So as it turns out, my iPad doesn't do the things I need it to during the day, and I'll need something with more power next quarter as opposed to next year, that I can actually not kill my back carrying around everywhere. Hey look, new Macs!

At least, that's how I'm justifying the $2000 I just dropped on a 13"/i7/16gb/512gb Retina MBP that should be here in three or four weeks. I've never had a primary machine with an SSD so even though I'll miss the discrete video card I'm looking forward to the upgrade from my 2011 15" model.

My only real concern is getting used to the glossy screen. I've always purposely gotten matte screens so I hope the speed and portability will make up for the glare. Any one else had to deal with the switch?

Me also, I always preferred matt, and this would be my first glossy main computer. Even on my desktop I went with math screens. I'm still waiting for it to arrive though.

Picked up the deal from Best Buy. I don't see much of a better deal coming out. This is the first time I've had an Apple laptop and an iPhone at the same time. When I had my Macbook Air I was using an Android phone. The integration is already slick.

I've got a 27" monitor I use at home that's matte, but places like school and the library are where I'm concerned about, especially since they tend to be brighter than my cave. I guess we'll both see how it goes, huh?

Seems so :). I can't wait for it anyway.

Got my 15" Retina MBP a few days ago! It's the high-end model that's fully upgraded, so we're talking 2.6Ghz Core i7, 1TB PCI-E SSD, and includes the Geforce 750m 2GB.

I had an early 2011 15" Macbook Pro that had a 2.2Ghz Core i7, 16GB of ram, 240GB Patriot Wildfire SSD, and the 1680x1050 matte display. Easily the best computer I've ever owned.

I do wish it had a matte display (and a native 3360x2100 resolution) and some sort of upgradeability, but overall it's a very nice machine.

I got my 15" rMBP 2.3GHz/512GB/16GB/750M 2 days ago. Yesterday I finally got to trying out Parallels 9 with Windows 8.1 preview. I installed Solidworks, got everything working.

In OS X, I had multiple program's open, Safari with a 1080p youtube video running and then Parallels running Windows 8.1, running Solidworks with a decent sized assembly. Now switching between OS X and Windows was flawless, no lag at all. But what really amazed me was that I couldn't hear the fan. Also no heat.

What the .....

Late 2013 rMBP 15" maxed out - just arrived (2 days earlier than expected).

Just checked with the terminal command, and it has been assembled with the Samsung display. Will be testing for Image Retention over the next few days.

So far very happy with an otherwise expensive purchase!

Ordered my first macbook earlier this afternoon.... Already preparing for dispatch... Anyone know how long delivery generally takes in Ireland?

There's no telling how long it will take to arrive but it was pretty swift in my case, beating the minimum estimated delivery date by 2 days!

Based on your actual invoice date (not order or dispatch date), I think I am right in saying that any UK customer with an invoice date from the 15th November onwards will be entitled to claim a refund of the difference between the cost today and any 'discounted' Black Friday cost on the 29th November. Of course this is only IF any Black Friday discounts are reflected in the UK store.

Look for the Pricing paragraph (UK purchases)...

Seems US customers are not entitled...

Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Really hoping for 2 day delivery - have it before the weekend!!! Also - should I have received some sort of email from apple at this stage?

Picked up the upper stander configuration of the 13" model, upgraded from a 2010 Macbook Air.

This is probably the best Apple notebook I have ever owned. The only thing I miss from the Air at all is the wedge shape...makes it easier to type. Other than that, I this machine is really solid.

And it is getting great battery life.

Today i picked up my 15' rMBP Pro 2.3Ghz, 512GB, 16GB, 2GB, 750M :apple:

It replaces my old 2007 MBP (alu body). I hope this one will do for the next 5/6 years. :)

Checked the screen, it's a Samsung. No screenghosting. Love this laptop. But now i need to get the most of this machine to justify the expensive price.... Will do a lot of webdevelopment and multimedia on this machine. Maybe the 256GB, 8GB was enough.. but to be "futureproof" i took the jump to the top model.

Ordered my 15" rMBP yesterday morning (Brisbane, AU) - really hope it arrives before the weekend! Although their order system says arrival 25/11 - 28/11 :(

Alright, my long wait is over! I waited since May for the Haswell rMBP to come out, and I had ordered a 13" 2.8 i7/8GB RAM/256GB SSD on release day but then cancelled my order before shipment occurred. I took some time to really think about my configuration, but then Apple had 3-4 week shipping estimates on 13" 16GB RAM orders. That finally got reduced to 1-2 weeks, so I just ordered.

Got 13" 2.8 i7/16GB RAM/1TB SSD with AppleCare. Delivery estimate is Dec 5-12.
