changed my mind and wanted to upgrade to the 2.6Ghz version. Since the estimated delivery now is 3-4 weeks on the 2.6Ghz, I keept the order on the 2.3 because Iam thinking of having a sneak peak on that one before I return it.
To speed up this process i thought maybe there is someone else out there that is in the same boat as me but in the opposite way.

Have you ordered a MBPR, 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, and want to change to the smaller version, but don't want to wait for 3-4 weeks. If so, don't hesitate to send me a message and maybe we could swap machines and speed up the process. :)

Last week, order my new MPB:

2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM -2x4GB
750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display

I chose to not get the MBPR because of the wait times. I was told it would ship 1-3 days (was 3 days) and would arrive on Wednesday, 6/20 (I paid for expedited shipping.

Found out it arrive this morning- 2 days early here in suburban Dallas, TX. Good job to Fedex!

My rMBP with base-configuration, ordered on June 11, just shipped. It had an estimated ship time of 7-10 business days.

Confirmation for delivery by June 21 at 10:30am

Initial delivery estimate was June 26-29 :)

Is it a good time to get a 13 inch?

Hey guys,

With the release of the new 15 inch retina Macbook Pro´s, I’m wondering if a 13 inch model will be introduced soon. I was planning to get a 13 inch in October (Black Friday Discount ), but now that i see that they didn´t upgraded the screen resolution or redesign it I started doubting if it maybe i should wait until they release a 13 inch one.

I’m also considering a 13 inch Air (100 bucks price drop) because at this point it seem that the "only" difference between the Air, and a 13 inch retina will be the screen resolution. Maybe the Airs will get the Retina screen upgrade option later this year?

I’ll be using it for school, some video editing and light gaming. And I don´t plan to get a new one after this one in at least 3-4 years and i know that the Air is not user upgradable, so that is a con

So what do you recommend me to do?

BTW: Sorry for my bad English... not my native language

arg.. finally ordered the base Retinal MBP.. deliver july 13-july 19... hopefully, it will have the updated os on it.. my first mac.. very excited.. arg.. now the long wait..

Well it has been ordered and processed, arrival should be about the third week in July:
  • 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
  • 2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
  • 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
  • 768GB Flash Storage
  • AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook Pro
I had been waiting since February for an updated iMac but gave up and ordered this instead. Hopefully redesigned iMac and Thunderbolt Displays next year, this should keep me busy for a while.

Love my 17"!

So I have been on a mid 2010 15" Duo Core Ouch!

My new 17" 2.5 GHz, Anti-Glare arrived today. It is fantastic!!! I was waiting for Ivy but not to be.

The Apple salesmen said folks are snapping up the 17" MBPs since they are no more.

I have RAM of 16GB!!! I am getting a SSD as well

Gotta believe apple brings bak the 17?

Won't happen. That analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI nailed this last release. He was spot on and stated from his findings that the 17" accounts for 1% of apple's notebook sales. He stated that they are taking it off the line.

I don't see it coming back.

I love my 17" as well but I'm sort of itching to get the Retina MBP for the ridiculously high resolutions it supports. The more screen real-estate, the better IMO.

They stopped selling the current model even while already having the manufacturing processes to build it. They're not going to create brand new machines to make another product that achieves <2% sales again.

Put an order in for the RMBP, ignoring my common sense.

•2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
•16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
•256GB Flash Storage
•KYBD/USER'S GUIDE-JPZ
•COUNTRY KIT

No clue what the Country Kit is, but whatever.

In the 3-4 week group, sadly. So this will be the first real Mac computer I've owned... Funny enough I was at the apple store the other day looking at them, I spent a good 2 minutes looking for a maximize button before realizing it simply doesn't exist... just full screen...

So many adjustments will have to be made.

Country kit is the country-specific manuals and such- for example, I purchased mine in Hong Kong, so my HK country kit would come with an English and Traditional Chinese manual.

The green plus is enlarge, but it's not the same as the maximize/restore down toggle in Windows- you can use the drag to resize thing on the bottom right to resize the window to your liking.

I missed delivery of mine yesterday, so it's being redelivered today...

Ah that makes sense. Also yeah, I figured out the resize thing, still seems a bit weird, but I'll get used to it I'm sure. I guess becuase there isn't a Task bar of sorts there isn't really anything for it to sit on top of, so maximize wouldn't really work...

Now I just need to figure out if I can apply the Student Discount even though I've already had my order in. Turns out my company discount is less than student, AND no $100 gift card.

I think there are several Windows Aero like 'Snap' modifications available so you just need to drag the window to the top to full-screen it. Will probably ease the transition a bit.

Just cancel the order and order another one with the student discount, it's less hassle and it's not like your order is at the front of the queue anyways :p

Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster

I'm waiting for my first Mac ever to arrive

It should be here on Thursday, I'm so excited!

At this point its adding a whole week onto it though, which is my concern... I'm not a patient person. Hah. That and they said it would be a few days before they release a hold on my card... and I can't afford it twice on there at the same time. So yeah, that would make it more like 10 extra days...

I'll probably just end up calling them whne its closer to shipping, and talk with them then, becuse then the huge difference in shipping time might make them do something.

Finally was able to look at a Best Buy display model. I'm currently using a 17" so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to compromise on screen real-estate. Pretty much what I expected, I'm going to have to get used to a smaller screen but it works in 1920x1200 mode.

Ordered the 2.3/16/256 RMBP yesterday. Sadly it says "Delivers Jul 16 - Jul 20 by 2-3 Day Shipping." This is going to be an annoying wait. :c

What if they end up not permitting changes? You'd be in for an even longer wait...

it's your choice though :)

Just got my RMBP!

Just got my RMBP! My local apple store got some in this morning so I swooped it up real quick! I have to admit I didn't buy it for the retina display and wanted it mostly for the thin body. The computer its replacing is a imac late 2006 with 3GB ram. I have only used it for about 15 min so far and the screen looks nice but not super impressive. Also I didn't notice any of the websites I visited to be blurred text like I have read from other peoples threads, but then again I'm not picky.

Just got my 15" mid-2012 MBP(non-retina) today. I immediately replaced the HDD with a 256GB Crucial M4 and upgraded to 8GB of RAM. This is my first mac and I am shocked I haven't gotten here sooner. Glad to be a Mac

LOVE the new 13" MBP

Just upgraded my Mid-2009 base model 13' MBP to the new high end 13' MBP. I must say these things are just fantastic. Still fits great on my lap, is noticeably brighter than my Mid 2009 MBP lots of upgraded ports, and best of all I can still upgrade this thing to the Samsung 830 512gb that I have my eye on. I just can't say enough good things about this little laptop.

Yeah the rMBP's are gorgeous but I just keep going back to the 13 such a great very versatile little machine. If you're thinking about doing it I for one am very happy with my purchase, not even worried about waiting for the "rumored" 13' rMBP. Not even so much as a dead pixel. :)

I too decided to get the 13" macbook pro though I went for the base model and plan on upgrading to 16gb and getting an SSD. I just love the size of it.
