Made the jump earlier this week and replaced my 2012 MBA with a new mid 2014 Macbook Pro w/ 256GB SSD.....and I'm really glad I did.

Everything is much better...even the WIFI and the battery life. But the screen is absolutely stunning on the MBP, even pictures I took with my IPhone 6 during my vegas vacation looks much better on it.

But in all seriousness, I think my MBA w/ yosemite was going downhill. I would have to log in twice in Yosemite on my MBA when opening up the lid and the WIFI was getting worse & worse.

If I had to give any advice for people planning to buy a new macbook. Do not skimp on the HD, get at least 256GB hard drive. 128 Won't be enough, especially if you play games a bit.

Second day of owning my 15'' rMPB (16GB;512GB;dGPU;2.5Mghz). At first i had problems with the file vault system getting locked up or whatever but now that I'm all settled. i can say i love this machine; its the fact of not how powerful i find it; but that and the added portability. I wanted the screen real-estate and boy is it perfect i think. I couldn't see myself ever going down in screen size. And the weight? wow its so light for a 15! i mean if you complain about 5 lbs then well, i don't know about you(;

Software and games and rendering is so fast on this for a laptop. 10/10 would plug my 3.0 USB hard into this baby.

I also am in my second day of owning my rMBP 13.3. Purchased an open box 13.3 rMBP with the 128GB SSD from best buy for $979.99 before some gift cards. So much to learn after years of Windows but I'm learning fast. Figured after my 3+ year old Acer was starting to slow down I'd complete my Android to Apple conversion and get the PC to go with my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+

Loving it so far, amazed with the performance.

Thinking about (see dreaming) a rMBP

I currently have a 2008 MB (old school). I still love the thing. However, it's slow on teh intrawebs (I use google chrome to browse). I'm thinking about getting a refurbished 2014 rMBP mainly because I want the MBP's speed and the retina display. Is there anything I should consider before I purchase?

Also, I will want to write/edit directly on PDFs, and possible do calculations directly on the PDF. Will preview allow that? Also, is there a "snag-it" equivalent for apple? PC at work has snag-it, and it's incredibly useful.

Thanks in advance for the assistance, kind-macrumors-community!

I pulled the trigger yesterday, and ordered a mid14 15rMBP with the 750m, 512GB for 2200€ (apple on campus). I was struggling for the last 6 month if I should get it(and if yes, the one with just the iris pro or with the second graphic card). But my current notebook, which i used so far, was just a spare one, of a friend of mine, and he need it back. I will use the rMBP for graphic stuff like, PS, InDesign, Illustrator. I also wanna do light video editing and also start developing iphone apps. Maybe also doing light cinema 4D stuff. I am studying media informatics,

I am really excited, because the rMBP will be a huge improvement in compare to the 4 1/2 year old, bulky and noisy Fujitsu notebook(old i3 cpu, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM, Intel Acceleratore (iGPU)) which i had borrowed from a friend.

Last night I ordered a mid-2014 15" rMBP 2.5GHz i7, 16G ram, 512G flash, Iris Pro + NVIDIA GT750 to replace my early 2011 MBP that died Tuesday night with the dreaded discrete GDU failure. Shipped last night. Going to sell the 2011 on ebay for parts.

hah got the same thing happen to my old MBP. And planning to buy rMBP with the max features. 3k with tax

I have the late 2013 15" with 750m graphics and i wished apple updated them to the 900m series because standard notebooks have the 860m with 2b of GDDR5 memory and that just disappoints me.

Got my rMBP 13 128GB with 8GB of RAM. Love the Mac but feel like 128GB is too limiting. Should I return it and buy the better one?

get the 15" plz, you'll love it

Bought 13" MBP on Friday

I bought a regular non retina 13" MBP (the forgotten one) last Friday the 30th.
I customized it with 8GB ram and a 1T HDD. Even though I placed the order before 5pm, still in processing stages! Any idea when will it ship? Do they still build them over the weekend? I did pay for the faster shipping ($15) if that helps.

Thanks.

Is your shipping status also stuck in Lantau Island, HK?:)

Bought a refurb base 13" rMBP today while on vacation in Hong Kong. First wanted to go with the 256GB version, but when I checked it wasn't available anymore. No luck but still very happy.

Should arrive at the hotel tomorrow! :)

Just got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro a few weeks ago! 2.6ghz Core i7 with turbo boost, 4GB RAM, and a 500GB HDD. Great for school and graphic designing. I think I'm gonna upgrade to a 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM in the near future.

Just picked up my refurb 2014 15" rMBP (2.5GHz i7/16GB RAM/512GB SSD/750M).

Replaced my ailing 2010 entry 13" cMBP.

I'm just completely stunned by how much faster everything is.

I just ordered a refurbished 2013 15" MBPr 2GHz i7 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM. I decided to have it shipped to one of the Apple Stores in Portland to avoid sales tax. I'm looking forward to moving up to the bigger screen and flash storage.

"New" 2011 MBP

Just ordered 13" MBPr 2.6GHz i5 / 8GB / 256GB SSD.

Replacing my mid-2010 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro.

Just bought my first mbp (used-refurb)

It's a 2010-11 off-lease from apple, refurb by apple techs with 2.53 i5 4gb ram, 500 gb ssd hybrid, latest os. 30 day return, 90 day warranty replace or fix. I just needed it as a sarellite for my mac desktop for a book-writing project so i dint have to be stuck in one place. I was using my samsung notepro 12.2 tablet and hancom word as a laptop replacement, but for a cpl if reasons it wasnt fulfilling my needs. I had sold a 13" macbook air for the samsung. I'm just going to load my ms office for mac 2011Word on the mbp and use simply as an appliance word processor For the book project. If needed, i might install 8 gb ram. I bought tge mbp on ebay from a apple refub reseller. It arrives friday and if its a POS it goes right baCk. The good thing is it didnt cost a cent outta pocket and under paypal credit i have 12 months to pay it off interest free. It seemed like a no brainer as opposed to paying cash with no warranty to a craigslist seller, etc.

Just picked up a mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina with the 2.6/8gb/256gb config last night from the Apple store. The screen is pretty awesome. Heres to hoping it will last the next 3 years!!:apple:

Just ordered a 15 inch MBPr from Amazon, should arrive tomorrow. My first new Mac in 20 years, so kind of excited.

I ordered a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2014 - 2.8/16/512) last week. I'm having it shipped to the local Apple Store. They sure take their sweet time on delivery - the receipt says delivery by Friday, and the anticipation is killing me.

Whoa! That is impressive. Did you ever replace the battery in your 2006 Macbook Pro in the last 9 years?

new rmbp

Hi thanks to everyone's advice here on purchasing a new rmbp I made sure to order the max ram and flash drive as they can't be updated later, I went with the i5 cpu instead of the i7 and bought a refurbished one from Apple on the advice of people here.

I received the notebook late last week, I am very happy with the notebook and to my surprise they sent me an i7 cpu :) so it does pay to buy a refurbished notebook you save money and get free upgrades :)

Btw I bought the rmbp 13" 16gb ram, 1TB flash drive and it came with the i7 instead of the i5 that I ordered.
