Probably/maybe this has been asked a couple of times here, but i can't find it through the search; will the MBP 2021 support installing Big Sur? Most of my software won't support Monterey at the time of release.

Question I’ve been wondering: when it comes to support/repair/replace, are there any advantages in having a stock config vs a CTO config?

I’ve ordered a stock config but I’m having second thoughts.
I would say the only thing is if you had an issue within warranty and you went to the store they could swap it out for another one.

Nope, Apple philosophy is upward compatibility. Also, there driver software and certificates are likely specific for Monterrey on the new MBPs. Apple has been like this for some time. I have a PowerBook that I am sure says it was manufactured in 2003, so I thought I could load Panther on it, but it’s really buggy, which means it’s likely designed for Tiger.

Well I thought this day would never come but it has. I thought that I would never replace my 2019 MBP 16” with i9 and 16gb ram and 1 TB SSD but I am. One of my jobs where I am a school bus driver and I also handle all the photography, and graphic and web design work for the bus company fits great with the 16” which I will keep and use solely for that job. My other job as an associate pastor at my church is a whole other animal in itself because I am not just preaching and doing all the photography and design work at the church as well I am also doing a lot of 4k video production in addition to this all. So as soon as I get some of the money from the lawsuit against the trucking company who killed my aunt comes through hopefully in the next couple of days I’m going to pull the trigger on another 16” M1 Max 32 core GPU and 10 core CPU with 64GB of Ram and 4TB SSD. I want something that I can still take to the local coffee shop and use the Wi-Fi there etc instead of always working from the church.

Status changed to Preparing to Ship on M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I have some doubts that it will arrive by Tuesday given my past history with shipping from China. But we'll see.

My 16” Pro Max / 64Gb / 1TB with Nov 3-5 delivery estimate just went Preparing to Ship. Getting a little bit excited here - could it actually arrive early next week instead? Anyone else seeing similar? US East Coast.

Has your date happened to move up at all? I have the same window and I’m really hoping for a surprise bump lol
Oh, sorry. I should've updated my post. I cancelled that order, and upgraded to the mid-range 16-inch. This bumped my delivery time to Nov. 10-17.

Has anyone who ordered for in store pickup from Best Buy received a shipping notice yet? I ordered a stock 14” with release date delivery but it still hasn’t shipped yet

Just ordered my MacBook Pro (14-inch) - Apple M1 Pro Chip with 10-Core CPU and 16-Core GPU, 1TB SSD in silver at Costco. I love their return policy just in case. Says they’ll ship first week of November.

My new 16” delivers in awhile - no option for pickup today, so I guess I’ll keep trying.

Ordered my 16” pro max on launch day, my estimate shipping time is 10 - 17 of November.

The wait is killing me, while others who where lucky enough to receive there’s early. Are returning them for the notch or the design.

I got the base model 14” with two hour delivery from the store. Pretty cool machine I like the boxy dimensions, it feels like a pro machine. The sound is full for a laptop. The notch blends into the black darkness of the screen very well, it feels like extra bonus space in the corners rather than less. Roblox runs great I dropped in on my sons game ? I haven’t had a Mac since the original MacBook Air so I am pretty happy, I am planning to do game development on this thing.

Yesterday I ordered a 16" silver MBP with M1 Max (10 CPU/32 GPU cores), 64GB RAM, 512GB (don't use much onboard storage). Dec 10-Dec 17. I waited until I could see one in person to order; for color, actual feel before putting down lots of money. Looking forward to it.

Hey I ordered the exact same configuration as you!!! But I just read somewhere that the M1 Pro bottlenecks with the 32GB, and it's better to get the M1 Max with the 32GB instead to take better advantage of the 32GB by using more graphics cores. Does anyone know anything about this? Don't want to have buyer's remorse because it did finally take me a while to make the purchase... Should have stopped reading people's opinions once I ordered it! Lol.:p
Oh no where did you read that? I definitely want the M1 Pro to be optimal in using the 32GB...
