Ordered my 13" 2.6 16GB 256 SSD from Macmall early this morning.

They upgraded the shipping to over night for free, so I should have it tomorrow morning if all goes well. (Just received a call from their verifying department, and they just released the order)

$1,740.18, shipped Via FedEx Over night. not bad!

That sounds like a good deal! Did they gave you a discount? That config showed me $1794 without shipping or tax.

Promo Code: APPLEINSIDER02 gives you 3% off. I used that, and they gave me the free Next day.

Already got my tracking number and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. :D

The link for the specs I got is broken, so what I did was clicked on another configuration, added it to my cart, applied the promo code, then I found the configuration I wanted to purchase, added it to my cart, then deleted the first configuration I added to apply the promo code.

Then the discount should stick for you.

is there anybody who bought it with student discount from apple.com ??

does apple check documents ?

I bought mine from the Apple store, they asked to see my school ID and they look up the school on their list of schools.

I believe if you order online using the student discount, you just select your school, and I don't think they verify, from what I've heard.

It's cool you also get a discount on Apple Care, it's like $111 off the regular price.

I just received my mid 2012 MBP 13" 2.5ghz/4gb ram/ i5/ 500gb last night. I was a Windows user for a majority of my life, tried a Mac and used it for a couple of years until I sold my business, and now finally returning to a Mac! I feel like I stole the computer. It was a brand new never opened model from a major retailer that had a price mistake and ended up getting it for $730 shipped/taxed.

Black Friday

Something that occurred to me was that the Black Friday sales are soon to be upon us.

If I find one single fault on my new maxed out rMBP (once it arrives) it's going back for a full refund immediately. Then I'll buy the very same on Black Friday and if I have to after that go through the replacement process until I get one with no flaws (I'm referring to IR, Yellow area, loose trackpad issues and creaking hinges amongst other niggles some users have experienced).

Mine is due to arrive sometime 'just' before Black Friday but you can bet your bottom dollar that Apple will now stall all deliveries until the day after so you can do nothing about getting the extra discount - should there be one.

Historically there have been pretty good discounts on their laptop lineup.

Ahhhh, FedEx just delivered my 13" 2.6.16GB 256 SSD rMBP that I ordered from Macmall yesterday morning.

The screen is flawless...thankfully!!!

So damn thin compared to my 13" 2009 MBP... but still feels pretty chunky.

Just purchased a Haswell Mac Pro 13inch with 8gig of ram and 256 ssd. It's my first mac so I'm excited can't wait to get home and open her up.

Got my BTO 13" rMBP 2.8/16/256 on tuesday, took about a week with en extra holiday on monday.

No probs what so ever on my machine, looks great, works great. Happy camper.

After a week of intense deliberating, I finally got my first Macbook (Pro) - a 15" rMBP, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, i7 2.3GHz with discrete graphics. FTW!!

Just picked up the same machine myself, after Apple cancelled my 13" MBP BTO randomly, glad they did, this thing is a beast!

Same here! Now starts the arduous process of finding something productive to do with it (I bought it strictly for the coolness factor). :)

LOL, I know your "arduous process" :p:  I bought it more for the increased screen size - the power of the 13" would have suited me fine. Oh well, maybe time to start gaming or video editing more... :p I do need to digitise my DVD collection...

Two 13" rMBP - which one to open

So I ordered one stock model online because my local Apple store doesn't have it. While waiting, the Apple store restocked and I bought another one thinking to return the online one when it arrives.

Well - I didn't open it. Now I have two unopened rMBP 13" on the desk. Which one to open? The only difference from outside is the serial number (mac ID, bluetooth, ...)

Any wisdom to share?

Open both.. Apple doesn't have a restocking fee.. Check to make sure the screen is 100%, Keyboard keys don't stick/aren't hard to press, speakers work, etc.

Good advise, that way you may compare and reduce the chance you end up with a defective unit.

Ordered my 13'' 2.4 256SSD 16GB this morning - saved a couple hundred $ with employer discount! :) Estimate of delivery/pickup to local Apple Store looks like December 23rd; will be my first personal Mac since the PPC Powerbook days :D

New Macbook 13 2.6Ghz 512Sssd has just arrived! This thing feels very small and light for all that ££!!! I keep looking at it and thinking about this -obviously just psychological (coming from early 2008 Macbook and new Imac).

Everything seems fine apart from downloads taking forever- resetting my wifi router seems to have helped with this though...
