1st: I got the very same config as you and so far (since Wednesday) I have nothing to complain about - just a great machine and I've none of the issues I read about on the internet (ports not working, kernel panic, overheating). So just look forward to it.
2nd: How can you get if for that price? Even with education discount I can hardly believe it goes this low.

I did a quick educational store cart on apple.com (US) and found that configuration to be $2079 USD. That’s about 1584 GBP with direct conversion. So that price is right.

Good news! Laptop is on the delivery truck and making its way to the UPS Store that I chose. I am going have to this baby tonight for sure! Awesome.

For some weird reason, the laptop had to be transported from SJ > South SF > Sunnyvale, before finally being put on a truck bound to the UPS store that I selected. I don't understand why they didn't just cut out South SF from the route and go directly SJ > Sunnyvale, a lot simpler.

I would love to know the answer to this question just for curiosity's sake.

Anyway, the basically arrived on time so I can't fault either UPS/Apple. It was an interesting experience for this last week or so waiting for my 1st MBP! Thanks for helping me pass the time and stay tuned for additional posts with benchmarks from my new MBP, Gaming PC (X99 build), and my older laptop that I am replacing with this new MBP.

I used education discount on this exact same config, came out as £1666. However I believe you get charged the £250 for the Beats, so it balances out.

Right, forgot about the way they charge full price for the beats but deduct the sum from the MBP price. Thanks!

I would like to know the answer too.

I think this will be a popular config given the price to power ratio

That price is excluding VAT so it was £2001 . Good thing I can write it off as a tax expense next year ;):D

No Beats for me as I’m not a student but I do have access to the NHS EPP.

You get the same price as me the Employee Purchase Programme, it’s 6% off Mac’s I believe, which at least takes some of the sting out the price. Tho I’m not an NHS worker (you guys do amazing work by the way) i believe the discount is offered to a lot of people/companies that are on the list which is great :)

Tracker says still in transit so I ran out of work to rush home

So naturally buses are running seemingly once an hour today. 30 people just got on my single stop

Sweet Christmas!

My TB_MBP 13” [2.3Ghz i5/16GB/512GB] arrived super early; yesterday! I picked it up today and to be quite honest I’m nervous and excited like a kid that got THE best Transformer/GI Joe toy that over never got as a kid!

edu discount allowed me the Beats Solo3s which I’ve yet to open as well - wanted to trade these in for the Decade edition (black/red vs the all matte black I received) yet Apple is NOT having it :( not complaining though.

My MBP arrived 8 days early, outstanding job Apple!

I’ve got a LOT of reading and advancing my skills on OSX ... although I have a MBA 2011 the setup was a rush job and I haven’t had a brand new Mac in over 8yrs.

New thread on questions for setup coming up! Just wanting to enjoy looking at the new toy for a bit while updating and moving documents from multiple storage locations into 1.

I ordered my 2018 15” MBP i9 on the 24th and the order page says:

“This item will take longer than usual to ship. As soon as it’s ready, we’ll send you an update and prepare the shipment”

I’ve just not seen that before so I was curious if that means it won’t make its original shipping date. Anyone have this happen?

When did you order? This is the exact config I want. Did you have it shipped to the store?

It happened on both of my 2018 MBP orders, and they both shipped out in just a couple days. No need to worry, seems to be a standard message for custom configs.

FedEx got the driver to come back. Mac in hands.

Concerned already. Randomly doing things and one issue I'm seeing is that when I adjust window size on Safari it's really stuttery, not smooth.

Not to worry! Mine said this too, and I got in under a week (expedited shipping). As the great Tom Petty says, the waaaaaaiiittting is the hardest part...

I just ordered a 13 inch i5/16gb/512gb and had it shipped to my local Apple store. It said available for pickup August 8th, any chance it'll be there sooner? :)

I just pre-ordered a 13" with the i7 upgrade, 16GB memory, and a 512GB drive from B&H Photo. This will replace my late 2016 15" 2.6GHz 512GB touch bar that will go up for sale after Apple fixes the keyboard. I had a 13" MBA for 5 years and I prefer the smaller size of the MBP13, but previous versions didn't have the multi-core performance I wanted. This new one hits my sweet spot in terms of size and performance.

And it has arrived. Having a 500gb external SSD makes quick work of transferring files over to the new machine.

I ordered my MBP + Beats Solo3 with EDU on July 16th via the Apple Store App (on my X).
Beats Solo3 was set to be delivered to me directly, confirmation of shipment July 19th and arrived on Tuesday on schedule.
MBP was set to be delivered at Toronto Fairview store, scheduled for August 3; arrived yesterday - confirmation of store delivery was via App as well as push notification (which I didn't setup, yet very welcome). 8 Days early!!

Apple is over promising and under delivering products to customers with great speed.

I figure if you order the same config you'll get yours close to August 7th yet you'll probably be originally set for delivery August 12th; yes I'm completely estimating since there are a LOT of orders.

Get yours don't hesitate!!

I begin setting mine up momentarily; time to commence inhaling Apple product inert gas as I open the box :D

Nobody can guess because nobody knows where your 'there' local store is ;)

You seem to have a much earlier delivery date than I originally received 18 days; and mine shipped to store under 10 days (I'm in Toronto ON Canada). Great machine config ... hope you get yours fast and enjoy.

The blue cable is a USB3 cable with one end connected to an external SSD and the other is plugged into a USB-C dongle. I have a USB-C to Ethernet adapter from Anker but I don't often need to use it.

Thanks Cliff.

FYI- for anyone with MacBook (any iteration? Dating back as far as 2013 or earlier, please note that these power blocks do NOT have built in cable management!!

Comparison of my MBA 2011 13” and the USB-C of my tbMBP 13”. Curious what is everybody using as portable cable management for their 2016+ MBP power block cables while home or travelling?

Thanks.

New thread on questions for setup coming up! Just wanting to enjoy looking at the new toy for a bit while updating and moving documents from multiple storage locations into 1.

Observations:

- DAMN this machine is super quick - at everything! Then again coming from 2011 MBA Core i5 it should.
- MBA recently had issues accessing Mac formatted external USB 2.0 drives. Almost as if the MBA just new I was replacing it. I'm VERY happy that the Apple TB AV Adapter I have works without fail.
- Touch Typing: is sweet and responsive! The 2017 MPB 13s in the store don't have the ease of compression/rebound that I'm noticing!! (I've been touch typing for 32yrs; started off with manual typewriters)
- Touch Bar: VERY useful for me - don't know what all the fuss is about, but for some they have their reasons. For me some adjustment since I have to relearn touch typing and reaching for the touch bar, but I love it .
(Federighi does implement some nice things; from time to time)
- Logitech MX Anywhere 2S uses a Logitech Unified USB-A adapter; FUDGE! Gotta think of something or a hub for home is required as I wish to connect the MBP to my TV for home use; this way I can eat and drink on the coffee table without worry of spilling liquids or getting crumbs on this slick puppy.
- TrueTone Display ... works just like iPhones and new iPads; definitely an improvement over simulated non-TrueTone displays.
- Siri (or any current AI) ... I'm still finding it hard to talk to my laptop (Mac or Windows) even though I've been waiting for this since Apple's Navigator concept 30yrs ago.
- Heat Dissapation: This is a BIG one for me; more now than ever. it's nearly 29 Celsius in my apartment with AC and I cannot use this MBP on my lap wearing shorts. Aluminum holds heat FAR to long and quickly. I now know why shell cases for MBP is pretty much a necessity.
- iOS Keyboard shortcuts does NOT sync to High Sierra ... why??!

FYI: I'm consolidating my data onto the MBP and then replicating to 2 different cloud storages just in case!

All in all I'm in heaven and don't want to sleep yet :D
PS: unable to upload Animoji :(

Why did you opted for the 2017 over 2018? Is it the bugs

There is no 2018 nTB-Model. Besides that, if I could choose between a Model with TouchBar and one without under the premise that both have the exact same config I'd definately go with the nTB model. The only thing I'd miss may be TouchID but otherwise I personally finde the physical function keys much easier to operate and practical.

Seeing as I’ve ordered the same spec...can you check what the exact temp it’s running at please using iStat or something along those lines?
