Have a Mac delivery down for a week tomorrow - do deliveries for a monday to the UK ever come early (Friday afternoon)? Wondering if I need to be around on the Friday or not.

I love my new MBP 17" 2.8, but I have a minor concern about the battery life.

Most of the people who own the 17" report a charge capacity of 12800 mAh. I've tried calibrating it twice (full charge, 2 hours rest, discharge until auto shutdown, wait 5 hours, full recharge), but the highest number I've been able to obtain is 12354 mAh. iStat reported 91% battery health on the day I got the machine and now it's up to 95%.

Coconut reported 2 cycles on day 1, which is normal I believe.

My MBP is in TN at the moment. Why? To delay delivery?

We must be in the same batch. My MBP 15 is in TN too. I did not change the config. Just added the mini-displayport adapter. Taking way longer than I expected.

Do Built to Order options add extra time to your order?
I'm curious because my sister ordered a stock MB and it arrived in three days, I am wondering if I should I count on it taking longer because I opted for some BTO options?

Yes. :apple: ships BTO orders within 1-3 business days from China, whereas stock items will be shipped within 24 hours from PA(?)

Just be sure to Calibrate that battery first thing.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490

Thanks for the link, this was not mentioned to me at time of purchase. :D

Also, has any noticed their audio being a little louder out of the right speakers? I checked the balance and the MIDI settings and they were set properly.

It almost sounds like the tweeter is blown on the right and less bass on the left.

Sound is perfectly balanced with headphones, fyi.

It's because there's a "subwoofer" on the right side. Real subwoofers are omnidirectional due to the fact that low frequencies usually bounce against a wall before one wave cycle has been completed (therefore subs are mono and can be placed asymmetrically), but that sad little excuse for a 'sub' inside a Mac is probably low midrange at best, so naturally your ears will be able to locate it. Apparently there wasn't enough room to place it in the middle. Really daft concept if you ask me.

Cool, thank you for the info. When did they start that? I never had the issue with my G4 PB.

R U truly switching over or are going to install Windows? People SAY that are "Switching" but in fact they are just using Apple's hardware to install Windows which is not switching over. Just curious? ;)

New 17" was shipped out. should be here by 6/24 (wednesday) morning according to fedex tracking(assuming nothing gets delayed during transit).

It's my first mac as well, should be an interesting transition. I'm going to install 7 on it as well via bootcamp until I feel 100% confident using a mac. It'll be a great learning experience :D

Don't let me down, :apple:.

My new MBP 15", 3.06GHz, 500GB 7200rpm, 4GB arrived this morning! Hurrah! (2 weeks to ship! Come on, Apple!)

It's great! Really fast, looks and feel delicious. Almost lickable.

Just downloading 100's of MB of software updates... Will calibrate battery tonight when I get home. I want to see just how much juice it's got in it.

I'm jealous. I'm debating whether or not to ditch my 2.33 15" for a 13".

If you already have a perfectly good 15", just stick with it! You already have a bigger screen and slightly faster CPU. You should keep it, unless you NEED the smaller screen. For you it would be more like a "downgrade".

I was shopping for a Netbook before the WWDC but when the new prices for the 13.3 were announced, I was interested. I would just buy the lower end 13 and do the upgrades myself.

Typing out this post on my new MBP 15", was just walking through the gate to my app block and the doorman was walking out for the day, just caught him in time to grab my delivery. Just about to update it and fully charge it up ready for a battery calibration tomorrow. So happy right now! :D
