I just ordered m1 MacBook Pro this week but have a delivery date of Dec 29....!
??

just wondering are these dates realistic or any chance of them trimming down

If I can’t have in advance of Santa I might have to cancel ?

I was heavily debating my-self among MBA vs. MBP. Really liked the fanless design of MBA (and the price tag), but I was worry about the thermal issue.

Eventually, I placed the order for MBP M1 16GB/1TB with educational price + Trade-in my 2016 MBP on Nov. 19. It's said to arrive on Dec. 18. Really hope it's worth it...

If there is an Apple shop within a reasonable distant, check for local order/pickup. Those are often much quicker...

Just ordered space grey MacBook Pro 16 inch..base model....got black Friday $150 gift card and used $350 in gift cards accumulated over last year.

Have Late 2013 MacBook Pro 15 inch that is ready for replacement.

Would certainly have loved to get new M1 but....for me, its mostly about the screen size...I don't use external monitor...my needs are basic and its used almost exclusively at home...and I have had 15 inch pros for many years....just don't like 13 inch screens.

My plan is to perhaps use the Intel 16 until second gen of AS 16 comes out...that way I let kinks get worked out and still have big screen for next couple/few years. I certainly would have done 13 M1 if I used the device outside of home often and connected to monitor at home...but, for me at least, this seems like the best "solution."

Ordered M1 MBP 13 from John Lewis, arriving Sunday.

Coming from a 2013 15 it's going to be quite an upgrade, will likely upgrade to the 16 next year but the 15 is showing its age now so it couldn't wait any longer.

I've a lot of movement since late evening on the 26th. It's the 29th now, and my computer should have a scan pop up in my city any minute/hour now. Hoping for it to be deliverted tomorrow the 30th, but it's possible they'll dilly dally on the destination city scan and will have to be Dec 1. Feeling confident about that at least. Scheduled is Dec 3 but I've seen a lot of people get it before courier's scheduled delivery date. Here's my tracking so far as a data point for those that come after. Will update once it's delivered. The scans are all in Eastern time for ease of understanding. With the china times it can get confusing looking at others' tracking.

Question..Ordered Macbook Pro 16 inch online on Nov 27. Delivery says Dec 7-14. Still "processing". Now I see that the laptop is available in my area for either "express pickup" or next day courier delivery...for $5. Does anyone have experience with calling apple and having my delivery changed to the courier? I don't see why they wouldnt? I'm not in a rush...is there any benefit from waiting for one sent from China?...perhaps they load Big Sur on the new ones being built, for example. Thanks for any thoughts.

Big Sur is not installed on the newly manufactured ones. The only benefit to having one sent to you is if you are configuring your Mac to order by upgrading some of the specs. If you're not, then what you do is cancel your current order, and place a new one for in-store pickup.

That being said, the stock in Apple Stores have not been lasting, so if you're going to move on that, you need to do it quickly.

Thanks! That's kinda what I thought. I got the $150 gift card Black Friday offer so I would not want to cancel and re-order...guess i'll wait...hopefully not to long :)

Oh it's so nice! the screen is nonchalantly bigger with thinner bezels around the edge, and it's SO bright and beautiful, the speakers are amazing, it runs games without a care (though for most games you want to use Windows because only a few are optimized to support Metal API) the keyboard feels great and fixes any of the problems that the last existed since the 2016 Macs. The trackpad is massive allowing me to do anything I need without having to lift my finger up to get more space, but also great palm rejection so I don't accidentally trigger it. I really could not be happier, and I'm so glad I got a chance to grab it before they slapped a silicon chip in it.

Some of the stuff I'm raving about like the bigger trackpad has been on the Macs for a bit, but I'm coming from a specced out 2015 model so it's all new for me. Touch ID and Touch Bar included. The Touch Bar is neat and makes some functions easier, but it's not like a must have. Touch ID though is amazing, the only thing better would be Face ID.

Last, and probably the most simple feature; the space gray. It looks so amazing. I used to think the silver was premium and awesome, but it can't touch the space gray. A sleek dark profile without slapping that disgusting cheap laptop plastic on it. ❤️

I ordered an M1 with 1tb and 16gb on November 10th. Was told delivery Dec 3-10.
I just got an email today (the first day it possibly could deliver) and was told it will deliver Jan 6-13. If I order a brand new one right now, or in the next hour, I could get the same delivery date. Does something seem off?

I talked to Apple chat and they are saying that is because it is shipping from overseas. But I see the other shipping times from China in this thread. So taking a month to ship does not make sense.

Did anyone order the same mac as me and order anytime between my order date (Nov 10) and today?

Still not charged that I can see? I used the apple card for the first time. Still nothing on there. I did 30 min with chat, 1 hour 54 min on first call, and 1 hour 22 min on Senior support call.

No employee understands what happened and claims to have never seen it. Chat rep tried to tell me I just did not understand what was going on and this is normal. 1st call said its weird, but nothing they can do now, offered $100 lol. Senior Supervisor support (had to call a separate line) was flabbergasted and they had no idea what to do. I was persistent and refusing to get off the phone without an answer.

Finally Senior Support gave me what they called highest priority in the support side of the company. Got an email Friday saying my delivery has changed to December 14th. Have a tracking showing its in Shangahi now.

I guess it was worth my time on the calls? For whatever reason it was just stuck in processing for a month and they never noticed.

EDIT: Out for delivery today.

Based on your experience, I took a look at the status of my order, placed on November 12, and found the delivery date has inexplicably changed from Nov 30/Dec 7 to Jan 7/14--i.e., no different to placing an online order today. Called Apple Support twice, but they are unhelpful. Am wondering if others are having this issue and how they are dealing with it?

For those of you ordering custom configurations, that (the custom config) is most likely the reason your order dates have slipped. Those Macs are coming from the same areas of the world that currently can't ship iPads to the US in sufficent quantities for stores to actually have some in stock. In the case of custom configurations, the factory probably has to wait on the logic board to arrive before assembling the laptop, so that's two levels of potential delays there. Is it an ideal situation? Of course not, but Apple is by far not the only company facing this type of issue (try buying a PS5/XBox Series X or a printer, and you'll understand what I mean...
