The one I got is a 2015 13" MacBook Pro with 8 GB RAM, dual-core 2.7 GHz Core i5-5257U, and 128 GB SSD, for my kid for school. These days they're relatively inexpensive (or at least can be if you're lucky), and the one I got is near mint, with a new battery. Even inside it is pristine with no dust, and the screen is perfect.
Although this Broadwell machine does not do well with 4K video, for most mainstream consumer usage, and for my business type application usage, it's more than sufficient, and having all those ports is quite helpful. Truthfully, I don't need a ton of ports, but having just a headphone jack and single USB-C port on my 12" MacBook can be damn annoying. Dongle life
™.
The 2015 MBP does have full Monterey support, too.
The other thing is that the SSD is upgradable. I won't bother for now, since my kid doesn't need a lot of space at this point, but later on, if necessary, I can upgrade it to say 1 TB for well under US$100 for an even faster model. Amazing.
While these days the new MacBook Pros are no longer upgradable, it's at least nice to see that Apple has brought back the ports, MagSafe, and scissor switch keyboard.
So, we've come full circle. It's only taken 5 years...
