Just ordered my 2018 15" MBP w/ 2.6GHz 6-core i7, Radeon Pro 560X, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and 512GB SSD.

With the educational discount, Apple Care and taxes, it comes close to 4.8k in canadian dollars, but I'm convinced it is a great investment considering I'll be using it daily for years to come as a PhD Candidate/junior researcher.

I also bought this USB-C Hub : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCVP1TC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this leather sleeve, which is cheaper than the one Apple sells but is just as good according to reviews :

Now here comes the wait; according to Apple I'll get my MBP at the end of July...

Just ordered my 2018 15” MBP with upgraded i7 and 512GB RAM. With AppleCare and tax comes out to around $3500. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on a computer desktop or notebook. It was totally an impulse buy, I don’t care I just want it, don’t judge me, lol.

That's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a computer...hey, somebody had to say it.

Just ordered a 13" 2018 i5, 16gb ram and 1tb SSD from B&H photo (no tax). Looking forward to getting it!

Well, I guess it's time to upgrade from my refurbished mid 2010 mbp.

How long do you guys think, until the 2018's start showing up refurbished ?

Went to the Apple store and picked up a new 2018 MacBook Pro (13"/ 256 / 8).

I got home and set it up and then checked and saw they'd given me a 2017 MacBook Pro. Headed back to the store and they quickly replaced it.

Glad the wait is over!

I went ahead with the $2799 model with the edu discount. got the powerbeats 3 and will gift those to my GF.

Of course, I had an issue. tried to name the computer something different after setup, now currently doing a reinstall.

I love the keyboard. of course I have AC+. I hope to have this computer for the next decade due to the cost of it.

I'm waiting for real world tests and reviews. Especially about i9 and (probable) throttling.
After that, waiting 4-5 months to see how keyboard behaves. If it all works out, I'm back to MBP. If not, carry on as usual :)

13" MBP Touch bar , upgraded 2.7 GHz ; upgraded 16GB ; sticked with the 256 SSD & AC+ ; Got the education pricing + beats headphones for my GF.

I opted for the 256 SSD, will i be able to use an external drive in future if I need to? I'm upgrading for 2012 15" retina MBP that also has 256 SSD but only 120GB is used up. Also, what accessories will you guys recommend so i can protect the new macbook!

Really? wow, next time better check the small print on back of the box to make sure.

Just ordered a maxed out 13" 2018 MacBook Pro with 1TB SSD. Will probably purchase an eGPU to go with it, I like the sound of the Blackmagic box, so will perhaps get that, too.
  • 2.7GHz quad-core 8th‑generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz
  • Retina display with True Tone
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage

I’d have to spend $3200 for the 15 inch model I could live with. Way too much money for a computer. No thx!

I couldn't agree more. Apple is raping its customers with its pricing scheme. But as long as people are willing to pay it, Apple will happily keep taking it.

Ordered a 2018 MBPr 15" space grey Thursday evening (didn't expect this release... so wasn't checking my RSS feeds)

Specs :
  • 2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7
  • Radeon Pro 560X
  • 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 memory
  • 512GB SSD
Plus Beats Solo3 (Edu discount) that I'll sell as soon as I'm sure I'm keeping the MBP.

ETA : 7/30 for a pickup in Apple Store (the delivery ETA was 26-30, so I hope I might get it before the 30th.... which seems already like a very long wait)

I had to do a swap out. My original crashed. couldn't add a administrator after I tried to change the name of the admin. it revoked privileges, and didn't allow me to reinstall. Luckily, i was able to exchange and pick up a new one at my neighboring store.

had i gone to apple, based on the front page article, I might have been waiting a month.

I have the standard $2799 config. I forced myself to really decide what I needed and I stuck to my sub $3000 budget. This is a planned 10 year investment. My 2012 still works okay, but I beat that computer up. It's been to war. This one will be far better cared for.

Plan to trade in the 2012 when the new iPad Pro releases. I like the keyboard, just getting used to the placement of the keys since they're higher up than my previous laptop.

32 gb of RAM
1 To
Radeon pro 555x
i9 processor

total is 29k Hong Kong Dollars, which 3.6k USD.

What's the question here ? It's pretty obvious you will see a huge difference in Illustrator and Sketch :) Though I don't know if Adobe and Sketch softs uses multi cores fully ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But the GPU should help !

Odd, I was looking yesterday at the 512GB configuration and it had the same exact delivery date (in store and delivery). I thought it was I was looking days after the announcement and early buyers would have it (maybe that's still the case).
