Not sure how far the local FedEx center is for you but if they try to deliver it, you can pick it up, I think... you can with UPS but only once they try to deliver it.

If for some reason they try to deliver it after everyone in the office is gone, then it would be at the local FedEx place near my office. Which is about 40 minutes from my house. I don't think i'll make the drive on a Saturday unless I find some free time (Which is hard to come by with a 2 year old).

Eesh, 40 minutes... I'm sure it'll be there before 7 pm though.. that's late for FedEx. Yeah there's a 2 year old in my family... he's a handful LOL.

My old MBP was shipped precisely a month ago, but it is highly unlikely that it will be delivered in the same time frame.

Based on packages i've received via FedEx in the past, they usually arrive before 4pm at the office.

Then again a 40 minute (each way) ride to help the daughter take a nap is a good excuse to give the ol' lady some free time and for me to get my new toy. ;)

I was able to play a little bit with my 15" MBP last night. It took a little over two hours to migrate everything from my iMac using an ethernet cable (couldn't find a 9-pin to 6-pin firewire cable at any shop near my house; Best Buy didn't even know what I was talking about, and tried to sell me a 4-pin to 6-pin).

Anyway, love the speed (my iMac is from the first batch of Intel iMacs), and the glossy screen isn't too annoying except around the top edge. It will take me a bit of time to get used to the multi-touch trackpad; I kept accidentally "right clicking" and scrolling back to previous pages in Safari.

All in all, though, I already love the feel, and the screen is the perfect size for at home, without being too big to travel with. I had thought about getting the 13", but am glad I went with the bigger screen. Now, I just need to get a bag, since my other ones only fit my 12" iBook.

Just walking in from lunch and guess who just happens to be walking down the hall?

Yup. The fedex guy. :D

Time to open her up.

Since I haven't posted in here yet I guess I will!

I just picked up last Sunday a MacBook Pro 15.3" from Best Buy. First Mac I have ever owned and decided for the cost and being able to have a dual boot system for windows and OS-X that it was a good deal. I also like the weight factor of it and the way it feels (durability).

I have used PC's for 20 years, and it was time for a change. Even though my job is in Information Technology, I needed to learn about MACs for it as well.

Here is a picture of it I just took with my also new Nikon D90. :) Though I keep thinking I probably should have gotten the 13" but I do a lot of picture editing and video stuff plus some gaming. I think I made the right choice. I might replace my home desktop with a Mac eventually, but since it's only a year old, I will probably hold off on that, unless I sell it. Hmmm.

Ohh what luck! Must have been fate. Have fun!!!

I feel like its my first time in front of a computer. I've been 100% PC for the past 20 years.

This is REALLY different. But damn do I love how flawless the whole experience is from the OS to the build quality. The first guy in the office to see it automatically said after he picked it up and messed with it for a minute: "Thats it, I have to have one now." He also is 100% PC and a web developer.

EDIT: And I need a sleeve for this thing ASAP

A Mac is a bit different at first and the first few days/weeks are a learning experience. I have been using a mac for about 5 years now and I still learn new things all the time. It seems difficult at first, but in the end you realize how much easier the whole OS really is. Not to mention the beauty of the actual computers.:)

Fedex came and couldn't wait 20 sec for someone to come to the door and left.
I called pissed off and they said they would get him back by 4:00. I have to leave for work at 3 and won't be back till 2 am. It's going to be a LONG night at work.

We have an inspection on our house today and I was so nervous that we would miss the FedEx guy... he came just before I left and I'm now typing this on my new MacBook Pro while jacking the Wi-Fi from Subway... haha... yes I definitely need a sleeve/case of some sort for this thing... so delicate.

I have that exact same desk! It was like an inch or two too short to fit a 24 imac where the monitor should go. :) I am still anxiously awaiting my first mac, 17" MBP. Still not shipped :(

Mine's replaced £1200 worth of Sony VAIO which i thought was excellent quality, but this is something else. I've wanted a macbook for a while but thought the plastic-book's would be a step down. This is definitely a step up.

+1 on the sleeve, feels like i should be wearing gloves. :D

Definitely a learning curve.

I was able to get my Blackberry tethered via Bluetooth pretty simple. I wish there was a free USB solution because it is definitely slower then when I was tethering with my PC via USB.

But its better than nothing and looks a lot cleaner on my desk at work.

Also need a bluetooth mouse or at least a Logitech Nano with one of those tiny USB dongles. My current dongle just doesn't look right attached to the MB.

..And for the guy from DC who was wondering how long it would take, I live about 30 mins from DC and it took 8 days to get here (ordered last Thursday, arriving Friday).

Thank you. Looks like I have a new plan:

1 - Order mac late tonight
2 - Enjoy week-long getaway w/ wife
3 - Come back with Mac no more than a day or two away

I pre-signed for my shipment just in case someone came when i was in the shower or on the john.

I was sitting on my porch when the truck came in the end.

Ya!!!!

Just ordered 13" MBP 2.26GHz (4GB) and 250GB HDD. Can't wait for it to come! :) Ordered it yesterday so should be here between Monday and Friday of next week. I'm thinking Wednesday, but hopefully sooner.

I was hesitant to do this because what if you got a dishonest FedEx man and he stole it and posted that it was signed and delivered... anywho I love your name and I love Seinfeld haha... :D
