Considering your link is a .co.uk URL, I'm wondering if there's a language barrier (pun intended)

Could you post a screenshot of the product and just send it to me in a DM? Or you could post it here so others with my problems can check it out lol

It arrived and looks decent, comes with little oval protective stickers to fix between the machine chassis and the part you insert into the port

I noticed this item is only available as used, for me to purchase. Quite annoying in its own right, but it does say something, in my opinion… especially when you look at the second and third image I've attached….

Doesn't look like it has a high level of promise, according to this one reviewer. Not the best typer in the world, but it definitely makes me wonder just how safe this thing will be for your computer. Use with caution, my friend. I've also seen some reviews mentioning that it only works in a specific orientation (though not sure if that's intentional, a QC problem, or what). Not trying to scare you from using it, but I would definitely ask Apple about warrantying your hardware if this thing does manage to fry some internals. It just seems a little… sketchy to me. Just be careful ?

I will say, I'm very curious about the reason why your picture shows under 100 views, and mine shows 200+. Kind of wondering if they stopped selling it in the states due to bad publicity and a flood of negative reviews, which unbalanced their potentially spammy/paid reviews. I know not everyone believes that happens, but I've personally been offered to provide a 5 star review for various products in the past (usually after I neglected to review them, or simply gave a bad review). These sketchy ***** offered me as much as a full refund on the item I bought just to improve/write a positive review for them. Once I was asked this because I broke down the exact problems they had with their product, including examples using their provided pictures to prove my points (it was very detailed and extremely accurate lol). I fought back by rewriting my review, talked some serious smack about the company and encouraged people to buy something else, and the company then responded by pulling the product page entirely (rendering my work useless).

TL;DR version- don't trust positive reviews on Amazon without combing through all potentially available negative reviews before your purchase. As well, take into consideration very low review counts for a high-demand item (this MagSafe bootleg adapter is a good example). Based on what I'm seeing from my browser, and your one screenshot, I'll put some serious cash down on these guys being sketchy and likely will pull their product (like I presume they did in the states) should it yield some serious negative reviews. Be extremely careful, but try to CYA as much as possible with the Apple guys to make sure you don't fry your charging ports ?‍♂️

Hmmmm thanks for the feedback. I must admit I'm having second thoughts now, especially for the price. It's a good item but yes, there is the risk of something going pop. Perhaps it's not worth the risk in the end!

FWIW: I would say check with Apple on their warranty coverage, and avoid so much as implying what kind of risk you’re putting your computer in with this device. Let them know that you might have to use some “unsavory” cables and charging devices during travel/etc. to see what kind of warranty coverage they will provide, should things go wrong... or even up in smoke (take that as a bad joke, I’m not trying to scare you). Use some tactful words and craft what you want to say before getting on the phone. They’ll likely answer your questions best they can without trying to dodge coverage of this sort of thing.

All I will recommend as far as actions is this- if it does cause you any kind of problem, discontinue use and dispose of the product. You don’t want to risk being lazy and frying another component lol. I’m guilty of that from my tinkering days, constantly frying crap and doing dumb things that I could have avoided by tossing out bad parts... it happens lol

If you do reach out to Apple about this kind of thing, please let me/us know the results. I doubt they’ll cover it twice, but a single sacrificial lamb is usually in order for finding bad products. If I had AppleCare on my laptop, I’d give it a whirl with a hand picked MagSafe adapter (one that converts USB-C to play nice with the Apple branded MagSafe chargers). Sadly, I’m not in possession of such a lovey warranty. Chalk it up to bad financial timing ?‍♂️

Good luck!

My wife just replaced her 2010 Core-2 duo 13" with a 2020 13" MBP. We know the new ARM ones are coming, but her old one was having trouble starting some of the time, and hopefully this one will be just as reliable.

Personally, I love the 2020 MBP. I recently bought the 13" myself, and it holds up pretty well doing basic video work (I've even stress tested it quite a bit, and it's quite surprisingly how well it works when thermal throttled very heavily). Mine is also the base model, just for reference. I think she will enjoy it, even if the ARM version turns out the be a massive improvement overall.

Gotta have some love for the Intel Macs, they're quite amazing little machines overall, if I do say so myself. Personally, I can't wait to see what the newer ARM versions will perform/etc.. It's definitely going to be a fun show when they're unveiled

I bought a 2020 13” recently too. Getting used to that it’s a little bigger than my 11” Air that I upgraded from, but other than that, it’s pretty good to have more than 4GB ram! I haven’t stressed it out yet, but plan to do some video conversion at some point using Handbrake or something like that.

I found a great opportunity and sold without hesitation, my old 2016 MacBook Pro 13 (Touchbar, 8GB Ram, 512 Hard Drive) for 930 €.

I bough it in late 2017 from an Apple reseller.

The battery was at 80% and had some wear on it.

My computer is used mainly for handling 24 Mpx raw images, connected to an external Dell monitor.

I edited more than 300.000 images on this machine, I'm a wedding photographer by the way.

I started looking back and forth for a new computer, contemplating buying a base 16 inch or a beefier 13 inch.

Found a great deal for a 13 inch 2020 (8GB Ram, 512 Hard Drive, Two Tunderbolt Ports).

I bought it sealed in box from the grey market for 1340 Euro.

The new quad core processor (with new battery and keyboard) is a nice improvement over my last configuration.

Planning to keep this computer as a transition until the upcoming arm macs.

Lightroom performance is on par with my last configuration, everything is smooth.

Contrary to other people 8 GB of ram is plenty for me, even with Lightroom, Photoshop and other apps open at once.

I recently got the itch to replace my 13" late-2013 retina MBP, even though it was still performing like new and had no problems/issues (that I knew about- see below). Previously, I hadn't even bothered looking because I wasn't aware that the dreaded butterfly keyboard had been ditched, so I was pleased to see all the positive reviews of the 2020 MBP's. I was about to purchase when I learned about the anticipated ARM chips and a 14", so I decided to wait. But then I learned that at least initially, Windows will not run in Boot Camp or VM on the new silicone chip macs.

Since I still occasionally use Windows (Parallels VM), that last piece of information made the decision for me, and I began shopping. I found the exact configuration I wanted on Amazon for $50 less than Apple or B&H, and financed it with a new Amex Blue Everyday Card with a $100 welcome credit and a $200 reward for Amazon Purchases, and 0% interest for 15 months! I ordered it last Monday and it arrived in 2 days! I like my new MBP very much, but actually, the 2013 keyboard is much more comfortable.

At first, I thought I'd keep the 2013 as a backup machine, but soon realized it would just be sitting idle collecting dust, so I listed it for sale on eBay and Craigslist. A really nice gentleman saw the CL ad and came over to buy it. While inspecting the computer together we noticed that the battery was beginning to swell and go bad, expanding/distorting the case. I apologized and told him I'd understand completely if he didn't want to buy it. It turned out that this guy was a long-term, experienced mac user. He said, "Oh, I still want to buy it. I just have to buy and install a new battery." So I discounted the price to cover his cost and time, everyone was happy, and I dodged a potential bullet by avoiding unwittingly selling it to someone with a bad battery.

All's well that ends well!

So after being away from MacOs for the last few years, because I didn't like the direction Apple was going with their hardware, I just pulled the trigger on the 16 MBP. Super stoked about getting this laptop, but I will have to wait a little while for Amazon to ship it here. Apple doesn't ship to where I am - very surprised to learn this and a bit bummed too. Anyways, hope this computer lives up to its hype, and the keyboard is much improved!

Wohoo! My work machine for the next few years :)

Kind of going the same rout I went during the PPC->Intel switch. I got a Dual G5 Powermac in 2005, intel MacPro came out in 2006. I continued to use the powermac until 2010 and didn't really have any performance issues or issues with not being able to crank out the work I needed to do or run into any problems with software I couldn't get. I didn't try to get all the latest updates all the time, but I usually don't update frequently anyway as I use this for work to make a living and I just need things to work.

Updating this from 13" 8th gen intel. My biggest need was graphics card power and more ram. This should do it. The extra screen is nice since I travel a lot and don't own an external monitor. Just gotta get used to the extra pound.
Excited for this one!

Replaced a 2015 MBP 13 that has seen better days with a refurbished 2019 15-inch base model. Bought it from MicroCenter for $1,499 + $150 for their in-house 3-year extended warranty. MicroCenter is an AASP so while it is a bit of drive to their store, I can get any work done through them. The upgrade from a 2-core/4-thread CPU and 8 GB of RAM to 6-core/12-thread and 16 GB is noticeable. I'm really digging the Touch Bar and, surprisingly, the feel of the butterfly keys.

I figured this was the right place for my first post. My first experience with a computer was an old Tandy computer when I was 6 or 7 years old. After that everything I had was a PC running some version of windows. All the smart phones I bought were generally Samsung's running Android of some flavor. Around two years ago my wife talked me into getting an iPhone. It didn't take long before I was hooked.

I didn't look back and decided to switch over to Apple completely. Around that time my last laptop running windows died. I could have replaced it with another PC running windows but I wanted a MacBook Pro. I decided to wait and save my money up to buy a MacBook Pro. I did pick up a 7th gen iPad before that when I needed something more than my iPhone.

After doing a lot of research and learning the butterfly keyboard could give you a lot of trouble I decided to wait until the butterfly keyboard was replaced with the magic keyboard. I didn't want the 16" MacBook Pro because it's too big for what I prefer so I waited for the 2020 13" MacBook Pro.

When Apple released the 2020 MacBook Pro 13" I ordered the high end version and maxed out the specs except for storage. I just went with the 1TB since anything more than that I would run a external SSD. It didn't make sense to pay all that money for 4TB since I didn't need that much internal storage to begin with and I keep videos, pictures and everything else on a external SSD to begin with.

I can say that I am 100% happy that I switch over the Apple ecosystem especially the 13" MacBook Pro. I will never go back to windows or android.

Studying Business informatics now since this week, and decided to go for a 2020 Macbook Pro 4-TB base model (1700€ in Germany, including Taxes).
As a tech-geek with a strong new-toy syndrome that likes new tech, i would have loved waiting for the ARM models. Even if it's a 13" Pro instead my desired 14".
But... Didn't wanted to go the next 2 months~ almost without a Notebook, since i would miss a few practice cources.
And the Main reason: I didn't wanted to risk not beeing able to use certain Applications, that might require Windows.
I'd probably not push the CPU to it's limits, so user experience shouldn't suffer at all. Just the potencial Battery Life.

I went with the 4TB Model, because i wanted 512/16gb (simply for the next years, and to have some breathing room), and the 2TB Model would be just 100€~ cheaper. Which wasn't worth saving since there are differences in Cooling and Speakers.

I think that wasn't a bad idea.. And just wait a few Year s untill the ARM transition is finally complete, polished, and maybe comes with a Macbook redesign + features like FaceID, or the 14" size.

Went with Space Grey, but it has 1-2 weeks shipping delay. If i should change for Silver.... Can't really decide.

I decided to upgrade my 2017 MBP 13' to a 2020 MBP 13'. My motivation behind this was the 80% faster internal graphics, faster CPU for heavy Parallels processing, renewed AppleCare+, and the keyboard. I did the trade-in with Apple for my 2017 MBP... got a same day delivery on a 2020 MBP 13' TB. With Apple Card's 0% interest, looking at $128 payments for a year (AppleCare+ included).

I had the i5 3.3Ghz 2 core Mid 2017 MacBook Pro 13 TB (16GB Ram / 1TB). I went with a 2.0Ghz QuadCore i5 2020 MacBook Pro 13 TB (16GB/1TB).

Why? I was experiencing some CPU and eGPU slowdowns with my previous MBP using Parallels (Visual Studio 2019, etc) and decided I'd spring $1500 to upgrade those for work and personal purposes.

While I didn't mind the butterfly keyboard (had 0 problems with it), I find this new keyboard to be FAR superior. Typing on it is a pleasure and relaxing. I couldn't type on my butterfly keyboard without causing a lot of disruptive noise and feeling like I was breaking it. This new keyboard is a quarter as loud. I love it.

CPU wise, there's a huge difference using Parallels (in my opinion - not scientific). Graphics wise - I notice much less of a slow down with my 4k monitor. Very noticeable speed difference.

I kept my 2017 MBP for 29 months. Planning on keeping this one a full 3 years.

My 2017 MBP ended its career with 89 cycles, 4071 mAh capacity (~94% life).
My 2020 MBP has 103% capacity and 0 cycles. Looks like I lucked out. Charge Limiter to 55% - we'll see how 3 years of this does. :)

Only negatives - I notice the CPU fan coming on a lot more. So if you have a 2017 MBP, it stays far more quiet. I don't really mind because the speed difference is noticeable.

Just upgraded from a late 2013 model to the 2019 model. While I have a 2017 model for work, this 16" is great! I can already tell the keyboard is much better than my work laptop.

I ran my 13 with the old 27" Apple Cinema Display - looking forward to running two 4K monitors with this one!

I didn't know where to post this so I'll just put it here. My 15 inch MacBook Pro is just 16 months old, and the battery capacity is just 87%. Is that normal?

The coconut battery app also says 82.4% for some reason.
