Yesterday evening I ordered a 16" M1 Max 32GB Memory, 2TB SSD. Estimated delivery was December 2 - 9.

This morning I was browsing the Apple store and re-visited the configuration for my MBP, and now it says delivers November 18-26!!! But strangely enough, my order still shows Dec. 2-9. Nothing has updated.

Now I'm tempted to just cancel and re-order for that faster delivery date. Any reason why mine hasn't updated to a sooner date yet?

I think it won't update until dates until it moves to the next step in the processing pipeline. Unless someone has more insight, I would keep the spot you currently have, as I think (for the same config and other factors), they will process them in order, so your current order will still likely come earlier than if you reordered.

Ordered a 16" M1 Max with 64GB, 2TB about a half hour after the event concluded yesterday. Originally said it would ship December 10-23, but I got a notice this morning that the estimated ship date had changed to November 17-24, which is fantastic news.

Incidentally, this will be replacing my 2019 Mac Pro (with the 16-core CPU, 192GB RAM and the W5700X GPU). My usage/needs have changed since I got the Mac Pro, so I know this new MBP will be sufficient. Plus, hey, it'll take up less room and use less power. I will be curious to do some comparison testing in Premiere Pro between the two machines before I sell the Mac Pro, though.

I wouldn't advise canceling and reordering, based on my experience this morning. Something similar happened with my order (initially a much later ship date, then an earlier ship date began showing in the store even though my date had not changed)... but I did receive a notice this morning that my order's ship date had been adjusted — with no action on my part. And the status is still just in "processing," so I think it simply takes them a bit to reconcile the updated ship dates on existing orders. Nothing to panic over.

I am indeed overreacting. Thank you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that updated faster delivery.

I know this doesn't make me one of the cool guys but I just picked up a 13" M1. I have been using a 12.9" iPad as a 2nd laptop but today I found an open box deal for $1100 for 8gb 512gb 13". I already have a 16" i9 that I like a lot and the iPad has never worked all that well as a proper laptop. I actually like the Touch Bar so I figured the M1 would get me in the door until my 16" needs to be replaced.

16" Pro, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Delivery by Nov 18-26. If I had ordered earlier today it would've shipped in 7-10 days. But I kept telling myself over and over that I can wait until next year's model, until I couldn't.

Well it's been a little over 2 months since I bought my 16" MBP and I have never looked back since.
I agree 100%. I have had my 16" I9 for a little over a year and it has been solid, fast and never hot or noisy. I am not sure what the folks who complain about them are doing but for me it is a great machine.

I went with 14” base. Hopefully, it’s worth it. I don’t do anything intensive except microsoft word. Everything else is typical browsing, streaming videos, and music. For some reason, that 96W charger is bugging me. I didn’t catch it when ordering as I was trying to get the order in. Delivery next Tuesday.

I know how you feel. I want to order one step up from the base model 10/14/16 and the fact that it requires 96W charges is what stops me from ordering.

Replacing my 16" i9 32GB/5500m 8Gb while i the trade-in credit is still fairly decent. Hate to take a loss after only 15mo but the new macbooks will make up for it!

ordered: 16" MacBook Silver - M1 Max 64GB / 2TB / AppleCare+ and with the polishing cloth!

Will keep this one for at least 7-10yrs. Cant wait!!!!

Hey I ordered the exact same configuration as you!!! But I just read somewhere that the M1 Pro bottlenecks with the 32GB, and it's better to get the M1 Max with the 32GB instead to take better advantage of the 32GB by using more graphics cores. Does anyone know anything about this? Don't want to have buyer's remorse because it did finally take me a while to make the purchase... Should have stopped reading people's opinions once I ordered it! Lol.:p

Huh? The “M1 Pro bottlenecks with the 32GB”? I’d think that perhaps it can’t fully utilize it. How would a chip with less cores use more memory? I guess because it is jockeying more jobs that are waiting in the queue for a free core?

I’d expect more memory consumption where you have more cores that require memory. Thus, I’d think 32GB on Pro would create a surplus, whereas there might be a bottleneck on the 32GPU Max.

But, this is all uneducated speculation.

AH OK I see thanks! I think we were saying the same thing but I phrased it incorrectly.

I was just concerned that I'd be spending extra to get 32GB RAM but my M1 pro wouldn't be utilising the full potential of that 32GB.

A
14" with 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage incoming.
The delivery time is 3-4 weeks, so the actual delivery will be pretty much coinciding with the 10 year anniversary of my 2011 MBA.
Here's to another 10 years! :apple:
awesome. Same here.

in terms of “base models”, can anyone confirm whether the 16 in M1 max model on apples website is actually a base model? This would mean that Other stores (BB, target, B&H) would likely carry more stock for faster shipping of said base model.

Question I’ve been wondering: when it comes to support/repair/replace, are there any advantages in having a stock config vs a CTO config?

I’ve ordered a stock config but I’m having second thoughts.
