I ordered a stock 13" Macbook Pro on Saturday night along with the free AR iPod touch. I have the upgrade form for the $10 Snow Leopard ready along and contemplating a newegg upgrade to 4 gb DDR3 and an SSD.

God D***IT.

My 17" MBP bounced off my front porch about 40 minutes ago. But FedEx's website says it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow! I would have stayed home if I'd thought their information was even remotely correct.

I may have to go home early and see if I can intercept it at the local facility.

Hm...

So this is the status of my package (in the attachments), any idea what that means exactly? Hasn't moved since the 20th. It's supposed to be here Wednesday.

I need to calibrate the battery? I have had my machine for 2 days, and I haven't done the calibration thing yet.

I have plugged it in, unplugged it and used it to about 3% and plugged back in, but I guess I will try following the steps tonight or sometime this week. I am impressed with the battery life actually.

Also, coconut indicated my machine was 7 weeks old the day I opened it. I guess thats accurate, but still, it didn't make me feel too happy. Haha.

I got the 2.66 15' and I am VERY impressed with it. It can easily handle things like WOW and EVE, and if I ever get around to bootcamping it, it can handle most non-Crysis games. I am very pleased with the device. I might install windows, eventually.

I got the education discount, but I'll probably sell the iPod touch. I wish I knew I could get the nano though, I could at least use the nano at the gym rather then my iphone. However, if I sell it, I'll just put that money back into the bank to make up for buying a $2000 laptop, haha. I splurged for iWork 09, but I downloaded OpenOffice also. I wanted to make sure I was compatible.

I love this computer!

I just got my MBP 13.3 inch 2.53, 500 gb hd

I just got this unit and it looks very good. There's one issue though. In the specifications, it still says LCD instead of LED.
I spoke to Apple tech support and product specialist, they assured me that "verbiage" has not been updated. I think apple is cheating people out of their hard earned money and misadvetizing their products.

I'm hearing reports that people are getting their stuff from fedex up to 1-2 days earlier than expected, is this true?

On my tracking it said estimated delivery on the 24th, but this morning it said "shipment exception" in shanghai, and now it updated the estimated delivery to the 25th...So I'm curious, should I expect it on the 25th or what? I've not used to FedEx tracking and don't know how precise it is. I live in NY btw.

Mine showed up 6 days earlier than the original estimated date and arrived 24 hours before the second refined arrival date. Good stuff.

Now I just need to figure out how to get my hot keys back on Leopard. I miss F11.

Does anyone know the UK route a BTO machine would take? I was wondering when to expect to see an assigned carrier and tracking number. Just have "in transit to customer" at the moment. Can't wait (have ordered Snow Leopard already... :)
(edit - estimated delivery for the 29th - next monday (still wondering if it might make it for the 26th)

Bought First Mac, Macbook Pro 15" 2.8 GHZ

Bought it at the local Apple Store. I'll be honest, I bought it because:

a) my wife loves her macbook
b) my brother loves his macbook
c) I looked at Windows machines that had the same power and they weren't much cheaper
d) I know Windows and Linux backwards and forwards, but really don't have much experience with Apple stuff (at least not for the last 20 years)

So far the thing rocks. Installed WoW last night and with the faster Nvidia9600 was getting 60-90 fps in Undercity.

I ordered today my VERY FIRST MAC :) I am switching the sides completely! There will be NO Windows on my new MAC at all. I will just enjoy the new MAC and experience a "nice"? learning curve :D

Well, what did I order:

Customized model... (CTO / BTO - I have no clue which one is correct )

  • MacBook Pro
  • 3,06 GHZ
  • 500 GB - 7200rpm
  • 4 GB Ram

Order Date: 22 June 2009
Timestamp: 3:18 PM ET
Ships: 1 - 3 business days
Delivers: Jun 24 - Jun 30

We will see how long it really takes - especially with a BTO/CTO. BUT I ordered it on a Monday so they have the whole week to figure it out!

I will need your support guys! :apple:

Bart, you ordered the same MBP as me. But I placed the order Saturday, so we'll see who gets theirs first. I'm still waiting for Apple to mark it as shipped.

I'm tracking all of my new MBP stuff with a great widget I just found called DeliveryStatus. All official waiters should try it out. It's tracking my MBP, Moshi keyboard cover, 1TB FW800 drive, 20" Samsung monitor, HDMI adapter, and iPod Classic with it. Very cool app/widget!

To all the first time Mac users, DO NOT install Windows first thing. I got my mom a Mac in January with Boot Camp and it was the worst decision I have ever made. She got confused switching back and forth. When I challenged her to use just the Mac for one week she figured everything out and now loves her Mac.
After 20+ years on a PC (with the help of PC for Dummies books) she completely figured her Mac out in a week.

Also, does anyone know the difference between CTO and BTO?

Wish I knew too! or at least some kind of updates. I ordered BTO MBP 13" on 16th June, been stuck on In Transit to Customer for days. Scheduled for delivery 29th too. Frustrating...

Interesting reason for buying a Mac. This is exactly what is making me hesitate to buy one! :)

Well, I like to learn. :) And I figure that an OS running on top of FreeBSD (effectively) must be pretty cool and worth learning.

And so far, it all pretty much is. To be honest I will probably install Bootcamp and put Windows 7 on it too (the Win 7 RC I have rocks too - much better than Vista) just to play around and for games that don't work in OSX...

Just ordered my MBP 15" finally! I've been waiting since early may to buy because of the WWDC updates. I got the 2.53 model standard configured with 2-3 day shipping. Estimated delivery, June 23-26! I can't wait. This will be my first mac btw.

Which one did u get?

Haha god I should include it in my signature shouldn't I?

I got the big daddy: 3.06 GHz 17" with 500 GB 7200RPM drive. When SSD prices come down a bit I may swap it in.

It's BEAUTIFUL. Doesn't seem to have any issues so far. No stuck pixels or anything like that. I just finished the unboxing ceremony and am uploading the pictures now.

What's the best app to use to run it through its paces, both hardware and memory wise? Apple Hardware Test?

Dear All,

I am so excited!! :D My 17" CTO (500/7200RPM HD, 3,06Ghz.) is finally on it's way. This all because Apple was so kind to replace my Faulty MBA gen.A with this 17" beauty.

When you guys think it will arrive in the Netherlands?

With best regards,
Bas

I'm curious - when did it start tracking to Shanghai - do you still have the order dates etc?
