I've got a base 15" retina arriving next week :p

2.0GHz i7
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
Iris Pro

Not an Earth shattering configuration, but miles better then my current setup and the 13"MacBooks I was considering :D

Can't wait.

My new retina macbook pro, does not has it's own name typed under the screen(Macbook Pro), as older mbp did!

MacBook Pro w/Retina

I'm quite excited - ordered a refurbished 13-inch retina MacBook Pro today - 2.6 ghz i5, 16 gigs of memory and a 520-gig SSD.

I'm moving up, so to speak, from my 11-inch (2012) MacBook Air - 1.7 ghz, 4 gigs of memory and a 128-gig SSD. I've had it for the past year+ and love it (as much as one can love an inanimate object, at any rate), but want something with a bit oomph that I can also cart around the house with me.

Got very first brand new MacBook Pro 13" from Best Buy today! i5 / 2.4 GHz / 256 GB / 8GB RAM! I got it for $1309 with my .edu student discount.

I am, however, afraid to open it because I am having second thoughts about the screen size. At the time, I did not feel the Base 15" model was worth the extra $425 (I did the math). I know it with be enough for my needs, but I can't help but feel like the like the quad-core 15" will last longer than the dual-core 13" even though most people I talk to told me they would last just as long. I'm also afraid I might regret going smaller when writing papers or using multiple windows.

Anyone else had this internal struggle?

Yeah definitely. I started shopping around for a new laptop back in January and somehow managed to talk myself up from a 13" MBA to the 15" rMBP! Even now though I'm wondering whether I should have gone for the 750m model even though it's completely overkill.

Ultimately you should just get slightly more then what you need just in case your needs change long term.

It's time for me to get a new laptop. I have a 8 year old dell that's on its last leg. I have been using iPhones for years an I bought my first iPad ( an air ) 2 months ago. Love both iPhone a iPad Air. I'm looking into purchasing a MacBook Air or Pro but haven't made up my mind.

Question, do the reburbs look used when they arrive? Is everyone satisfied with their appearance, performance, and reliability?

Thanks

BigChief:

Your post reminded me of myself who also has an 8 year old Dell Laptop on it's last legs (A 17" Dell Inspiron 9200)

Figured it was time for a new laptop and decided that a Macbook Pro refurbished was what I wanted :)

Have had mine now for 3 weeks now and loving the Mac thing...way better than crappy windows :)

I got a:

15" Macbook Pro (October 2013)

2.3 Ghz I7
Retina Display
16 GB Ram
512 GB SSD
Iris Pro graphics and nvidia GT 750M

Machine is very fast and a beautiful display; nice to have such a machine again after 8 years ;-)

I was convinced that refurb was the way to go...read many a post where the machine you get is like new and you can't really notice the difference.

Mine was the same....looked pretty new to me :)
Battery had 4 cycles on it

Got the applecare as it was suggested my many on the forums for this laptop

If you get one that does not look new to you....simple...send it back within the 14 or 15 days and order again....you would not be the first to do this ;-)

I know this is a little late, but let me tell you - both are great. Personally I chose the 15 inch because the thing is so damn light you can hold it in one hand easily. The extra screen real estate is nice, but I have used a 13 inch Macbook pro before and that screen always seemed like it was enough - even when I did a little gaming. In my view you can't go wrong with either unless it comes down to a work demand.

just got my new 15" Retina display 2.3 GHz quad-core i7 with 16GB of ram and 512GB Flash storage, and i'm absolutely astounded how fast this baby is

Just got my new rMBP 13" 8gb/256 model. I love it! My previous 13" wasn't a retina and didn't have an SSD drive. This is a huge upgrade for me. Double the processing power, double the ram, double the hard drive speed, it's awesome. The only thing I notice is that not all of the websites are retina compatible yet. That kind of sucks but it's not apple's fault. :)

Excited!

Well I've now ordered the Macbook Pro 15 Retina 2.3/16/512 from the refurbished apple store. So excited! I cannot wait! Sadly my estimated delivery is 25th April even though it says dispatch within 24 hours. So hopefully it'll come sooner

Ordered my new MAC book Pro on Friday! Trying his again. I am normally a windows guy and bought a Mac mini when it first came out. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I was confused and it was slow for photo editing. But I am trying again and excited about it.
MacBook Pro 15" retina
2.3Ghz
16mb ram
Graphics card 750
1TB ssd
Eta on the 15th :)
Looking to do some photo editing animation stuff and video editing. Possibly some games too. A

Received this 2 days ago and it's awesome! Still learning how to do a lots of things and software to get but I am enjoying it so far. Looks swweeet! Also purchased the magic mouse and love the scroll swipe feature on the back of the mouse.

I returned my new 13 in MBA last night at Best Buy and exchanged it for a 15 in rMBP. i7, 8 GB Ram, 256 GB SSD. I saved an extra $100 from trading in an old Asus netbook last week during BB's "XP Recycle Trade In" promo they were having.

They give you a $25 gift card and a $75 coupon towards a new Windows PC, Chromebook, or Apple computer. This allowed me to finally become a first time Mac owner.

My 2.0 i7/256GB/8GB/Iris Pro rMBP showed up on Monday:D

It's very impressive, glad I went with the 15".

I'm trying to ignore the part of me that wishes I went for the next model up though. This specification is more than what I need at the moment, but I can't shake the feeling that it was just better value long term to get the 750m model.

I just ordered this exact same model from the refurb store. Estimated arrival is 4/28. I toyed back and forth between this one and the next up, but decided this one should be good enough for the next few years.

Video card failed, for the 3rd time, in the ol iMac.

While iMac is in shop this sounded like a good excuse to get a rMBP :)

So wanted a 15in but the pocket book couldn't justify it since I'm not after a desktop replacement. Walked out of Best Buy with a 13 in 2.6/8/512

just purchased the same yesterday! Great buy but a lot bigger than my 13.

Its been a little over a week and I've been using my 15" rMPB 2.3ghz, 512gb, 16GB and being a first time Mac user it has won me over and blown every other machine in my home away. Just loving it. :D

Retina MBP 2.6...

Just got my 2.6Ghz, 1TB HD, 16 gig Macbook Pro retina...and its amazing. Fast, quiet and the screen is amazing. love it.

ordered a refurbished rmbp 13" 2.6ghz, 16gb ram, 512 SSD. I actually received an upgraded 2.8ghz instead.
I'm absolutely clueless about what to install.

Glad I went 16gb ram because runnning VM for Windows only software like dartfish eats ram like crazy.

Wish there was an updated startup guide for Mac noobies.
