So tell us how you scored a $1149 system (before tax) for $910 with tax. Us mere mortals would love to know.

Was able to call apple customer service and they extended a nice discount which was surprising. As soon as it was offered, I took it!

"I'm uncertain if I'll like this machine or not, even though there's a return policy, please extend a $300 discount off already discounted equipment. The password is: Tim Cook loves iOS 8"

:p

Just ordered:

Refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2.6GHz Dual-core Intel i5 with Retina Display
July 2014 model
8GB RAM
256G Storage

Total with taxes shipped overnight: $910.84

I was considering getting the new 2015 model but this was too good a deal to pass up! Thoughts?

Weird, I've been looking on the refurb page and that exact spec is around 1150. How did you get it so low?

Edit: didn't scroll far enough to read the few posts above me. So basically you said you own a macbook already but aren't happy and they decided to lower the price. Maybe I should give that a spin.

Just put an order for 15" rMBP from a reseller that did not reflect the price increase, yet. Will see, excited!

My memory went back on my MBA and they replaced it under AppleCare but sent back the machine and it still didn't work and had to send it back again. 2 week ordeal. Got the MBA fixed and also got a sweet deal on this rMBP :)

rMBP on the way....

I ordered the 256 GB version.

My first non-WinTel PC since the family Apple IIc when I was a kid. I wonder if they have a new version of Apple Panic??

My Windows Laptop needed an upgrade and I couldn't bring myself to go with a Windows 8 laptop. I just don't get that OS. It's a tablet/phone OS that no one uses and ported it to a PC. It's a shame too, 'cause Windows 7 was pretty solid, if painfully slow after a few years of use.

Time to learn OS X.

Just picked up my new, current generation 13" rMBP tonight. Typing on it right now. Feels a bit odd (had a 2012 15" rMBP before this) and when I did have a 13," it was an Air.

Curious, is it just the size that feels odd, or is the keyboard weird?

Where did you get this deal from? Apple has them for $1149 + tax!

keyboard felt off at first, but i'm getting used to it already. and i noticed that I've already used it more on my lap than i did all of the time i used the 15".

Do you feel a huge difference in mobility? I currently have a 13" MBP but I'm thinking about getting a 15" rMBP for when I go off to university later this year.

Just got my new rMBP 13", upgrading from a late 2011 MBP. The feel is amazing (especially the retina display). The force Touch Pad is great, you really feel like you are clicking! In fact I wasn't sure it was different from a real "click", I had to compare it to my old MBP to see the difference... haha

Tell me if you need further information ;)

Is there anything that could go wrong if the right product is delivered and the warranty is confirmed online? Any thoughts?

How practical is extensive lap use (5-10 hours)? Not too hot, noisy, or uncomfortable? I plan on primarily using it on my lap. I'm used to the MBA, which was perfect for lap use and never seemed to get hot.

In fact, my rMBP is on my lap for about 2/3 hours now (sitting on the coach). I'm only watching a movie and doing internet stuff + downloading aps (no game, no Photoshop or anything "heavy" yet), it's warm, but not hot at all.

I think rMBP users can give you more insights on that, what I see in comparison to my old 2011 MBP is that the cooling system looks much improved (air intake on the sides). Noise = None.

I'm downloading Guildwars 2 (a mmorpg) to try out the new Intel Iris 6100 1538Mo, then I'll tell you how it is with temp in extensive use :D

Thanks! I'd be very interested in seeing how hot it gets from relatively intensive games like that. I'd also appreciate anyone else's testimonies.

Just added a 2012 Refurbished MacPro 13", base model with SuperDrive, 500GB hard drive (will swap for 1GB SSD upon receipt) and 4GB memory at $829. Wanted the SuperDrive, as it is still relevant way for me to distribute photographs on location. Not really looking to do intense photo processing with it, but it will have Aperture, and I ordered 16GB Crucial ram kit for $114 delivered (Apple wants $435). Will use a small USB3 drive for backup, the SeaGate Backup Plus 2TB drives (actually Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB drives inside) for less than $100 now, have a few of those and they are just great.

Already have a 15" 2012 MBP quad core i7 with 16GB memory, 1TB SSD and added 2TB drive (Spinpoint) in the SD bay. But that one is a touch too big to carry around with my camera gear overseas most times, so the 13" will replace it. Locally I will use the 15" for photo shoots.

I now have 5 different 2012 Macs, 3 bought in the last 9 months refurbished, that ALL have interchangeable parts (memory, drives, etc., all but the MP 5,1 hex core use the same 8GB x2 1600 MHz memory chips) as I am just not interested in the Crap that Apple is currently making with non-interchangeable parts, soldered ram, very expensive flash pci drives, or now, 1 external port (What a joke the new MacBook is). All run on Mavericks and I really do not care to even upgrade to Yosemite, very happy where I am for hopefully 5 or more years. By then, who knows.

My 2014 13 inch Macbook pro just arrived at the Apple store. I canceled pick up and placed a new order for the 2015 model.
