I'm still waiting on the 13" CTO I ordered on the 20th, haven't even had a tracking number yet, which makes me thinks I may be in for a bit of a wait. So much for the 4-5 business day delivery that was promised. Probably because I purchased with the Education Discount :(

I know it isn't coming anytime soon, but I still look out of the window every so often wanting the UPS or TNT van to pull up, I just can't wait to get my hands on my first Mac.

man you guys are lucky. i ordered my 15inch macbook pro on the 17, it ship on the 19. yesterday i called fedex because the tracking has stopped updating and it was at my local fedex facility. They tell me my package is missing from their database and most likely stolen and that they need three days to investigate. Now i have to wait until monday in order to call apple for a replacement. This sucks balls, i hate fedex. They did this with my ipod 4g nano as well.

I don't get this. It took exactly 16 hours from when the order was placed! (not shipped) to get from China to Alaska and for international shipment to be released. Now its sitting in Alaska with no update for 24 hours :-(

I could have had it today instead of Monday.

Hey, at least you know where the hell yours is. Mine is nowhere to be found. The reference number doesn't work on TNT, UPS, FedEx, Parcel Force, IEC etc etc tracking websites, yet the thing was shipped on the 23rd.

Surely it can't take that long to get to the EU from China. What are they doing, swimming it over to save on fuel costs?

The Pain

Ahhhh, I waited two weeks to get my MBP because I customized with SSD. I have had it a week and it died. Hardware failure of some kind. Apple thinks it's the harddrive or logic board. They asked me to mail it back for testing and they will mail me a new one.

It was so shinny and I was so happy. Why Apple Gods, why do you hate me??:(

Anyone else getting a click then a beep,if they've got a BTO with a 500GB 7200rpm drive?

Not sure if there's a thread on this already. 1st problem within 20 minutes and it needs to see a Mac Genius!

I would like to re-ask this question of all those in this thread who have purchased a MBP recently with the 7200 rpm hard drive. Are you experiencing the click + beep described in the link above? Anyone with the 7200 rpm drive who has not heard the click + beep? In either case, can you post your configuration and hard drive model number?

They give with one hand yet take away with the other.

I hope yours ships a little faster than mine is.

Thanks for that. It sounded like I am at least two weeks away from getting the new computer. I hope you have yours and are enjoying it long before that.

I know the feeling.

My iMac 24" died some time ago (dead power supply, fried logic board and GPU) so I took it in for repairs. It took them three effing weeks. Picked it up, used it for half an hour before putting it in sleep mode. Tried to wake it up but it's dead, displaying the exact same symptoms as last time. The only thing that happens when I press the power button is that the optical drive goes "oink-oink".

I'm so looking forward to waiting another 3 weeks for it to be repaired again, so that I can use it for another half hour before it dies.

Are you serious? They must have the name of the carrier on the order status page! Give them a call!

I had my 15" MBP for a day then the video card died, I'm currently waiting for my replacement

I'm slightly concerned. My MBP is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, according to Fedex. However, the last shipping update reported it was still in Shanghai, China, and hasn't been updated in almost 48 hours. Either they simply forgot to update the status, or F***Ex screwed up big time and lost it along the way. Should I expect my precious to arrive on my doorstep tomorrow, or has something gone horribly wrong? It says shipped on 6/22, and I'm in NY, btw.

So after almost seven straight hours of moving all my stuff, reinstalling programs, and configuring my MacBook Pro, it is now finally my MacBook Pro.

Departed Alaska! Wish they delivered on Saturday ...

This may have been covered before...but digging through 50 pages isn't too fun....

Do all the MBP's now come in the white box? I won't be by an Apple Store til Jul 3 and I'm curious. Not that it will affect my buying decision, just my OCD kicking in... :D

I'm sold on a 2.66GHz 15.4" MBP. Going to capitalize off the education discount and back-to-school promo.

I just completed my first purchase of a Mac; in this case, a 2.26Ghz 13" MacBook Pro.

I purchased it through the Apple EPP (Employee Purchase Program) website of which my company is a member. Only a 6% discount but a discount is a discount.

Worked out to $1268 + Tax and California Recycle Fee which includes an upgrade to 4Gb of RAM and a 250Gb hard drive. As I'm headed from San Francisco to Phoenix on business tomorrow, I figure it should arrive only a few days after my return.

Although I've had an iPhone 3G since debut day, this is my first attempt to go from a PC to a Mac. I've tried MacBooks and MacBook Pros at several stores a number of times and the operating system seemed quite alien to me. However, my experience with the iPhone (except of course for AT&T) really made me excited for a full experience with the Mac.

I looked at a number of other Notebooks. Some of my favorites included Acer Aspire 3935, Lenovo U330, Samsung X460, and MSI X340 (sort of a MacBook Air clone made of plastic). However, they all seemed to lack something that sort of made me think that they didn't really want to sell me a PC -- poor construction, weird colors, short battery life or very expensive for only decent performance.

The MacBook Pro definitely had it with it's simple, modern styling, solid aluminum construction, full glass screen, and excellent performance. Plus it was the only reasonably priced laptop with a slot-loading DVD drive.

Wish me luck!

My MacBook Pro is now only 100 feet away.

I purchased the night before I left for Phoenix on business in the hope that delivery would occur a few days after my return. My timing couldn't have been more perfect. As I was flying home from Phoenix this afternoon and checked my FedEx tracking from my iPhone, right before boarding my aircraft I received acknowledgment that the package had been delivered. It now sits in my apartment complex's management office. Tomorrow morning I go to retrieve it and begin my next Apple experience.

Looks like I'm going to be subjected to the joys of being on hold on a Saturday only to be told they have no idea where it is either. From what I've heard Apple tend to have as good an idea as I do about where their packages are at any given time.
