USB C > USB A is a must for any 1st time Macbook owner. Other than that, nothing much else, all depends on your needs. Since I miss MagSafe so much, I decided to buy a 3rd party MagSafe cable as well.

I ordered a usb adapter with the MacBook. Which magsafe cable do you have? I've been looking at a few of them, but can't decide which one to go with.

Great, could I ask why did you choose that config? I always think 512GB/8GB Ram is miles better option than the 256GB/16GB Ram.

Miles better? Don't agree at all. Always get the most RAM you can get when you order your computer because it's soldered onto the motherboard, and once you own that sucker, your RAM is maxed out and not upgradeable. Storage space, on the other hand, is easy to add on via the cloud or any of a thousand different brands/capacities of external storage media.

Still nothing. However, I have to say, as others have mentioned, expect movement around 2-4pm local time in China (still not there yet, 45 minutes to go to hit 2pm in Shanghai as I write this)

Mine is just 18 miles away now but as UPS normally doesn't seem to deliver on Saturdays I guess I'm out of luck and have to wait til Monday. Upgrading from a mid 2009 13" MBP btw.

My MBP is still sitting in Shanghai with last activity being an Export Scan at midnight (CST). UPS gave me an estimated delivery date of Monday. That seems to be way too soon of an estimate on the delivery date.....Apple predicted Wednesday.

Mine is still processing, mates is preparing by for despatch how/when do you check it’s left china, is it only when you get an actual tracking number ?

Thanks

Picked up my 15" from the store this morning - its to replace a 2017 13" as I need the extra screen estate and am going to use it as my main machine and ditch one of the iMacs in the house/office. Initial thoughts, although many of these are pretty much expected when going from a 13 to 15.
  • New keyboard is much quieter
  • True Tone looks great and it is noticeable on the TouchBar too
  • Obviously feels very fast and responsive..
  • Speakers are a big upgrade over the 13s which is nice
  • The extra screen size is perfect and was the main reason for upgrading
Will see what battery life is like once everything has installed and spotlight, photos etc have done their thing.

I just picked up the 15” higher end stock config. 2.6 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 560X.

Ugh, turns out my new machine is DOA. Constant kernel panics even after a SMC reset and wipe/reinstall.

Back to the Apple store for an exchange!

After some detective work and making an assumption that my laptop will depart from Shanghai, I checked on Flightaware.com for any flight leaving Shanghai on a UPS plane in the near future. I narrowed my search to this one specific flight, inbound from Sydney. ETA: 9 hours from now, or 12:27 AM Shanghai local time. Pretty interesting. Basically, by the time I wake up tomorrow morning, I will know if I am right or not. Exciting!

Just bit the bullet and ordered a 13” 2.3GHz/16GB/512GB. Can’t wait!

Should be a decent upgrade from my Early 2015 12” MacBook :)

Exact model I have, I love it! I think it's the sweet spot for the 13" if you don't need more than 512GB of storage.

Let us know how it goes!

Woo, just picked up my new rMBP! I originally bought a dell XPS 15 but returned it. I didn't realize how much I've become accustomed to OS X the past five years (with my 2013 rMBP) and all the smart things apple does on the software side.

Got the 15", 2.6ghz i7, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd and apple care. Very excited!

So remember that UPS flight that mentioned earlier that is going from Shanghai to Anchorage and then finally to Louisville? UPS 33 (Sydney > Shanghai) and
UPS 81 (Shanghai > Anchorage), both flights are the same plane, a Boeing 747-400 and it has now landed in Anchorage (at 6:39 PM local time in Anchorage). Take a look at the 1st picture. I am anticipating/expecting that within the next hour or two that my tracking will be updated with a scan at Anchorage with "Import Scan" or "Arrival Scan." Still nothing at the moment. Take a look at picture 2.

I'm selling my 2017 13" nTB MBP and have already ordered the 2018 13" with Touch Bar. I realize now that buying the nTB was shooting myself in the foot and I should have just gone up a tier in the first place. But hey, with the timing of the refresh, at least I'm gonna be getting a quad-core CPU with the improved keyboard protection.

Ooooh_ahhhhhhh my life my life be like ...

Super excited as my machine will arrive 3 days earlier than originally stated! Sweet!

PowerBook 3100/3200CS, Alu_MB ‘08, MBA ‘11, PMG4 Silver , PowerMac G5 DP 2.0 .... all used before except the G4 733.

That day is lots of reading typing and ice cream.

My new 15” 2.6/32/1TB arrived last Tuesday, but I was on vacation. Can’t wait to get it going Monday.

I bought mine on a Citi Costco Visa, which has two additional years of warranty extension, making AppleCare less valuable. Perhaps that will help others :)

What's the special offer?

Not true. Your Costco Visa card only extends the warranty on computers purchased AT Costco. The Visa card basically doubles the warranty on any computer you purchased from Costco and only Costco. Costco does not sell MacBooks, so I'm going to assume you bought your computer from some other retailer, thus rendering your "two-year warranty extension" void. Better get AppleCare!
