I just ordered m1 MacBook Pro this week but have a delivery date of Dec 29....!
??

just wondering are these dates realistic or any chance of them trimming down

If I can’t have in advance of Santa I might have to cancel ?
I've ordered a MacBook Pro M1 aswell. Mine said it would originally arrive between 16 and 23rd December. Almost immediately it changed to delivery between 10 and 16 december. In the end it arrived on December 7th! So hopefully the delivery dates will trim down for you as well. What kind of spec did you order lol?

Any place but here or there....
Due to work and possibly school, had to get an Intel machine (and I need something with 16gb RAM immediately), so I bought 13” MBP, 16gb, 512 SSD, edu discount.

This a stopgap until more M chip desktop Macs are released.

I loved the M1 MBA, but did not want to risk memory pressure and beach balls with 8gb RAM as I was seeing that with 16gb on the Air I returned.

I've never seen a single beach ball on my 8GB M1 from release day until now. But I am returning it for a 16GB M1 arriving tomorrow just because I keep MacBooks for a stupid long amount of time.

I was unexpectedly given a new M1 MBP by my bosses yesterday. It's for work, but the bosses say that it is mine to keep. Over the moon. It is a superb machine and a worthy replacement for my 2013 MBP, which was still going strong. As someone who has been a Mac user since the PowerPC days, I'm glad that Apple is moving back towards doing its own thing again.

Has anyone ordered recently and have any idea around average order processing times? I can’t remember what happened when I got my iPad Pro at the start of last year, but my card hasn’t been charged and it’s been processing since I purchased on Jan 12. Delivery predicted from 1-8 Feb. I read one post that said they charge your card when it’s preparing to ship, but it’s still got me a bit worried!

I ordered MBP 13” M1 with 16gb UM & 1tb SSD. I knew there’d be a wait for a custom order, and I anticipated a delay due to high sales (due to great reviews and the fact that this is a busy time of year for education sales) I guess I’ll just wait and hope the next few weeks go quickly ?

They will charge your card shortly before shipment. 2-3days before predicted order I would say

I placed my order for the same specs as yours in December 29th and my delivery date is still January 29-Feb 5.

finally got my M1. waited 7 weeks.

worth the wait tho, it's nothing short of amazing. It makes my i7 Mini look like a jerk, and my previous i5 13" absolutely inferior

Which one did you get?
Pro, 16 / 512.
Replaced my 4-port 13" 2018 i5 16/512 at first but now apparently also the Mini. Will wait for a beefier mini in the fall.

Was contemplating whether to wait for 14", but it's likely going to cost a bit more, and i still got decent money for the i5 and the i7 mini - which will likely fall in value A LOT in a few months.

I decided to treat myself to the most decked out MacBook Pro M1 that the Apple Store around me had Available for pickup.

Color.me.amazed. I have been resisting these new MBP's because of the Touchbar, and I wasn't fully convinced M1's were that much better. But... wow, this thing blows the SOCKS off my iMac 2020 Core i7...

I have edited a few 4K60 videos on FCP, and I had to literally call my wife over to show her the rendering/export speeds. It is insane. And all of this on battery power, absolutely silent, and cool as a cucumber. What is this madness!?

PS: I also love the Touchbar heh.

Nice! Do you have a rough guess as to what you were exporting before in terms of time vs now with the M1?

Sounds like same situation I am in.

Have a late 2013 - 16GB MBP Retina - absolutely impossible to even watch GOPro 4k 60FPS videos - let alone edit.

How is your new machine handling them? What programs do you use?

I like the M1 apple - don't like it being 13" only - are there good external displays available to use them for 4k 60fps stuff?

I run the old LG UltraFine 4K (21.5", 4096*2304) on the M1, flawless and it doesn't heat up the macbook at all.
clamshell 90% of the time.
dunno bout GOPro, but some rando 4K videos in FCPX fly.

Our company just recently closed on a real estate deal that netted me a hefty bonus so I decided to treat myself to the new 16" MBP. I realize the M version is coming later this year but I wanted one now and I know it'll be supported for a few years. I've strictly used 13" laptops for the last several years and am really loving the extra screen.

I read up on the ghosting some people are having but my 40+ year old eyes are not that sensitive to it. It's more noticeable to me on my 13" M1 MBP. The speakers do live up the hype as well.

Replacing a 2012 15in MPB... a new battery would keep it going... but sssshhhhhh told my better half a new M1 was the only solution......

Great to hear. This comments makes me both happy and sad.... Happy cause I just ordered a 16gb M1 MBP... Sad since I semi recently just purchased the maxed out Mac Mini (i7)..... that said - it will make the Next Mac Mini Model that much easier to buy No Questions Asked....
