Refurb MBP 13 base mode coming tomorrow!

A$400 cheaper than RRP. For the things I do, the 2017 mode is fast enough.

Planning to get an eGPU for some Dota and pubg in the future. And an new apple display in the future as well!

Portable MBP with the eGPU setup is ideal for my needs.

Needed a new machine for my up coming travels in May/June, so I’m upgrading from a mid-2012 retina 15” MBP 2.7ghz i7 16gb 512 to this deal I found at B&H:

Apple 15.4" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar (Late 2016, Silver)
2.9 GHz i7 | 1TB | AMD Radeon Pro 460 AppleCare+ Protection Plan Extension for 15" MacBook Pro (2-Year Extension) included for $2499. No Tax & Free Shipping too!

That’s a savings of $1379!!!

The Space Gray version does not include the free AppleCare, so for an additional savings of $379, I can live with silver!

Same model is available as a refurbished unit from Apple for $2699 + $379 + tax = $3,376.41
So B&H’s deal is pretty awesome!!

Brothers and Sisters, I have joined you!

Today is my own personal MacBook day, I purchased an 'as new' 2017 MacBook Pro 13" TB with an i5 3.1GHz to 3.5GHz Turbo, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD!

One of the first things I need to do is wipe the MacBook of personal data from the previous owner, they won it in a prize and already had a 2015 MacBook so didn't need it, which is why I got such a good deal! Which I'm just as happy about

In Australia (AUD) With the SSD and RAM upgrades this retails for $3319, you can some times find them for as little as $3100, but I got this one for $2775 AUD ($2131USD) or 16.4% off, which I'm very happy with. I understand in the US this is only 3% retail after conversion, but we have an inclusive 10% tax here, so not sure if your prices include your state sales taxes(?)

First story already is I bought a 13 inch Kensington case, which I'm sure would've fit the 13 Air no problem, perhaps not too snuggly, but nonetheless. Take it home, and it looks 2 sizes too big for the 13 MBP! So on a hunch, I went straight back with it and the receipt, found the identical case for the "11.6 inch laptop" - perfect fit!

I took some poor photos in the store where I bought the case of a 13 inch air next to a 13 inch pro, and it was drastic how much smaller the pro is, I was honestly not expecting that.

This makes the Pro personally, feel more solid and well built, while the Air feels more sleek and thin given it is 'thinner' at some points and they both weigh the same, so the density is less on an Air.

Anyway, I'd been on the fence for a while, waited for WWDC to see if there would be any new MBPs announced, there might be some in June, but was just really wanting to buy one, so I did!

So after several years without one I've finally got a Mac again. Bought a 2015 13" rMBP. 2.7GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, ~450 charge cycles on the battery and 3 months of Applecare left. Perfect condition aside from a few scrapes on the bottom and light scratches on the display that are invisible with it turned on. Paid only $500 so I"m pretty happy.

I just got a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" with TB last week at refurb store. Worked out to around 15% off of full retail or around a $400 CAD savings. It also showed up at the local Apple Store in less than two days (picked it up on Friday).

Pristine

My specs:
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • 3.3GHz dual-core 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory
  • 256GB SSD storage
  • Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Backlit Keyboard - US English
  • Accessory Kit
  • Force Touch trackpad

I just purchased a 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch from eBay. 1 battery cycle upon arrival. Looked and operated like new. Apple Care til 10/2019. Only issue is battery seems to drain a little too quickly. High Sierra maybe? Still investigating.

Good deal. Just curious, since you have applecare, if you want to replace the battery, what are your options?

Will you have to just get the battery replaced for $199?

Hey guys, I just got my first apple laptop and looking forward to learn more from you guys.

Here are my specs.

I7 2.9ghz (2017)
1TB SSD
16GB ram

all for $2400 no apple care :(

Just got the last of the good model. 2015 Refurb 13" 128GB MBPr.

Had mine almost three years now and love it. By far and away the best machine I've ever had. I opted for the 512GB SSD which, in retrospect, is probably a lot bigger than I require, but I intend to keep hold of this MBP for quite sometime. I feel lucky to have a 2015 model when I take into account some of the issues I have read on here with 2016 and 2017 models.

I ended up ordering a refurbished 2017 as well. I was going to hold off to see what WWDC had, but the Memorial Day sales were too good for me to pass up, especially since it will likely be a number of months before any real sales are on the new one. Congrats to you!

I couldn’t resist Best Buy’s Memorial Day sale: $350 off the 2017 TB MacBook Pro 13 ($1449 for the 256gb model). However, I’m not going to open it until after the June 4 keynote. It’s a hedge in case the rumored WWDC 13” MBPs DON’T feature quad core chips, and/or a significantly lower price.

I previously owned the 2017 13” nTB. Used it for two months with no keyboard problems, so I’m believing reports that Apple tweaked the design for the more recently manufactured machines. (I sold it last week, only because 128gb was just not enough space.)

Looks like I made a smart move. According to Mark Gurman, no new Macs on Monday. https://9to5mac.com/2018/05/31/bloomberg-wwdc-roundup/

Well, I'm waiting for an update. But can't wait till fall. So if Gurman is right, I'm not coming back to MBP any time soon :(
But I highly doubt his prediction on this.

I have been needing a MBP for video editing (I want to use Final Cut Pro) and have been holding out for the past two months due to rumors of new MBP's at WWDC.

Well, today's news crushed that. I just placed an order for a new 13" MBP to hold me over until the new MBP's do eventually come out, at which point I will go all in on the highest spec model.

Really disappointing news. I just waited two months for nothing.

I bought a 2016 MacBook Pro 13" from Adorama for $1,999. Refer to the specs below. Is this a good deal and future-proof (5 years)?

3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 Dual-Core, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Graphics 550 - Space Gray (Late 2016)

Just replaced my mid 2015 13 inches with a new ...okat another mid 2015 15 inches. needed the darn dedicated video card. here are the specs
(Mid 2015) Apple MacBook Pro 15-Inch Retina Laptop Force Touch Quad i7 2.5GHz - 3.7GHz / 16GB DDR3 Ram / 1000GB SSD / Radeon R9 M370X 2GB Video / High Sierra / HDMI / DVD±RW Drive / MJLT2LL/A
Needed it for school. Come with a ton of software of the adobe, final, logic pro kind and and cost 1745. Also icluded the dvd drive. This my "new" wwdc MacBook pro!!!

I’ve just come away with the deal of the century!

Currently have a Late 2012 model iMac which has done well by me, but I was due an upgrade and wanted something with a bit with more grunt, and something that was a lot more modern and portable.

So after hours and hours of research, and with my £700 budget considered, I set out searching for a 2015 MacBook Pro 13”.

Spent around a week looking for the right one, and somehow, I stumbled across a 2017 MacBook Pro 13” WITH Touchbar (3.1Ghz with 256GB SSD) for £700!!!
Second hand, these go for around £1,200-£1,300 in the UK.

Was in a pawn shop local to me so I went there without hesitation to inspect.

I couldn’t believe my eyes and thought that’s obviously too good to be true. Must be something wrong with it, cracked screen, bad condition, faulty... but no, nothing wrong with it at all and it was in MINT condition.
Battery charge cycle, 28! And still in warranty with Apple until October this year.

I can only assume the Pawn shop didn’t know what model they had.
They under valued it by at least £500.

This model brand new from Apple is £1,749.

Couldn’t believe my luck!!
